  1. im not buying a garrett. only really got a choic between the .63 gt3582 or the .84 t04z. will the gt36 with .63 choke it up or will it be ok? will only be revving to about 7000 coz its a standaerd motor rebuild. wanna make 400rwhp
  2. the gt3582 the guy sells is only available in .63. its not garrett but meant to be good. will it be ok or should i get something else? might get another t04z with .84 t3 flange. any ideas on what power it would do on my rb25-30 with na pistons and standard head? on about 18 psi id probably run otherwise it wouldnt be in its efficiencey range possibly i dunno about them that much. just worried about making too much power for the motor and on the other end of the scale dont want it to not be working in its proper range. will crank it up later once i get another motor or some more money so i can replace it if it blows the motor.
  3. what do you guys think about a gt3582 with .63 rear on a rb25-30? will it choke it up or anything? its a standard bottomend rebuild and rebuilt standard head. just deciding on the turbo to use now coz i dont wanna make too much power (dont wanna go over 450rwhp on standard motor) and cant decide what turbo coz i want it in its good efficieny range but dont wanna make like 500rwhp on 18psi or anything like that. had a t04z .84 t3 off proboost but sold it before i used it and got the motor done. thinking of going another one of them but i dunno. i will get one off the proboost guy probably coz there good prices and are meant to be real good. i dont think he can sell me a 3582 in anything except .63 rear.
  4. what sump do i use for rb25-30 in a r33 gtst? do i use rb30 or rb25? wont be lowering the engine coz ive got a greedy plenum going on at same time. and will it run properly on standard rb25det computer? its a fresh motor so will need to run it in but im concerned it might go into rich and retard too often and not allow the rings to bed in from being too rich. (read from another guy selling a rb25 block that it didnt bed in properly coz of running too rich) i have a wolf3d computer but dont have enough to tune it and buy injectors and crap right now and only wanna tune it once and i dont have big turbo either so just wanna get it running on standard ecu if it will work. thanks guys. wanna put my sump on asap so wanna find out about that. been doing this conversion for ages. need some last info does anyone know how much the rb25 tensioners are? i do use 2 rb25 tensioners for the timing belt right?

  6. you pay about 100 to 200 for them. i got my one for free off some dude off the vl website. gave me full motor and gearbox and all the stuff. there not really worth anything. i doubt youd get many that wont be useable. there generally pretty good still with hone marks after 300000kms and stuff. if it happens to be out of round it will be fixed if you bore it out. think it cost me 60 to hone it and 180 or 250 or something to get it bored out. some wreckers want 330 for them but one guy said he gets them for 150 all the time. put up a wanted ad on here and any other websites you know and you should get one pretty quick
  7. hi mates. is there any other options i have on headbolt washers for a rb25det head? nissan want $90 for 14. can i use second hand ones possibly? i gotta take parts off the motor in the car so could do it now but was waiting to keep it drivable but would be pulling it apart in a week or so anyway. or can i re-use some rb30 ones? would they be the same? or is there any aftermarket ones or can i get some from a bolt shop maybe or something? might just pull the ones off the running motor in the car coz i dont drive it at the moment. wanna see what other options i have first but. if youve got any on brisbane northside out of a motor youve pulled down il give ya a little bit for them if they can be re-used.
  8. hi. can anyone tell me the torque settings and sequence for putting a rb25det head on? im using nissan headbolts and and nissan rb30 headgasket. putting it on a rb30 block but from what i can find you use the rb25 process. thanks mates
  9. hi guys. just about to put the head on my rebuilt rb30 bottomend. still unsure of a few things so i made this thread to get the info i need.tandard computer be able to run it while i run it in coz i dont have any money to tune my aftermarket ecu and injectors anymore so hopefully i can run it in on the standard one coz i just wanna get it going. it wont run too rich and cause the rings not to bed in will it? 1. im doing a rb25 head on rb30 bottomend with rb25 headbolts and a genuine nissan headgasket. what are the torque settings and stages and tightening order and process for the headbolts? 2. what oil restrictors should i get or will the standard ones in the rb30 be ok? i have a spool rear head oil drain kit to go on it also. 3. with the power steering bit that doesnt go on properly or something does it need to be modified on the block or on the powersteering bracket? i think ive read that some of them will go straight on without modifying it, think it is the block actually. if i put up a pic can someone tell me if mine will beed to be modified? will get one later if needed. 4. what sump do i use to go into my r33 gtst? rb25 or rb30? 5. do i use all the rb25 powersteering and harmonic balancer and anything else and use new rb25 belts except the timing belt? 6. if i do the engine lowering method by slotting the engine mounts can i use the current dump pipe and exhaust and everything and it will all work properly? 7. will the gearbox and tailshaft still be aligned properly after lowering the motor? that should do for now. been doing this for ages and always get stuck and dont worry about finishing it so i made this so i can get it done.
  10. this should give you a idea of where the extra is welded in. the red bit on the bottom is the new filled in with weld bit. the side line of red is the shaping of the rb30 gasket. if you dont do the red bit at the bottom the rb30 gasket only seals on about 1-1.5mm of surface. by welding it you get full surface area. cost me $110 to get it welded and shaped and resurfaced. i didnt know to get it done when i got the vct hole welded and the head rebuilt the first time. take about $60 off the price if you get it done at the right time so you dont pay for head refacing again like i did.

  18. hi guys. i need to get my head welded coz i didnt get that bit done when i got it reconditioned coz i didnt know about it even after reading the guide. i just got the oil hole welded and the new vct bit put in the side at the front. i just need to know exactly what to do so i can tell the shop and get it done asap. do i just get the extra welded on where the gasket would seal up if there was material there to seal on? will there be enough room for the water to flow properly coz that will block a fair bit of the rb25 hole up? should i get the bit where it overhangs inside abit where my finger is in it reshaped like the pic of it with the black line on it to make abit of extra room to flow? i didnt look too hard but i think it will be ok. do people do that or is it bad for some reason? feel free to help me out and even do a mspaint job on it to explain it properly if you can for me please. heres the pics ive got. hopefully il get an answer quickly so i can get it done and put the motor together finally. thanks
