  1. You can do it. Won't be able to use VCT run from the ECU. You'll need some kind of external RPM switch.
  2. 2.8 bar Search dude. This has been covered seventybizzilion times on here.
  3. Safer than having a bottle of nitrous in the trunk. How many people do that? Soda machines all use CO2, so you could fill up anywhere that distributes those tanks. Still, they aren't good for much other than pre-spraying before a run to ward off heat soak.

  5. Will you PLEASE look up CO2 intercooler sprayers before you continue anymore discussion about this. You will see they are doing EXACTLY what you are talking about, with out the dangers or cost.
  6. The man has a point
  7. You liquid nitrogen idea has kind of been done already in a much more econmical fashion. CO2 intercooler sprayers do the same thing, except they can be filled up anywhere that services soda pop dispensing machines. Water/meth injection is completly different.
  8. There are more newb's on here worying about their cars "sucking" or "dosing" or "chuchuchu'ing" then I have ever seen.
  9. I'm not sure who that was aimed at I think most of the posters in this thread understand the fact that weight has just as much an effect as power for a given mph. That's why I mentioned asking for the weight in the original post as well as several subsequent posts. I was more looking for results people have gotten and less of a debate. I wholeheartedly agree that there are way to many factors even besides weight that come into play to call people dyno figures BS Somebody said it best earlier in the thread. MPH vs. E.T./weight/60' can give a good indication of how much faster the car could go with it's current setup. MPH vs. weight is only a broad indicator of what kind of power somebody is making. Unless somebody is claiming 600rwhp with 110mph trap speeds, I really don't see how you can call BS. Dyno read outs are ONLY good for two things IMHO. Comparing to other cars that have run ON THE SAME DYNO, and seeing what kind of gains or losses you make when adding parts or tuning (again, from the same dyno). For all the nay sayers about traction effecting mph (2rismo comes to mind), Okinawa has EXTREMELY slippery roads. I get my times from a Gtec as mentioned. My best run is an 11.8 @ 124mph, and my best mph is 128 mph on drag radials with a 2.0 60'. I put street tires on and I cut 2.3 60's and 12.4-12.8 at 117 to 120 mph. That's almost a 10mph difference just changing tires. All that being said, it might be easier/a bit more accurate to say "your R32 GTSt has XXX rwhp because you ran XXX mph" if you are talking about 2-300rwhp cars running 14's and 13's. You start getting down into the 12's, 11's, 10's, etc, and I think it's real tough to make a "BS!" call on somebody's dyno sheet.
  10. Atmospheric correction factor. Tell the dyno the air pressure is 28.83 and the air temp is 110 degrees. Define "most accurate". Do you mean lowest reading?
  11. Just leave the center valley cover off and unbolt them. The bolts only take a second or two. One bolt would be fine, and maybe that's what I would do. Worst case though, I don't see how it could hurt anything other than making it miss on the dyno.
  12. If your looking to go big like 700hp and maybe go higher later, I'd look at the HX52 for sure. That's big power kinda stuff for sure. Drag racing or something else? I think maybe you mentioned maybe hill climb, but I'm not at all familiar with that. I can tell you an HX52 wouldn't be good for any kind of tight course stuff (on a RB25 at least). From the dyno's I have seen on the DSM boards, they come on a bit quicker than a GT4088? (not sure about the GT40 numbers), but they said they think they should make power somewhere between a 40r and a 42r. I'm seriously thinking about putting one on myself, and if I do, I'll post up vids galore, have no fear. I think it will be pretty much a drag car from that point on, but I think you said you had an RB30? I think a HX52 would suit that perfectly.
