  1. It's covered in f***ing dents!!! Other than that, the stock solenoid is stuck in low-boost mode. And until last week, that was pretty much it.
  2. On re-reading this, it could just as well have been written by someone on the rebound!
  3. Haha, the perpetual optimist. I like it. In all seriousness though - I love long drives by myself... walks on the beach.. hey, wait. Anyhoo, yeah I take your point. I did Perth to Leonora in a day in a LandCruiser that was burning enough oil to keep a small oil producing nation in business. It was fun up until the point when it got dark. Then it was just scarey! Even in a huge two tonne box of sheet metal and bullbar crazyness.
  4. How exciting would that be hey? I've done the nullabor twice when I was a kid, but never driven it myself. How awesome would it be to have 1200km of just you, your car and the road. That song by Buck65 - "Wicked and Weird"? Ohhhh yeah. Just driving for its own sake. I've ALWAYS wanted to do that.
  5. So let's say you've found the perfect replacement for your written-off pride and joy. The only trouble is, it's over in Queensland. We all know the ins and outs of importing a car from Japan, but what about when your next dream-car isn't so far afield? A mate of mine has put me onto a very nice machine in Brisbane, but I'm a bit reluctant. - Since you can't be there; do businesses exist to check out the car for you before you buy? Like RAC but more clued in to the performance market - Do escrow services exist to transfer funds to the seller once your new car is in transit? What experiences have you had using them and as a seller - how have you reacted to working with escrow? - Are there any glaring differences in laws that would prevent a legal car in QLD from being registered in WA. My own thought on it is that WA laws are generally more lenient. - Do you have to put the car over the pits when transferring registration. I thought I'd start this topic seeing as it doesn't seem to be discussed specifically elsewhere and particularly not in relation to bringing cars to WA from interstate.
  6. Hmmmm, battery box? Now I have to admit, this one has me worried and a little confused. What does this actually mean in the context of having the battery in your boot? Mine is just sitting on a plastic dish (the one that came with the car) and clamped down (like it was when it came with the car). Is this stickerable?
  7. Hmmm.... RB30DET... I must admit that does sound interesting. But I think it would be more responsible (there's that word again) to buy something I can flog for around what I bought it for in a few months...
  8. Dude! I thought you'd dropped off the face of the planet, how the hell are you? Too bad about the nanamobile. I haven't seen you in... well.. must be getting on a year and a half. I'm in Balcatta now incidentally. Assessor STILL hasn't been so I don't know if I'll be needing a bunky or not. I like the idea of a little shitbox to tool around in though - I really hated taking and parking the line anywhere unusual...
  9. Just wanted to add that the Charade GTti is also a formiddable bunkie. Hard to find though.
  10. D'oh! Duplicate, please delete - or merge if people start replying to this. Here's the real thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bu...es-t313237.html
  11. So, I may be panicing prematurely, but pretty much everyone who has seen my car so far has said "Nah, that'll get written off" - assessor is yet to see it though. As I'm sure we all are on this forum, I am very attached to my particular car and really don't want it to be written off. But if it does, I'm thinking I'm going to take the money and start saving for either a R33 GTR or R34 GTT... maybe something completely different, I don't know. The thing is, in the mean time I'd want to buy a car that is as cheap as possible but pretty much bullet proof. I don't particularly care about looks, age, ride comfort, anything other than something that keeps going and going and going. The old mid-80s toyota corollas spring to mind. My old Daihatsu Charade was also a bloody amazing car and nippy too for its little 1300cc engine. We're talking about sub $1500 cars here - I don't want to eat too much into my budget if worst comes to worst and the 33 is a write off. So, harken back to the days of your P-plates and lets hear about your best old bullet proof bunkie!
  12. My boss was crawling along Armadale Rd last night in a long line of traffic and this tool in something fast (don't know what) decided to duck into the left lane and take his chances speeding through the water... and straight into a fallen tree. Totalled his car. Fail.
