not the exhaust gas but the sensor on the outside of the exhaust -

lm-1 manual just says after turbo & before cat, also states 'The maximum temperature of the sensor at the bung (the sensor hexagon) should not exceed 500 oC' I might get infa red temp gauge from work and see how hot the stock o2 gets (not sure if it read that high though). -

yeah thats was what i was trying to find out, maybe I will move it, it doesn't say anything about 2 feet in my manual. -

Well if I can just run the o2 sensor from the stock o2 hole as SK said he does. I might just do that for now. I did my first datalog and everything seems to works really well, my afr's are dropping into the 9's!! (stock computer bigger turbo/injectors(pfc died and is in japan getting fixed)) -

yeah read something about using the lm-1 narrow band output (0-1V) to drive a gauge not 100% though. The lm1 has analog outputs for ecu's I believe it can interface with datalogit and the emanage ultimate for data logging not sure about any others. That link doesnt work.. -

I think innovative sell dash AFR gauges/displays as well to connect with their WB's pretty sure a narrow band would be pretty useless as an idication to an AFR display as it can't tell you how rich or how lean -

yeah instructions were a bit vague I thought. All they said is that it can't be mounted upside down because of condensation, or before the turbo because of heat not much else really. But I'm having a bit of a read though the innovative forum before I install. -

ah awesome thanks for the picture. Where do you run your cable when the sensor is plugged in? just up into the engine bay then under the back of the bonnet and through the window? -

ok, I'll take it to an exhaust shop and get that bung chucked in down that way. Thanks. -

do you mean 10cm up from the bend at the bottom of the dump pipe where it goes off to the cat? is it hard to get in and out? I'm not going to leave it in permanently. Did you have to mount it upside down to fit there? -
hey question for the guys with widebands installed. Where did you mount your sensors? I got the LM-1, can it be installed into the stock 02 sensor hole? or does it need to be further down stream just dont want to wreck the sensor from excessive heat.

Standard R33 Boost Control
SevenAngryPenguins replied to ~R33AzzA~'s topic in Forced Induction Performance
^^^ thats wrong why do you want to hook the stock boost solenoid back up??? If you use the stock rubber pipe with the restrictor in and plug one end into the wastegate and the other end onto the intercooler pipe apparently it will run right about ten psi, Mines long gone so I cant confirm. If you want to hook the stock control back up: big hose comes off intercooler pipe goes to 'T' piece then to actuator, small rubber hose goes from 'T' piece to solenoid top or bottom, then small rubber hose comes off the other hole on the solenoid and goes to the rubber intake pipe I think can't remember exactly, that was off the top off my head so may be wrong -
I found these couple of pics of mbt curves, it seems that they are rather flat around the top (i know these are generalisations) with a few degrees +/- not having a huge impact on torque. I read on here somewhere that once you go past mbt that cyclinder temps go up dramatically, is this true? I also read on here (from sk) that hes never seen an rb loose power from advancing the ignition more and that knock is the limiting factor. I guess what i'm getting at is when I go to set my ignition should I advance it until it knocks and then back it off 4 or 5 degrees in that area. SAU is my main knowledge base at the moment to feel free to steer me in the right direction.

ah cool im sure I will have plenty of q's when I get started. I know I'm throwing myself in the deep end but this is something I want to learn how to do, just for the satisfaction of saying i did it myself. So fingers crossed I dont blow my engine up
-
well that would be a big problem wouldn't it, but that could happen to anyone really, I guess ill know there is something wrong if it starts knocking like crazy, but im sure there are other side affects that your talking about egt's emissions?. Why all the negativity about someone trying to learn how to tune themselves, considering you did it or did you just upload a program into your head like the matrix?
-
this is true, but you have to start somewhere don't you I'll just be very conservative with my boost, ignition and afr's till i feel more confident at tuning then I will get it checked over by a professional
-
well I can and I did and I'm going to try even if I have to learn the hard way
-
i'd like to know this as well as i've decided to tune my car myself....wideband is on the way:)
