  1. If everything still works I should be doing sub 10s.
  2. there's a compressor with a tyre valve fitting, but you need your own pressure gauge.
  3. Where is this SnS? If I drive 31 can I keep it? I'm looking for one at the moment
  4. It was quite fun! I need to revise my goals for the car though since it goes as fast as I'd hoped but isn't finished yet Will see you guys at the SAU track day! Andrew - loud Silvia
  5. I turn up with partial noise, then race with lots of noise (it's still below track noise limits though ) either way, dollars sent!
  6. Who wants to be deafened? If I send dollars today will I make it in time?
  7. I love turn 1 With some better tyres, a properly dry track - and maybe I front bar lip I reckon I will be able to hold my car flat out all the way down the straight and through turn 1! At the moment I back off after the 100m mark, give the brakes a quick test, turn in, let it settle, then plant the right foot Reeling faster cars in through turn 1 is a lot of fun! I love the braking and turn in for turn 4. You get stupid amounts of grip as the road flattens out. I find the crest afterwards can be used to conveniently point the car at the turn in point for turn 5 too
  8. Yeah OP GP is awesome fun, but it's a lot rougher, narrower, and less forgiving. Here's a pretty dodgy video of my car at OP. This was its second test run I think, and it wasn't well sorted (two different length lower control arms w00000!) but I did a 1:25.1 which wasn't too bad This was pre-wing, so I had some trouble putting power down on a couple of mid speed corners (the helical diff needs some weight on the tyres to get it working )
  9. Oh yeah I just got back from overseas and didn't get a chance to change the tyres, so I was running super worn out ones from last time I hit the track. That and the brake pads I was planning to change wore out completely.
  10. good to see you had fun! It turned out to be a good day Andrew - loud Silvia.
  11. you should have gone anyway I was debating whether to take the Silvia or the Pulsar, since the Silvia didn't have any wet weather tyres... I woke up, it was raining, I took the Silvia anyway Had a few sessions in the wet, then it dried up and I ended up getting two sessions that were pretty dry. Due to a bit of a mix up with me not getting a transponder I only got timing for the last session, but I ran a 1:54.8 which I'm reasonably happy with
  12. 1:54.8 today at Eastern Creek in the n/a Silvia of doom. Super dodgy Kumho V70As were the tyre of choice.
  13. sweet! thanks It was a public holiday, which tends to make it a bit more expensive. Most days for the same price with timing are mid week work day ones.
  14. you'd think so, but nup - I was there when he bought them!
  15. best photos ever! The driver was there on sunday, after spending the night in hospital to make sure he was ok. He wasn't too happy about smashing the car, but he was pretty impressed with the photos!
  16. go Putty Road, New England Highway (towards Newcastle), Pacific Highway up to about Tea Gardens, then Buckett's Way (towards Gloucester), Thunderbolts Way to Walcha, then New England Highway for the rest. For a quicker run, head up the F3 and Pacific Highway, then Buckett's / Thunderbolts. You'll go through some of the best roads you'll find anywhere, and it's about an hour quicker than New England Highway from Sydney to Armidale.
  17. who wants to waft around on a cloud? Keep it real, keep it Silvia
  18. g'day! I was there too, in a very noisy black n/a S13 My general tip for people getting into track events is not to try to drive fast at all to begin with. Cruise around the track as smooth as you can, finding nice lines through corners, and gradually build up your speed during the day. Once you're going fast enough, you'll need to use the brakes more, and you can concentrate on braking smoothly as well. What I've always found is that if you work on smoothness and don't worry about speed, by the end of the day you'll find yourself going pretty fast - and without having to work too hard to do it Definitely check your suspension out to make sure it's ok, but don't worry too much about the car setup to begin with. Most of the improvement will come from driving experience, and then you can work on optimising the car.
  19. Circuit club day - Wakefield - 1:12.3 - SR20DE Silvia - second hand Kumho semis
  20. if you want to be even more precise, the acronym has generally been chaged to Tungsten In Gas these days, because a lot of TIG welding is done with a mixture of gases, not all of which are inert
  21. SR20DE (S14 version), with cams, ECU, exhaust, AFM, pod filter.
  22. so bells line was open? I wasn't sure so I went the boring way, although victoria pass is always cool I made it back in one piece, and actually got to bathurst, raced both days, and home again on one tank of fuel Go the n/a econobox My only casualty was the newly installed super tough clutch, which is now slipping so it'll have to come out again (two clutches in two weeks!)