  13. Yeah man, thankfully. Was nearly in tears on the way to work today - I was devastated. I feel for you mate, I was really worried they wouldn't cover it so I know exactly how you're feeling.
  14. Got totally pwn'd. Just got back from the shops and got the shopping in and figured I'd better get the car in the garage. *Chunk* *Chunk* *ChunkChunkChunk*... Nooooooooooo!!! All I could do was watch while the hail pounded my baby - alarm screaming out in agony. She now looks like a golf ball. Thankfully Just Car have agreed to cover it and are sending an assessor tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a new paint job - some of those dents aint getting pulled (like the ones on the a-pillar and front fender).
  15. *cough, cough*
  16. Thanks guys, Rush' looks sweet. Plus I've noticed in the galleries they're quite popular and look good on the car. Hey, Keets! Thanks for the links - *bookmarked*
  17. Hey that's interesting I see accessauto have some DTM Rush rims available. Far cheaper than SSR of course, which makes me think; anyone heard of DTM? We're not talking "Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters" here are we?
  18. ... *sigh* yes I know they're JDM rims, but the retail markup stays here at least
  19. Yeah, thanks Michael, but not really what I was looking for. I've tentatively checked ebay and a couple of OS stores, but I'd rather buy local. Keeps the money here and also, you get after-sales service
  20. So I fell in love with a set of SSR Type C RS in Gunmetal Grey. I heard that Jeff at C-RED does SSRs, but I rang him this morning and he said that what he's got in stock is the last of it as he's no longer importing them. Anyone else know of anywhere in perth I can find 18x8 SSRs? A close second would be some Enkei RP03s but they're rare as hen's teeth as well, I can't seem to find them anywhere - I keep getting told there aren't any in Australia at the moment. What to do, what to do? Anyone have any suggestions? I'm after a lightweight wheel that's more drift than bling in a 5 or 6 spoke... and thanks to some dodgy wheel alignment a few months back (now fixed) I'm nearly driving on steel so it's getting kind of urgent
  21. Wow, thanks for the response guys, that was great. More and more I'm leaning toward the GTR. For me, buying the gtst was a matter of what I could afford at the time; it was either a 32 GTR or a 33 gtst and I actually don't regret making the choice I did; I love my 33. Now it's a matter of either keeping the gtst or getting a GTR with money I could get a really good 34GTT for. Again, I'm going to have to side with the 33... it's a personal taste thing I think. As it was mentioned, I think there's a certain degree of wank-factor when you go for the GTR badge. At the end of the day, as a daily driver the difference probably isn't going to be that important. It's just in some ways, it feels like you're settling for second best when you go with the gtst, and I guess that's how I feel about my current car. Sure, I love it, but it's no GTR. In all honesty, all I want is a sweet car that's fun to drive and gives the HSV drivers something to fear. At the moment, I have a sweet car that's fun to drive ... ... and gives SS sedans something to fear
  22. Hmmm, selling the gtst was always on my mind if I was to get a GTR but I'd need to get a loan to hold me over until I can find a buyer. I notice that daineisdabomb is selling his gtst and it looks like an awesome piece of work! If it's still for sale after the wedding I'll certainly consider making him and offer. But you're right, a worked gtst is also an option. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/an...le-t241223.html
  23. Ha, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if I couldn't drive it . Maybe I'll ask around here after the wedding and see if anyone would be willing to take me out.
  24. Thanks Terence, yeah I was thinking that myself, I'm a little hesitant to throw too much HP at the auto tranny because I don't know what it's actually capable of... I mean, I could go for a manual conversion but... sigh.. why bother? I'd actually like to take a GTR for a spin and see what I think. Does anyone know how I'd go about doing this without wasting anyone's time? I don't want to go into a dealership and test a car when I'm not actually interested in buying at that point.
  25. True true. But in all seriousness, despite knowing it was a silly thing to do; if you could go back in time you'd do it all again right?
