Who Here Has Driven Both M35 And S1/s2?
iamhe77 replied to pixel8r's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Before I bought my M35, I was hell bent on getting an S2 (Still love the look). I finally got around to driving an S2 (only mod being a pod filter with CAI) in the wet and I gotta say that BOTH my wife and I could not get out quickly enough. She hated the pod sound (it was faaaarkin loud!), I was disappointed in the power - or lack thereof and I thought the handling just was not crisp enough. It had leather interior and Xanavi screen which were nice. I must say though, that I tried out the tiptronic and was not impressed by that either! Don't really know what I was expecting, but it certainly did not live up to my expectations. On the flip side, I saw my M35 online and after negotiating, purchased it "sight unseen" and had it shipped to me. My wife and I still BOTH love my car. She loves the style of the interior (but mostly the leather, elec & heated seats) and how quiet it is when the windows are up. I love the power delivery, aesthetics and the interior almost feels like it "hugs" me when I get in. The interior build is fantastic and feels "complete" (don't know how else to describe it) My ride is a bit floaty at the moment due to worn shocks, but 60,000k's ago, the ride was very comfortable and could handle quick changes in direction. I agree that the transmission is not "all that". I am not sure about yours, but mine has similar changes to the S2. When I am under heavy throttle, I find that the changes are pretty quick but the tiptronic just does not do what want, when I want. I just forget about the tiptronic these days... too frustrating. I know you are after a comparison, but I don't think you can compare them. I would buy another M35 without hesitation if I needed to. If I didn't have my M35 and you offered me a S1 or S2 for free, I would sell it quickly and cheaply to put the money to getting another M35. My mate also has Nismo suspension, it really changes the car's dynamics and is still very comfortable to cruise. Haven't tried the Bilstein's yet, but I am told they are just as good (maybe better). Maybe if I was in my early 20's again, the S1 or S2 would appeal a bit more, but I think that for the money you cannot get a better hauler than the M35. Maybe I am just getting older Or.... maybe that just means I have more money for mods EDIT: Nope. Just means that my money goes to other things, like mortgages, bills, food, dogs..... -
Depends, Turbolight is a semi-synthetic oil. Having said that, I found it better than the Motul 8100, though no where near as good as the Amsoil, let alone the Motul 300V.

Couldn't add to above post, but here are the dimensions of the Dolphin intercooler h180mm x w680mm x d70mm Don't know the part number sorry, bu it is manufactured by Freeway and is supposedly comparable to ARC build/cooling wise 155400 yen new.

Sure mate. Expensive though Autobarn down here can get one (was quoted ~$2k in Sept last year) for NM35 Stagea (10/01-7/04) ARC Part # M103NM35G04 Thickness: 100mm Purchase price (new) ¥136600 RMS Motorsport (sponsor here) can get it in no probs. www.fortyone.co.nz can get them in 10 days ($3400NZD though ) You can see it cheekily peeping out the opening in my mate's front bar here.

Agreed. Colour coded "beard" looks ace Dunno about the rear vents. I will check tonight (as long as I remember!). Yes, I have full black leather interior

You and me both. I guess that the needle would have hit 195kph if there were numbers that far. I do know that my speedo shows 7kph high out due to 18's, but could the original speedo be out 10kph?

Oh, you mean like what my RS has?

You will find more answers on page 7 of that same thread (please read). I asked NRVOUS how much stuffing around there was when installing the 'cooler, this was his response; "Like most of these intercooler kits, there's always a little bit of trimming to be done here and there, the reo bar needed some aluminium shaved off at both ends where the intercooler end tanks finish and slots for the stock cooler needed top be cut off so the Greddy clears nicley......now its sits perfectly behind the Bar" Hope that put's your mind at ease.
-
Nope. An RS with Bose is an RX.
-
If you are going to install a piggyback ECU, I believe that the eManage Ultimate can override it. Did you end up getting that white Axis Alan?
-
NRVOUS has installed a Greddy V-spec intercooler on his Axis. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=4288286 Looks like it fit fine with the fan. The ARC intercooler does not require any changes to any existing parts to be installed, so the fan is fine with one of these.

Locally Made Pv35 Front Bars Now Avialable.

I love the RB26 nearly as much as the next guy, but shouldn't Mustang's sound "lumpy" and muscular? RB26 does not give the same presence in a Mustang as, say a 427 burbling out of twin exhausts. Just wrong.

Good idea. FYI Bose Standard (but with Nismo gauges)

Mate. YES! Would the front bar be from the... '01-03 kit or the '04+ kit -
Definately OE... But that is a seriously beautiful V35, mate. Well done!
-
My mate has an ARC 'cooler on his M35. Straight swap for OE.... expensive though There are a few kits available (in order or price) from Greddy (Spec V, Spec R), ARC and Dolphin. There are probably more, but I cannot think of them off the top of my head. As far as I know, the Greddy 'coolers need some cutting to fit, but the Dolphin is a slimmer design and fits without cutting (from memory). As stated the ARC is a straight swap for the stockie. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, I suppose you could take the dimensions of any of these and duplicate whichever you like. Can't guarantee the custom job would cool the same though.

Custom Door Skins And Other Mods!
iamhe77 replied to BIT SUS's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
mp3 should be outlawed. Crap compression = HUGE loss in music quality. I have an 80GB iPod which has 4GB left on it. Lossless all the way baby! (ideally ripped from Vinyl) -
You've got time mate
-
Would be useful, but; 1) How much time do you have? 2) Isn't that what FAST is for? - if you don't have it, just give a Nissan service guy your VIN & he can look the part number up. and then there are still conflicts, such as spark plugs
-
I do believed so... but all I can find now is pages like this stating it as a FR platform http://translate.google.com.au/translate?h...l%3Den%26sa%3DG Damn it.

I know there are a few custom 3" systems getting around on M35's here. Why not checkout NRVOUS's Project Axis thread. He has a nice setup from Liverpool exhausts (dump & Cat) but uses the Fujitsubo Legalis cat-back as well. A lot of M35's use this as it gives a nice note but is not much louder than stock.
-
I don't have a custom exhaust, but you can use mine as a comparison. (stock Dump) Kakimoto front pipe Fujitsubo Legalis R cat-back Bought, shipped (through RMS Motorsport) and installed mid last year (before exchange rate went to crap) for ~$1600. Dunno about now, prob in excess of $2400

Thanks, that puts my mind at ease. I foresee an possible intercooler upgrade, then roadtrip - already got my HiFlow and exhaust May even be able to convince some Vic M35's to take the trip as well. gotta say though... it's i amhe77, not jamhe77. Again, thanks for the info Tony. Much appreciated.
