  1. havnt had internet for a couple of days so this is a little late but , i stayed up and watched the race and it was one of the best this season. Then one of my workmates informs me the next day lewis has been stripped of his win. BULLSH*T. Lewis did what he had to do to avoid an accident. If the shoe had been on the other foot and kimi had avoided contact with Lewis, he would have been praised for not taking out hamilton when doing so would have helped ferrari (specifically massa). Hamilton may have gained from his shortcut but he also clearly let Kimi back infront before repassing him, job done i say. This incident really isnt going to do much for the popular perception that ferrari owns the FIA and i would go so far as to say that this incident we be front and centre in my thoughts next time i see some smug knob driving a ferrari around town.
  2. the race had its moments but mostly it was hamiltons/massa's mechanical failures and the first two laps that provided any entertainment. i think circuits like this where the cars are running higher downforce and the lack of corners suitable for overtaking meant it was harder for the real racers to shine, hence a race dominated by strategicly timed pitstops. i think Kimi and lewis both proved why they are the better raceday drivers despite massa leading for so long and heikki finishing in front of hamilton. yeah i know LH could have managed his tyre usage better but isn t it the maclaren teams job to comunicate any potential in race tyre wear issues to their driver before it punctures. i find it a little surprising webbers one lap pace and good qualifying skills didn t translate to a better result. Maybe the dip in red bulls performance is due to the dreaded "we are developing next years car" syndrome.
  3. To the massa fans who believe their hero is being unfairly berated as a crap driver i say wake up he only pulled a 4 second gap on lewis hardly a thrashing, at silverstone in the rain (the great equalizer that slow teams pray for) he was the worst driver on the grid. Ferrari would be mad not to replace massa at the end of the year. how good was timo glock that was a great drive for toyota.
  4. It seems unlikely to me that the so called 'fringe dwellers' bringing in R35 GTRs could possibly be eating into nissans australias future sales. Most of the grey R35s i have heard about aren t being brought in for joe average, they are promotional tools for workshops, import dealerships or race teams. My point is that, sure people are cashing in on nissan australias own inability to land a saleable car in australia, but demand for a 150k+ grey import with none of the dealer support usually available has got to be fairly limited. Meanwhile potential customers for a new nissan oz backed GTR in 2008 are hardly going to be holding their breath waiting for a watered down version to land here in two years time.
  5. maybe your clutch master cylinder is on the way out, it could be struggling if you have a upgraded clutch plate.
  6. go back to the stocky if you still have a standard crossover pipe, otherwise just delete it and get ready to be entertained as cops seach high and low through your engine bay looking for the dreaded blow off valve.
  7. i brought second hand JICs they have lasted well, they are very hard ride too.
  8. i personally think the amount of bullsh*t you go through upgrading to a bigger motor really means your comitting to at least another 2 or 3 years of 32 ownership which gives you plenty of time to sort a good allround setup out on a 25 or 30. I do agree that you can get great results from the RB20 though and it has definitly been proven on this forum. Also cubes i hear what your saying about my turbo size .82 would be great but i ended up just using a smaller one i already had, and yep she peaks at 5500-6000 i really thought the VCT would help it rev but it didn t do much for power just gave the torque curve another lump at least i can cruise round town in fifth saving juice now. roy as for n othing being 100% reliable i guess thats true except for one 4AGEcorolla i used to drive....
  9. The thing to consider with gtst power ups is all the extra expenses you face when going over 200rwkw. Once your car is putting out this level of power you start to realize the other limitations of the car and chassis, suspension, brake and tyre upgrades dont come that cheap (also trying to get your speedo to work with a 25box is a challenge). My rb30 only does 200rwkw with a small internal gate turbo at 15psi, of course it has great response and torque but i do miss the old RB20 lagmaster and its rev happy nature. The best thing about the new engine is knowing its 100% reliable at these power levels, with my old RB20 setup i always knew something would break sooner or later. It turned out to be a track day in darwin at 35 ambient temps and some overboosting that killed my RB20.
  10. they are getting a bit old now but if your lucky and previous owners did proper maintenance you can do the zorst and boost thing and spank em pretty hard before they break. The lack of torque is just more of an incentive to revs the guts out.
  11. need to change your name from skyline-driver to skyline-crasher bro!!!!
  12. I kinda agree that there is a tendancy to look back at the group A era fondly while forgeting some of its failings. The fact that V8supercars rounds can put even the most hardened motorsport enthusiasts to sleep or get them searching for a remote to see whats on SBS is in my own opinion a sign that the recipe needs to change whether it be less rounds, more manufacturers or different regs. Maybe we just need to accept than our small population and highly regulated car industry cannot continue to support motorsport at this level and settle for better coverage of a wider range of classes of motorsport.
  13. I think the lack of personality in the drivers plays into it a little Lewis hamilton vs garth tander, Valintino rossi vs mark winterbottom there is no peter brocks, dick johnsons or jim richards (YOUR A PACK OF A$$HOLES).
  14. motorsport is reliant on TV ratings giving value for money spent by sponsors, if V8supercars is in trouble it doesn t take a genious to work out its because its because the veiwers arent tuning in. Personally the only round i bother to watch each year now is bathurst because compared to other forms of motorsport on telly most V8 events are pretty boring. Compare your average V8 round to the likes of moto GP or formula one which are both enjoying fasinating championships this year then factor in the rise of the internet as a form of entertainment and the abundance of crap available on pay TV channels and who really has time to watch australias premier form of motorsport anyway, let alone get off the couch and go to the circuit. When bernie eccelstone was questioned recently about falling crowd numbers he pointed out it doesnt matter to him if no one shows at the circuit as long as a billion people watch it. If toyota's half as motorsport savvy as i think they are, they wont touch this dead duck from another era of aussie motorsport.
  15. i been a member of the drive thru n check club for ages because i have a shell at the end of my street - do the people at shell ever wonder why skylines are constantly doing drive bys on the Vpower pumps only to spot the dreaded little yellow sign on the hose.
  16. It still surprises me cops confuse these 'angry ant' racers on their 'p's who drive mums lancer or dads falcodore with people like myself, who have been driving their modified cars for years without incident. I would be very interested to know if any statistics have been gathered regarding imported versus domestic cars involved in highspeed/streetrace crashes. I suspect import cars have been getting unfarely targeted.
  17. so this why there is only a photo of work rims on the back in 32 only pix huh PS those wheels are mad pls post size/offsets once they are fitted.
  18. eggzackery if your chassis sucks whats the point in repowering it.
  19. looks like webbers luck may have finally changed, its so good to see him making the most of his qaulifying skill on raceday. Monaco also again showed why it is one of / if not the best round of F1 to watch.
  20. its because of idiots like this i had to indure a 30 minute inspection ( or pineapple insertion) by the toowoomba police in the weekend just gone and just for the record i was doing nothing wrong (except driving a skyline) when i was pulled over and the boys in blue despite crawling over every inch of my car could find nothing wrong with it. Granted in 20 million people in oz there is going to be some with bad judgement but why do we all have to suffer.
  21. nice work, it must be difficult to source parts for R32s over there. I like the front of the car but the back bar is umm... too different. Good post though well done.
  22. save the bux and go 25/30 in a 32 gtst
  23. This is probably not much use as its only hooked up at one end and the photo was taken on a mobile but anyways check it out.
  24. so is the moral of this thread to shop around til you find a dyno that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling in your jocks? or is it that pods, FMICs and zorts dont necessarily deliver big rwkw boosts. personally i would be a little worried if the car could be proven to be underpowered in a back to back run against a similar setup.
