  1. Hey man, I would be really interested in hearing how you get on with the wheel fitment, post some pics up when your done. I am looking at some Koya Inox Blitz rims which are 19 x 9.5 +20 offset. (They are apparently designed to fit a GTR) I really like the look of wide rims which sit flush with the outside guards but i don't want to have to go down the route of rolling and repainting guards to stop wheel rub. I used to have a subaru legacy B4 and i fitted 18 x 8 rims to this and it ended up costing me $1200 to get the rear guards sorted out to stop them fouling on the tires. (Subaru's don't have much room for big rims).
  2. Hi All, I am looking to put some rims on my Stagea Type S and I am wondering if anyone on here has tried 19 x 9.5 rims on their car. I know most perople recommend 18 x 9 +30 rims on normal Stageas. But with the different suspension on the RS and Type S (GTR rear end, I am figuring it could probably take a slightly wider rim?) Has anyone tried this and what offset would be best when running a 9.5 inch rim. The main reason I ask is there seems to be alot of 19 inch rims available with either 8.8 or 9.5 inch width but not many that come in 9 inch wide. (Unless you spend alot of money for top shelf Volk or Work style rims which are unfortunately out of my price range). Any thoughts / advice would be much appreciated.
  3. Hey very nice mate, looks just like mine..... I would be really interested in hearing how your car goes after fitting the turbo as I will be shortly looking at doing the same thing to my car. Good luck with it all
  4. I myself have a 99 RS4 Type S and I also had trouble on deciding on what to do suspension wise. In the end I have come up with the following solution for my car which I have been very impressed with and also the suspension shop that did my work also commented that it appeared to be a very well sorted ride. R33 Greddy Type S Coilovers. these are 48mm diameter monotube shocks with 36 way adjustable damping. (Had to have the Rear Billet Strut top machined to fit the standard stagea mounting as this is slightly smaller in a Stagea than in a GTR, any good workshop can do this no problem) Front Greddy springs are 8kg and the rears are 6kg. The rear springs are a little too soft and they are progressive which is no good for a wagon. (i swapped them for a set of off the shelf 8kg Eibach springs which is an easy swap) Overall the ride is really nice and I find it very comfortable, I didn't notice a huge change in comfort either when going from the standard setup to this. I am not sure what the standard settings are for a Type S but the standard suspension is pretty firm in my opinion. Also you will be glad to know the Type S comes with larger Swaybars than normal Stageas although these are hollow same as on a GTR and not solid like the Whiteline ones. All up my solution cost me about $2500, and this included paying for workshop labour. If you were doing it yourself I reckon you could do something similar for $2000. I really wanted coilovers so that is whay I went down this path but from everything I have read on the forum Sydneykids kit is very well recommended. At the end of the day if you want a safe option then get his kit, else if you want to try something different then make sure you speak to someone who knows about suspension before you hand over any money.
  5. Hi, Is this item still for sale I would be interested in buying it I am in melbourne.
  6. I have made a few upgrades to my car and now have a few std parts for sale. The car is a 99 model and had only done 58,000 kms when I replaced them. The parts all appear in to be in very good condition, Std Shocks and springs (The rears shocks have the fork bottom same as a GTR) $150 the lot. Standard S2 Intercooler no dents $100 Standard Cat Back exhaust Cat and Front pipe it appears to 2.5 inch whole way through. $100 I will also shortly have standard rotors and calipers front and rear. They rotors still look pretty good. $200 the lot. (Just about to swap for R33 GTST items) Also have a set of Greddy Type S rear springs for a R33 GTR for sale, they are almost brand new. $100 I am in Melbourne and would prefer pickup due to the size of the parts. If your interested PM me
  7. I would be enterested in these parts how much to freight them to Melbourne? Thanks Justin
  8. Thanks for the advice, I think I will get my car raised to 350mm (Centre of wheel to guard) and a new alignment and see how it drives then. Also I am interested in the whiteline swaybars. Will they fit my car being that it has a gtr rear end? Also I have had a look under my car and I can't see any sway bars there at the moment should there be some? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I don't know much about suspension.
  9. Thanks for the super fast response Sydney Kid. I believe the measurement from the centre of the wheel to where the guard starts is 33cm. Does this sound correct. The shock still looks like it has some travel left so I don't think it is hitting the bumpstops. If I adjust the rear shocks e.g. turn the hardness adjuster to make the rear harder it does harden up the rear but i still feel as if the rear is sagging a bit of that makes sense. I have never had a station wagon before so could it be my imagination as I am unfamiliar with driving a car with so much weight in the rear. I have included a couple of pics that show how it has been lowered.
  10. I have a 1999 Stagea Type S. (Manual with GTR rear end) A few months ago I upgraded the suspension to a set of Greddy Type S coilovers. They fit perfectly just had to have the rear billet strut tops machined slightly to fit. Driving feels pretty good to me not to rough and quite a nicely damped ride e.g. no bouncing down the road. But I get the feeling that maybe the rear end is a little soft. I am thinking that this is probably due to the R33 GTR rear springs. The spring rates are 8kg Front and 6kg rear. Is this a bad thing? Is it going to affect the performance of my car much? and can I do something about to solve it e.g. keep the shocks and buy another set of springs with a higher rear spring rate to make the car handle better. Any comments are most appreciated. Cheers J
