  1. looks like the gearbox is out of alignment, the fingers on the pressure plate have an ellipse shaped wear mark. the bearing is the same and the snout has wear markings on the top of it that has resulted in a slight lip which explains the change in clutch feel lately as the lip got worse so did the clutch. this tells me that the gearbox is positioned slightly too high compared to the engine. MRC are going to swap my bell housing and adapter plate for new ones that have been made at a different engineering firm. the clutch itself looks alright. not as bad as I originally thought.
  2. it's laser, s not z as in Light Amplified Stimulated Emission of Radiation. but yeah my guess is needs alignment, and hopefully the clutch is still OK
  3. clutch is buggered, sticks on the floor and is either on or off pedal feels like it binding. pretty much impossible to drive. hope the actually clutch face and pressure plate are fine other wise I've paid $2500 for a clutch that only lasted two months. VERY PISSED OFF! still have find out what caused it, hopefully the custom bell housing was aligned properly.
  4. gotta find rear brembo's first. problem is that i hate the fibreglass wide guards everyone has out for 180sx's, I used to have a set on it and I hated them. I'll get a second pair of fenders and weld in another inch of metal at the inside edge, that way I'll still have stock looking guards.
  5. it's actually about 20kg heavier than the CA18DET that was in it. but a standard 180 is pretty limited on Tyre width up front because of the the narrow guards and factory offset. I'm pretty much limited to 8 inch wide unless i pump the front fenders. which is why S13's have so many widebody front fenders available for them. I can fit 10inch wide rims on the back the moment after extensively rolling the rear guards with a 2 inch metal pole. It's true test will come at the texi. we'll see if it turns then.....all else fails, clutch kick!
  6. bump, and 33gtr rear brembo as well
  7. I've already put a wanted to buy up for rear brembo's, i think the plan will be put them on with the entire rear cradle along with front ones and try and find wheels after the fact, because the 32gtr 16inch one will be useless.
  8. Wanted to buy: R32 GTR v-spec rear calipers brembo.
  9. Does anyone think it's worth trying to brembo rear brakes to match the front? Feels wrong to have them on the front and not the back.

    Drag Day

mickey T's? hope you've got strong axles lol, and i'm in. P.S GTRsean we might need to con bonehead into being the support for it
  11. project 450sx is about to start it's second stage. just bought 32gtr v-spec brembo front brakes with two piece rotors and a complete 32gtr rear sub frame from FATZ (much appreciated!). this conversion will be also modifying the front guards so i can fit a approx +15 offset 9 inch wide wheel on the front (because GTR offset wheels hit the front suspension). If it didn't stop before it will now, this also means I'll need to modify the tail-shaft............again.
  12. we don't even know if the 18's will fit in front, at least not till this weekend anyway. but if they do i'll be looking for a set of 18's. still don't know what design though. 180sx's can never have enough GTR parts. stay tuned for the new fuel tank, estimates look like it will in the range of 90-100 liters, which will be good because it gets 300km's to a tank now. hopefully will get that started in a month or so. new fuel tank will be shortened on the right hand side for duel 3in exhaust, and raising boot floor to get extra fuel space.
  13. test fitted gtrseans r34 rims on back as well as sloans 17*9.5 xd9's what does everyone think, should go an 18 or 17, personally i think the 17's look to small. and i can run a 275 on the back with room for more when running 18's
  14. you shot who in the what now?
  15. haven't taken it to the drags yet, but even I will struggle to beat a 4wd launch from a r34 GTR, especially one that's as responsive as Sean's. if a GTR doesn't launch it, i have a good chance, just ask Sloan lol.
  16. update time, car runs well, apart from the expected small things. it's now apparent that grip is now an issue, not in a straight line sense but in lateral grip (although it does chirp into third). some of this well be remedied by suspension as the rear needs to be raised and front needs further dampening. most of the problem seems to because the car has so much torque response it's easily unsettled, and i know i can get more out the car with extra lateral grip and be faster out of the corners as well as more stable. going to try test fitting GTR offset 17*9.5 to see if they clear the inner suspension, and hopefully will be able to significantly increase front tire width at the same time. time to pick wheels!. anybody got suggestions?
  17. I'm in, it'll be the 450sx's first cruise.
  18. At least the clutch should this time, couldn't hold a second burn out last time. Plus I wanna hear what the commentator says and crowds reaction, he was struggling to work out the hell was going on with GTRsean's 85 civic.
  19. Thanks, don't know what to attempt first. The interior re-trim or fuel system and roll-cage.
  20. 80 km before a 300kw gtr even comes on to boost, I like it already. And I will run it down wsid and see what it does with a standard vh45de. Hopefully it does better than the 13.9 that the ca18det did. Also Hope to get better than 300 k's to a tank when it's using not in the knock map. Already got a name for a guy who does rollcages in mcgraths hill.
  21. Cars now running at full power after GTRsean repalced the knock sensor inputs with two 560 ohm resistors........and I can't drive it becuase in perth for two weeks for work.
  22. Somehow worked out how to do this on a mobile... I've tried everything to try and get the windscreen wipers to stop making that noise. I'm thinking crazy clean with some alcohol or rainex it. I'm pretty sure that godspeed s14 has cams and drag radials on that 11 second run.
  23. floor plan apparently another name for manifold......
  24. you forgot about the part..... and not double clutching like you should. It's 60cc within the boost-able range for the ADR's and well within for NSW regs for the original weight of the car. i still think an AWD supercharged VH45 R34 GTR needs to be done Sean, come on you know you want to! despite the fact the maximum engine na size for a r34 gtr is in the range of over 7litres. for all the peeps out there: for cars over 1100kg you can get the maximum allowed na engine size by multiplying your cars original tare weight by 4.4 for ADR's and 4.82 for nsw regs. these figures are lower for turbo engines. e.g an 1100kg car can have an na engine of 4.84 litres for adr's and 5.302 litres in nsw. this means you could twin turbo an ls1 and put it in your r33 Matt. hint hint.
