  1. HAHAHA is that right.. I have an R33 - Microtech LT12s and I am in Hobart... looking at around 400RWKW and my car is going to Brad Sheriff @ Boost Automotive. EDITED: Slander removed from post GMB
  2. Hi guys, I am coming to the end of a 12 month project on my car. The character limit would stop me from posting my mod list but any way its an RB30DET, I am running individual Bosch coil packs mounted on the firewall and 900cc injectors. I put my Microtech LT12s in with its base tune. I have to trailer my car 200Km to a dyno tuner so I want to make sure every thing is perfect when I get there so I don't have to trailer it all the way back. If I try to start my car the starter motor just turns the engine over and there is no ignition what so ever, no firing at all. You would kind of expect this considering base tune is for 370cc injectors and I am running 900cc injectors but surly there is petrol there you would think at least a pop or something from it. I checked for sparks and there is defiantly spark there, those botch coils throw a huge spark. I am not too sure about fuel though, I can't tell if the injectors are pulsing. Also the microtech makes a wierd noise when you try and start the car, like there is a relay inside the microtech turning on and off really quickly. Sounds like a buzzer but I assume its a relay. I changed my a few things on the microtech to lower the fuel down and it makes no difference.

My car is not finished yet But as soon at it is I will be hitting that strip ASAP.
  4. Hi all, I am after side skirts and maybe a rear bar for my 4 door series 1 R33. I have a 400R front bay but I killed one of my custom GTR style side skirts and I just have rear pods on stock rear bar so maybe a nice A/M rear bar would be good. I found a nice one here: http://www.adrenalinautostyling.com.au But the website looks like dodgy and I need this stuff posted to Tasmania and I doubt they would be bothered let alone read their e-mails. I e-mailed AutoWorx like 3 times ages ago and they are all asleep and don't read their e-mails so I have given up hope on them. Any idea's people?

My girlfriend goes to Uni ever week in Launny so I could bring it up but the car isn't running at the moment, I need to get it dyno tunes, intercooler piping made, a few other things. The car hasn't really been running for over 6 months, I have been working on a new engine setup (RB30DET) heavilly modified and going for 300+RWKW with a track/street setup so fairly responcive. The project has been running for some time but I am very close to finishing. I am going on holiday to QLD in a week so I am looking at getting the car finished early to mid next month. But if you could give me a rough price that would be great, The car's paint at the moment is pretty good its just copped a few stone chips around the place and being that we have been working on it for 6 months people have dropped tools over the front guards etc. There are also a few minor dents, but they are very small. It's Black at the moment and I want the same colour but to but I was thinking to make it look less like a stock paint job maybe like a custom black or a nice perl black or something. The bonnet is carbon fiber so that doesn't need to be sprayed. Isn't SLY-032 from TasCommodores?

