  1. how about Walbro pump? 255L/hour (the gtr is 190L/hour) and they cost $180 NEW from www.mercurymotorsport.com.au
  2. well they flow 190L/hour... I'm sure that there is a formula that can be used to spit out a HP or KW figure for you.. but in as a comparison, the Walbro 255L/hour fuel pumps are rated as 500hp capable. AND, cost $180 new.
  3. just something that I wanted to ask for my own benefit.. S13 180sx SR20det = 275NM @ 4000rpm (according to autospeed) and 150kw @ 6000rpm R32 gtst rb20det = 263NM @ 3200rpm (according to autospeed) and 158kw @ 6200rpm I thought that the JAP spec sr would be better matched with the RB (as it is jap only) both at 10psi boost. both have 8.5:1 comp ratio.. my question is, sure the SR displays more torque, but it is at 800rpm later. and the S14 sr20det says 265nm @ 4800rpm. that is 2nm more than the RB but at 1600rpm later.. Maybe autospeed has incorrect facts (wouldn't be the first time) but doesn't the fact that the max torque is higher in the rev range sort of cancel it's advantage out and make both engines pretty much even? Also, does anyone know the weight of a complete RB20det and SR20det?
  4. Well it is just an opinion.. I guess from personal experience.. I'm sure there are certain things that you could put down about the RB20 apart from the lower torque figure in standard form which most amatures state.. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of both engines and just try to absorb all that I can.
  5. I'm just adding to this post so that I can get an alert when an update is made. Now that OMG has joined in on this, I am happy to just sit back and learn. OMG - I've read a few of your inputs on the silvia forums and it's always insightful. You obviously know your SR's back to front, inside out and perhaps from other UN-discovered angles. Sydkid - you're the same with your RB series so it's always interesting.. Lets keep our ego's and emotions out of it and have a decent informative thread here.. You know what would be good, to be in the same room/workshop with OMG and Sydkid having a chat about these engines.. I'm in!!
  6. just for a few other options.. Z32 300ZX TT fuel pump = 255L/h - probably pick one up for about $200 used. Walbro fuel pump =255L/h - cost is $180 NEW from www.mercurymotorsport.com.au
  7. those of you with lifter noises, have you tried a different oil? I have a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 so I KNOW about Lifter noise. Mine has reduced heaps when I changed to Motul 4100 TurboLight oil. Cost = $39.95 for 5L I bought mine from Autojoy at Burwood Westfields. It is fully synthetic, and seems to be heaps cheaper than other synthetics I'ev seen/used. It might be worth a try for you guys too.
  8. thanks Tony. That is what I was getting at. the picture above is with the engine out of the car so I guess it would be easier. I also wanted to make a point that on an RB20 or RB25, you would have to have changed a WHOLE host of other parts, and be making HUGE power before the standard plenums become the restriction.
  9. yes it does. works fine for me.
  10. Truer words were never spoken.
  11. it's been proven before that you don't need the plenum changed unless you are flowing enough air for over 450hp.. also as mentioned before, it is a bastard of a job to do yourself and very expensive to make someone else do it for you (unless you know people in the trade who feel that they need a huge headache)
  12. Damn straight.. Helpful no matter how simple our questions may be to him.
  13. 145 db from the exhaust?? Bullshit!!! Do you have any idea what 145 db sounds like? Car stereos that are almost gut wrenching make about 130db..
  14. 3 things I can guess at.. 1.) spark plug gap is too big. try re-gapping them to 0.8mm 2.) AFM is dirty and neesd cleaning or there is a leak between the afm and the throttle body. You said you already checked the cooler piping but what about the induction pipe from the afm to the turbo..? 3.) bolts on the turbo manifold have come loose causing you to loose boost through there before it gets in to the exhaust side of the turbo. If this is the case, it will soon blow the turbo gasket requiring a new one (which is about $20) but putting it on is a pain in the arse and will cost about $150 for a professional to do. hope that helps. TT
  15. well what ever.. I was just stating that "not enough to get excited about" was not a very good reply. 140rwkw is what you would be looking at.
  16. Yeh by your standards.. but what if he just came from a Lancer to this?
  17. my friend here at work has a 1994 180sx red top sr20det. pod filter 3 inch turbo back exhaust 10psi 141rwkw hope that helps.
  18. everyone complains and picks on the movies, then they all watch it AT LEAST ONCE.. They are movies, they are for entertainment.. I don't know about you but GTR's, EVO's, muscle cars, Eva Mendez... That to me is entertainment... and I WILL go see the 3rd one..
  19. is your car engineered?
  20. have you checked out the legalities of this conversion? I didn't think it was street legal..
  21. Yeh I've met Linus once or twice with the SNSW guys.
  22. YOU missed my age.. hahaha anyway, I see enough of them at lunch at Westfields everyday...
  23. yeh at eds... bah.. it's alright as it is.. I don't particularly want to get to work 1:21 seconds earlier.. hahahaha
