JapLink's warranty covers you after modifications, as long as those modifications are carried out by a workshop and you have receipts to prove it. You're right though, they're very good blokes to deal with, the owner Sami is a top bloke and always friendly. Personally I mod the car myself and forget about the warranty because the money I save on doing the work myself is worth more than whats covered in the warranty anyway (for most components). I still get my car serviced by them though because they're still reasonably priced, friendly and got a good workshop and rep.

Sourcing Power For Boost Gauge
ProphetR33 replied to will-32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Why dont you have it running off the accessories wire from your stereo. I have all my gauges powered off that. Unless you are mounting your pods on your pillar and have a problem running wires that far, I reckon thats the easiest place to run wires off. -
I didn't know Spain was in South America. Funnily enough I thought it was in Europe. Or are you talking about a different Spain?

Dodgy Things You Have Done To Your Cars
ProphetR33 replied to rgr34's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Who hasn't? I thought that was standard practice I did that to mine on the weekend, going to goto clark rubber to get a square sheet of rubber that I can cut the 3 inch circle out of and slide into the square hole like a grommet. -

Your boost shouldn't increase from a FMIC install. -
What Mods Can I Do To My Stock R33
ProphetR33 replied to Skyline_95GTS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your first steps should be front/dump pipe ($250-300), hi-flow cat ($150-200). Then get a boost controller (so you don't overboost), FMIC and then look at a computer. -
The cooling pro coolers are perfectly symmetrical in every direction. You can run the cooler any direction it doesn't matter. Whoever fitted it just fitted it with the writing facing towards your car, you could remove it and flip it over if you want, it doesn't matter.

Spluttering After Exhaust Install
ProphetR33 replied to ProphetR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not sure about which sparks I'm running at the moment, I'll crack it open and have a look when I get a chance. Thanks for all the help guys its much appreciated, when my boost controller arrives I'll just run it on 7 PSI to be safe at the moment, then check the sparks on the weekend. -
Spluttering After Exhaust Install
ProphetR33 replied to ProphetR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah its a GTST. Boost is hitting around 10 PSI. A boost controller should be arriving on monday, I thought that the boost may be spiking (I couldn't see it when I was driving but 10 PSI isn't far from 12 so it may be the case), but as you said, its probably not that if its not losing power. The boost controller should stop the spiking (if its there), then I'll look to see if its in fact the coilpacks. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Hopefully its not the coilpacks, as my knowledge is pretty limited when it comes to ignition problems. -
Hey guys, I installed a Trust Power Extreme II system on my R33 today, now when I give it a squirt the engine chokes and splutters at 5,000rpm almost on the dot every time in any gear except for first. There is no loss of power except for a bit of hesitation when it splutters. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it. My mods are only 3 inch dump/front pipe, 3inch hi flow cat, 80mm trust exhaust, pod filter and FMIC with the standard solenoid grounded. I don't have an aftermarket ECU, so does this mean I'll be needing a tune or is it an injectors problem, sparks, coil packs or anything.... It's only happened since I installed the catback, it was fine with the dump and cat done previously. Any ideas?

Thats another attitude I don't agree with. Personally if you love your car, you're an enthusiast. If you just buy your car to thrash it without appreciating it you're a hoon. I'd hardly call someone who buys a ferrari without spending money on modding it a hoon, they're an enthusiast. I can appreciate the work someone puts into a car, I can also appreciate someone who just loves their car the way they bought it. Modding isn't for everyone, but anyone who can take great pleasure in just going for a spin in their car is an enthusiast in my book. How big your bank balance is doesn't determine how big of an enthusiast you are. I don't care what car anyone drives, if they love what they're driving then why should we care? Everyone has different tastes, and have different pleasures in life. -

Holden Monaro, FPV Typhoon, HSV GTS all not performance cars? Thats like saying nissan don't have performance cars because they have nissan tiida -
Fair enough, I've always been told that, so I assumed it was true. Always happy to be corrected though, thanks for clearing that up.

Once you start going into the realm of over 3inches the gains are minimal if anything at all. And possibly losing low down torque due to lower back pressure. Go a 3 inch system thats lighter. That'll reap the best rewards.

Does it really matter? You can buy a datsun 1200 for $1000 and spend 20grand on an engine to get it to run 10secs. Does it make it a car that you would buy? Everyone likes the styling or driving characteristics of their car for some reason, its all personal preference. Not everything revolves around how fast your car does a quarter in. -

And there's a 2000 camaro concept that does it in 2.7. I think you missed the point of my post. -

This has to be one of the dumbest threads. I'm sure they're looking at this and saying the same thing about us "Gee they look like idiots". The thing about cars is, everyone who is an enthusiast hates cars that are not like their own. V8 drivers call turbos ricers. Turbo drivers call them bogans. Get over it. If you're happy with your car, who cares what anyone else thinks, its a personal choice, and the amount of carrying on going on in this thread makes you look just bad as them bitching about a turbo beating them. Big woop, I know plenty V8s that could absolutely destroy most turbos. Its the way the world works, and the fact of the matter is no matter how good your car is, someone out there is always going to be better. -
Driving with a suspended license will get you a fine well over $1000 and at least 18 months without your license. I don't think getting your car impounded for 2 or 3 days will seem like such a big loss somehow.

Just fill the screw heads with solder.... They only use them for crime or a trophy plate on their bedroom wall. Solder will annoy them enough that they'll just move onto the next car not trying to scrape it out.

If you're going to mod your car a fair amount then go for it. If you're only going to mod it mildly, then I would go for smaller piping and core. But hey if the price is right then take it, you may not even notice the extra lag over a smaller core, I'm just saying a core and outlets that big really isn't necessary.
