been going through john unqiue autosports. vh45de's are mental does 226rwkw with only an aftermarket airfilter and exhaust, and allows me to do a 13.1 sec 1/4 mile. and even then I have to launch at only 1500 rpm or I get massive axle hopping.

i started my month off work yesterday, no work till december. bring on the beard.

somehow i managed to be talked into a twin side draft weber manifold and carbies, and the plan is to put the biggest cam the stock rockers will allow. who knew spool made forged rods for them. it will sound wicked, weather it goes anywhere in hurry is up to debate. it was supposed to be a daily, so much for that idea.

is it bad that the 79 two two door corolla i bought off a work mate had 30 degrees timing when GTRsean and I did a quick tune up today? althrough it does explain the noises it was making.......and why it looks like it head gasket is on the way out.

new exhaust muffler and new twin metal cats. everyone will be able hear the 2nd gear burnouts tommorow.

long time no post...well here's whats new, nothing other than finally got a nistune from unique autosports. the result? 30 kw gain at wheels. something tells me nissan undertuned these alittle.
-
got a new three core, triple pass, crossflow, copper radiator and new fan mounts that should keep it cooler. the radiator hoses are no longer 5mm away from the alternator. yay. will have to test it at texi. pics to come.
-
will give it the beans repeatedly, disconnecting the entire exhaust from the headers doesn't count as a screamer pipe right? by the way beaker I bought a "92" vh45 ecu so i can nisstune. but it won't arrive in time . and what do you want in your package I'm sending?

great now i'm going to have to put the 4.11 back just to keep up again........ but seriously looks good, keen to hear and see it go......hard! will have to go cruising when i get back buddy. -
there's no outright correct way to do a CAI, behind the headlight is just usually the cheapest because that's where most factory air-box's are. A good CAI needs to be in a position where gets can get descent airflow and cold ram air. This can even be achieved with a rear facing intake like in a induction hood, which makes use of the air piling up on the windshield creating positive pressure. which is how the old school NASCAR's use to run, when they used factory car's like the camaro back in the 60's and apparently was good for 15-20hp when you were above 150km/h. but that is not as efficient as the front of the vehicle. the power increase will never be great but the main reason you should do a cold air intake is so the engine doesn't get hot engine bay air and increase the likely-hood of pinging and such. especially with turbo cars because the act of compression of the turbo's increases the air temp, and this is compounded when the air is hot to start with, just compare driving your car in summer and winter. but mainly just give the engine cold air who really cares where it comes from.

kinda depends on what the NA is.......

neither am I, mines not a skyline lol, i was the same with red p plates in a turbo 180sx with a big blow-off valve. can anyone say cop magnet. had cop's do u-turns on 4 line highways sirens blaring for a "random breath test" all stopped when the P plates came off.
-
yeah, but they lack torque your always rev the crap out them to get any where, needs a third rotor lol. my mates RX8 was annoying to drive around town didn't go anywhere unless you were above 6000. VTEC Honda's are way more fun. if you want a quick P plate friendly car, go and get the lightest Honda you can, like an 85 two door they only weigh about 800kg and put any descent Honda engine in it. ask GTRsean he had one with a D16 engine absolutely hammered he found for $600 and put about 2000 more in it to get road worthy. did a mid 14 sec quarter mile time. enough to beat an SV6 holden or XR6. lots of fun and very unassuming. pull your finger out Honda, hurry up an make a vtec V8 already

tempting very tempting

3.7 ratio diff is in! lot more legs now and more fuel economy. has a cool diff whine that increases as your speed does, kinda sounds like a straight cut gear set. hope this doesn't mean it'll go bang though.
-
it's the perfect size and there's no rubber or padding so the feel is wicked.
-
I've already noticed it, it behaves it self a lot better at texi's than it does on the road. it gets hot, not too hot just a tad more than normal, and it starts idling at 1500rpm to speed up a clutch fan that no longer exists. I'll have to block the induction hood up until i find a way to use it. next on the cards is suspension work mainly involving putting the R32 GTR cradle in, and get new rims, thinking 17*8 front and 17*9 rear. needs a lot more grip!

there many user certified mods car owners can do and not need an engineering cert, including engine conversions. the trick is to know your rights and be prepared to back them up with proof on the side of the road. that said my car is engineered and i still haven't been pulled over in the six or so months the cars been on the road, had a lot of cops tail me for a few minutes than disappear. my guess is because the engineering cert number goes on your rego info, they must see that and not bother. that and my exhaust is 87db. i have a nearly complete copy of the adr and nsw modified car regs for passenger cars, if want a look give me yell or you can try the rta website it will direct your to the infrastructure website where they can be viewed and downloaded. they will tell all the owner certified mods, and the requirements. as well as the requirements for engineered modifications.

after a little experiment, i found out my induction hood actually inducts air! from as little as 40km/h there positive pressure trying to make it way into the engine bay from the windscreen. now all i have to do is find a way to use it.

awesome day, really good chance to learn how the car properly handles after the engine change. needs over come some under-steer, new suspension raising rear spring height and lowering the front a tad. well that and more grip!