  13. Look for the assembly number ending in 996 for the HX52's. It's a 16cm ex housing and provides great spool with plenty of flow for 700-750rwhp. How much hp are you looking for again? I'm going to have to go back and look. This thing is a HUGE turbo (like T88 or GT42r kinda power) so keep that in mind. Like I said, I couldn't watch the tach to see what it was spooling at because it was all I could do to keep the car pointed front end forward in 3rd My general inpression in the short time I had to drive it was great spool up time for the RPM, but the transient response (like already at 5k rpm at light throttle then stepping on the gas spool time) was a bit on the slow side. It's a MASSIVE wheel though. For your friend with the HX40, tell him to stick with the 19cm housing. They don't make a T4 16cm, but I think that would be to small for him anyways unless he is putting it on a RB20. He was already spouting off something about how all modern turbochargers are hybrids in another thread. I wouldn't pay him much mind.
  14. I can't say that I agree with a word of that. They might be considered quick spooling in general due to the smaller than normal exhaust side in proportion to the compressor, but this can have very negative effects like very high back pressure/low knock threshold. No way all modern performance turbochargers are considered hybrid turbochargers. Is a GT30r? GT40r? Borg-Warner 368? I agree with all that right up to the price thing. You already know my affinity for Holsets, and they are less than $500 used on ebay, but they are $2000 new
  15. I think the OP is probably talking about ebay T3/TO4e turbos. That being said, what I said before still stands. Saying T3/T4 turbo means nothing. The OP should provide a link or a company or SOMETHING about the specific turbo he is talking about, unless he is just trying to have a general descusion about the advantages/disadvantages of running a turbo with a much smaller exhaust wheel/housing compared to it's compressor side.
  16. Yeah, looks like a fakey to me for sure. I doubt Holset has farmed out work to the chinese, and notice it doesn't actually say HOLSET anywhere on teh front of the turbo. Abotu the BW, sounds like the guy is trying to sell you his more expensive turbo to me. BW's are great performers from what I've seen. The extended tip versions look to outperform Holsets by a bit. Thing is, they are over a thousand USD. Like I said before, my main draw to the holsets is their price to performance ratio. If I'm going to spend over $1k USD, that would broaden my turbo options a lot. BW's would still probably be near the top of my list though. From a strictly performance perspective in the 600rwhp area, the BW would probably be a little better suited as the HX40 might not be able to make that, or just barely make it. Much over 600rwhp though, I'd start looking at the HX52 which is something I'm doing now. I drove one on a stock bottom end'd RB25 in a S14 the other night. That thing is scary. It comes on REAL fast. I was concentrating to much on keeping the thing pointed straight to watch the tach, but it was really quick spooling. We blew up the motor BTW. Bent a connecting rod like a bannana. Stock pistons looked perfect though. Ring lands all looked great, but the rod didn't
  17. That could possibly be THE most vague question I have EVER heard. T3, T4, etc, are all exhaust flanges. That's all they are. You are asking if a car with 4 wheels is any good.
  18. Could you use one of the adapters you guys use for the RB30 block to RB26 sump?
  19. I don't know what to tell you. I have seen two motors with bent valves that had an HKS cam gear which had slipped all the way to max adjustment. I doubt it was tuned that way and just a coincidence. And HKS is really good at one thing with their parts. Adevertising. Nevermind, two things. Advertising and over charging for rebadging other peoples products.
  20. Some of you interested in Holsets from that particular ebay company may find this interesting............ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Procurement...%3A1|240%3A1318 Copied from their ebay page for when it gets taken down which I know it will (does that tag look familiar?)..... Wuxi, China turbocharger production base holset with production base in Wuxi There are many in Wuxi turbocharger manufacturers High quality low price If you need to contact me please and tell me models I will give you price We can provide HOLSET turbo-charger and some other own-brand turbo-chargers produced by some local OEM manufacturers (with more favorable price)
  21. Well, crappy HKS gears sliding all the way to the extreme of adjustment on there own could throw it off enough o trash the valves while keeping everything still turning and screwing the rest of them up. I would rather run cheap ebay knock off timing gears than those HKS pieces of crap. Unfortunatly, my cams have already been dialed in with them, so my HKS cam gears are going to stay put for the next couple months.
