  1. Don't underestimate the SR20DET. Obviously this engine is not suited to lugging a heavy ass car around inark, hence it was not produced in a GTR or similar flagship model. It is like having a 6 cylinder flagship model for Holden, dosent make sense. However you could bring in the GTiR.. which in many cases can give a GTR a run for their money A S13 or similar has not got as much to offer as the Skyline, but in my opinion is a better performance orientated machine.
  2. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these XR6t...
  3. Dont forget DynoJet v DynoDynamics.....
  4. How'd you guys organise it? Did you hire out the 1/4 mile track on your own or was it just a bunch of the boys at a sceduled meet?
  5. Hmm, they really don't do it for me, but there were a couple that have gone cheap lately. I wouldn't move out of the R33 for one Whats wrong with that laser of fury dug.. it picks up ... oh i understand.. too hard to park
  6. Hi Dave, I did the R32 and it was simple. However it was 10 years old, so that meant it didnt near a 3rd tier inspection. What you'll need to do is ring the RTA to confirm, and arrange a 3rd tier inspection at one of their stations. What mods are on the car atm? Getting a blue slip passed is simple (I got mine done at Broady Automotive at Hornsby, I think you can get it almost anywhere?), but if you've got serious non standard mods or items of concern they may show up on the 3rd tier (im not sure cause I havnt done it myself) I think you'll be able to drive around on temp plates once you have a blue slip and see the RTA before their inspection.
  7. Get a quote for a 200sx.. and find out
  8. I know why: US use DynoJet: Which is about 15% driveline loss RWD (Avg?) We use DynoDynamics: Which is about 30% loss RWD (roughly) So DynoJet is more accurate (arguably) and closer to flywheel HP hence higher figure MRE: That dyno figure sounds a bit low, but you run the number, which is all that counts. You could get that 60 foot down a litte, and the MPH is good, so that is all that counts.
  9. Oh that would be bliss. I love hillclimbs. I need to hurry this car up and get my CAMS licence.
  10. Looks nice.. where/who'd you get it off?
  11. Clutch wear = According to driving - strength of clutch (+ gearbox wear) The bigger and better the clutch is, the longer it generally lasts. With a driveline you'll generally find the weakest point gets munched first, and if you're playing with monster clutches, be careful of the gearbox :uh-huh:
  12. Fuel is never a problem when you drive a bone stock 4 cylinder economy engine However providing that 98 RON is enough, there are ample locations that can be used to provide the vehicle with quality drink
  13. Especially those with quad throttle bodies
  14. Yeah sounds like a good idea, SR take on teh RBs...
  15. SR's Australia... great thinking
  16. From all report i've heard you could spectate from virtually any position you picked... and it was heaven for those who were there! Im pretty excited over the potential of this event, and as I've said I hope to see alot more variety next year, with Holden throwing down the gauntlet. Cars like the Monaro 427 are ground breakers and I think they have potential to start a new catagory of racing. Its what we all want to see, 427Monaro, V8 RWD Magna!, the Mosler, and hopefully next year more manufacturers will take to the event with their own vehicle... maybe someone will enter a GTR
  17. I'd suggest a GT2530/GT2540 and a decent front mount cooler. You'll also need a big fuel pump and a fuel regulator as you'll be pushing those injectors. Bit of dyno tuning and you should see up to 220rwkw. That will be the most friendly sort of setup, you could even play with the plenum and adapt a forward facing throttle body to remove the crossover pipe. Don't mess with a turbo any smaller, if you wanted something bigger (turbo), you'll notice it is alot less suited to what you want. Performance depends alot on your ability as a driver to put it down, and your rear end setup; tyres suspension and so forth. You'd be looking to run low 13s with that sort of power, perhaps even sneak into the 12s.
  18. Please don't buy a urban runner R33. The RB20E is so bad... save for as long as you have to and get a RB25DE version at the bare minimum.. otherwise you'll hate it. Upwards of $15K+ should get you into a RB25DE R33 GTS
  19. I assume all the engine parts would be similar, both being SR20DET (red top v black top) Get your hands on a set of S14 hubs, then you'll have a nice 5 stud pattern with decent brakes
  20. I added my 2c, of which i was entitled to. A pod will impact noise, and evidently it has here. I don't really think it is co-incidence. As I said, unless you have something special (such as a oscilloscope) you cannot see sound.
  21. No not always. Almost always. Take the stock airbox out of your car and throw in a Pod filter, then try and tell me that you didnt notice any differences in noise. How can a new pod filter make the exhaust louder? Well i didnt say that. Might want to re-read it. You have never seen this effect. Well the obvious answer to that is that we are talking about sound. So unless you have something real special there, I don't think you can actually SEE sound.
  22. Intake mods will almost always impact noise levels. You put a pod on you'll get noise
  23. The rims are 5 stud, same as the S14 200sx wheels, and theyre sold
  24. Gdzook, it had something like 300rwkw if i remember correctly. It was a DOHC 3L conversion
  25. I'll take the rims.. You've got PM
