  4. dealer advice on a Premium pack with metallic paint is; $154k base (with paint $1750 option) $12k LCT (@ 33% of GST exclusive portion above $57123 LCT threshold) $5k stamp duty and dealer $700 Rego/CTP above numbers rounded out to protect the innocent .... drive away approx $172,500 Anyone got any experience with private insurance costs ? or is it too early for insurers to quote on yet ?
  5. I keep seeing $150k referenced in various threads when cost is discussed, which is book price. The on-road cost consideration is more $170k+ for Premium spec once Gov taxes and dealer charges are included, then any options you pick, then insurance on top .....and that was a month ago when Aussie dollar high. Ouch !!!! Cant do much about Kev's taxes so "enquired" what customer return and benefit I was getting for what I considered high dealer charges. I was advised they were making "significant" investment in new car lifts (to cater for low nose high) as well as "a special" purpose built service area (aka: a new coffee machine perhaps for the service tech ?) ... do ya think customers may just be paying for some of that in the dealer charges ... Interested in others experience on dealer charges, stories that were told, and whether their hands were on, or under the desk, when explaining them ? Probably just have to take it but if cost of import moves about with Aussie dollar value, dealer costs could become an interesting variable in a dealer purchase or import decision (excluding warrenty and service considerations).

  10. looking to purchase R34 GTR cooling panel for under bonnet
  11. MFD boost gauge graphic in pics shows 1.5 bar max so they seem to be expecting boost mods with that sort of scaling....
  12. dont quote me but sure I've seen .7 bar reported for R35. Normal manufacturer conservative approach to boost pressure for reliability etc.
  13. My conspiracy theory .... I'm only guessing but Nissan engineers and marketing guys arent dumb. I suspect its an intentional underplay the true capabilities of first version of R35 as a car "for all people", knowing it may be considered a bit heavy, knowing enthusiasts would love a manual, knowing the styling without further body kits will have some mixed reactions, but knowing the potential they have to evolve the base product. I suspect they are waiting for the counter shots from Porsche and the like (eg Porsche already claiming 7:32 around ring from new GT2 390kw on standard rubber) - read below. http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/wheels/site/ar...plate=domWheels They'll let the dust settle and then blast them again with the lighter tricked up Vpec versions. Hasegawa has more up his sleeve to unfold than's been told I'm sure. Any version can be delivered to my garage when convenient please please Mr Nissan
  14. Worlds first R35 review by Motor Trend - 2 parts Some of best live closeups of body detail and internals like MFD and honest first impressions on the looks and DSG. Part 1 OK but Part 2 has most of interesting detail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp2_TbtRzTI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PTjq0rcL-E Enjoy ....

  16. Hi Brandon, had this R34 for 12 months now and mostly painless to date. Engine is stock, light mods with exhaust, suspension, and only issue I've had is of late some rough idling. Cleaned the AAC value (theres heaps of threads on this topic) and now seems fine. Perhaps a result of my approach which was after compliance not to trust/assume anything. I redid everything I could (eg fluids, filters, new battery etc) so the car was in a known state + excellent way to navigate and learn about the car. I also stripped the interior so no rust in sneaky places either but thats not for everyone. You risk spending some time and money that may not have been needed but its cheap insurance. Other comment is if possible its good to make the deal subject to a mechanical inspection. Get it up on a hoist and either you or someone that knows what they are looking at have a good "with light" inspection. Look for signs of accidents, welds, anything odd and fixes (plastic welds) to any of the moldings etc. You can tell a lot from underside inspection in regards health and treatment of the car eg signs like wear on inside front disk rotors is a good indicator. GTR's are heavy so rotors take a bounding if consistently driven hard. If its a v spec then diffusers off please. Any resistance to an inspection request is a clear sign. So maintain and treat well and typically reliable Nissan engineering kicks in. regards
  17. Hi Brandon, Interesting discussion and good practical advice.. So many choices and none of which are a bad choice As a previous v-spec owner, and current non-v-spec GTR 34 owner (note I avoided the use of the word standard as no GTR deserves to be called standard) i would offer up another angle to think about. What is your intended use of the car as this may influence your decision. Eg weekend track weapon verses daily drive, or most likely somewhere in between. If you are not performance fanging around a track then the driving pleasure is much the same and mechanical benefits of v-spec to non v-spec in normal use are not really called into play. Some of the noticable differences on the road are for some (but not all) sometimes annoying.. eg ride quality, ground clearance + take underbody diffusers on and off a few times and their practicality outside a wind tunnel starts to dim. I luv v specs... all I'm suggesting is dont get too fixated on the v spec element and discount a potential good non-vspec car if it comes up. Consider what your real use is likely to be. Of course value of the v spec does provide higher resale, if thats a strong consideration and completely understandable to go for the upspec version. But, for the price difference of a good v spec to non vspec you could for example put on adjustable suspension setup, stage 1 tune and have a car that sits in the middle of the fun profile eg liveable daily drive but can harden up for the those serious moments. It's a personal choice but worth some consideration .... good hunting. regards

  22. looking for advice/options in regards a new suspension setup for a 1999 R34 GTR. Just purchased car and current setup is KYB Gear Climb shocks (hard to find much info on these except on Jap sites!) and springs of unknown spec and manufacture other than they are blue ? (although may know more as plan to pull them out for a better look in next few days). Setup is way too hard for typical aussie road use and looking for a more progressive spring rate to afford improved daily drive dynamics, but being a GTR firm up under load.. aka a balanced setup akin to original factory tune. Car not planned for track use. Realise that a coilover set with matched spring/shock dynamics may be the best outcome but as the KYB appear a reasonable unit am investigating spring swapout first. All advise welcome from any of you specialist suspension type guys. I am located in Brisbane.
  23. Wanted R34 GTR (1999) original airbox (inc any screws/brackets etc). Have snorkel. Open to negotiation on price subject to condition of unit. Looking to revert pod filters back to original factory setup.