Hi all, I am looking at getting my R33 re-sprayed. I just want it resprayed black the same colour it already is. The paint isn't in pefect condition and I want it to look like new. Know of any good paint shops around hobart? I might attempt it myself after some practive, I have all the gear and have sprayed one of my old cars but I think my wants exceed my tallent.
  8. Mine is ohh so slowly getting there... picking up a nice new 55m polished tripple core radiator this arvo for it. So much needs to be done before its finished.
  9. Ummm wtf... Ok I don't run a BOV at all as I don't care about compressor surge and dose sounds better I think. My Dose is louder than most BOVs so I assume cops will be like you have a BOV as they have no idea what it is. Also WTF plumed back to the exhaust... don't you mean plumed back before turbo?
  10. I have an RB25DET R33 and RB25DET R32 TB and yeah you can have it. Its missing TPS though.
  11. my rail is perfectly fine... its just dirty....
  12. Ok...... Correct me if I am wrong but... R33 RB25DE head is the same as an RB25DET head but I think the cam timing is different. R32 RB25DE head is the easyest head to use in an RB30DET conversion. R32 RB20 head... don't bother in Tasmania, there isn't really any engeneers who are good enough to modify it to suit RB30E block. RB25's and RB30's run an 86mm bore but RB20s are smaller. R33 RB25 head has VVT were as R32 RB25 head doesn't. This is the main issue with the conversion, you need to tap in oil lines to feel oil to and from the VVT. There is heaps of info on this site on how to do this. From memory you have to T piece the return into your turbo oil drain and tap a hole in the block to run an external oil line to the VVT (have to tap an oil pipe into this as well) you then need to weld up the hole in the head which feeds the VVT. so basiclly RB25DET block has an oil gallery to feet the VVT but RB30E block doesn't have this so you have to run an external line. Final task is to fit another tentioner pully to the block. There is also heaps of info on how to do this. edit: ofcourse with my R32 RB25DE head bolted strait up it just required the pully to be drilled in, So mine was very easy to do. And who needs VVT any way edit again: ok, I just read your "Car(s): R32 GTS-t 4door". If you are running an R32 RB25DE+T your pretty much have the perfect engine for this, litterlly bolts strait up with no modifications, then all you need to do is buy a longer timing belt and drill a new pully in. I actually have done mine different to how every one has said how to do this because my timing belt kept comming off. Luckely my engine is non-inteference.
  13. Cheers, will probably get one soon.
  14. My RB30DET runs an R32 RB25DE head which is basiclly an RB20DET head but with the larger bore so you dont have to modify the hell out of it like RB20 heads to fit RB30E block. Due to this I had an RB20 intake manifold so this intake manifold it to suit an RB20 head which is extreamly hard to find. I think I will buy a new rail but I will have to get one to suit and RB20 which I guess is harder to find than RB25. The intake manifold + TB was $750 US (~$830AU) delivered from JAPAN. ku_engineering was the user name on EBAY, I messaged him and asked for a custom one to suit RB20 head and to suit a 100mm TB and also including a 100mm TB. For an RB25 you may be able to get them cheaper as they are more common.
  15. Hi guys, This just turned up from Japan (NOT TAIWAN). So far it doesn't look like I need to modify much, Fuel rail and my 940cc injectors went on nicely, idler and TPS went on fine. The 100mm TB eats the stock TB like something cronic. Any one had any experience with big RBs and 100mm throttle bodies... donno how it will effect drivability. Sorry for the crappy quality, I took the photos on my phone.
  16. Hi guys, I have been talking with the guys at MazFix and I am arranging them to come down from QLD for to perform some dyno tunes. MazFix's Site MazFix are the QLD branch of Microtech. Here is their Microtech Site Microtech-EFI This is the NSW Microtech Site MicrotechEFI I have been speeking with Brock and Archie the owner of MazFix about this. We basiclly need a decent confirmed list of people who want tunes before it will be worth while getting them here to perform dyno tunes. We are unsure of pricing at the moment but MazFix normally charge $350 for a full dyno tune, ofcourse we have to add the rental charge for the dyno and cost to get them here and accomodation etc. But even if it ends up being double their normal price it is WELL worth it. They one of the fastest RX7s in Australia: 2004 June Winternationals Willobank Raceway 6.99sec @ 201.52mph 1st Rotor in the world to break 200mph 1st Rotor in Australia to break into 6 sec They can pretty much tune any thing from Microtechs to PowerFCs to wolf3D... every thing pretty much. I was also told that they have to proper japanese dyno tune software for the PowerFCs not the same software that most tuners use. I am still confirming were we will be performing the dyno tune as I am still organising this. I am after big numbers and drivability with my Microtech LT12s controlled RB30DET and I don't think I will be able to get a tune that is even close to mazfix's effort from a local tuner. If you are seriously interested please post bellow so I can report back to MazFix.
  17. I am running an RB30/25DET in my R33, If you are the hands on type of person you could probably get a hold of some people with good experience to build it for you over a weekend with beer involved. That's what a lot of people do once they get to know the macanic nuts in the car clubs around the place. Might not be an option you would like to even consider but I know a lot of people with crazy engines in Tas and they have all been built in some guys garage over a weekend. Infact 2 mates of mine just rebuilt an RB30ET yesterday, full rebuild, head, block every thing. Main reason is the cost of getting this kind of work is crazy but if you have got the $'s then why not. As far as re-builders and tuners down here..... well I don't trust the tuners in Tasmania as I am running a Microtech LT12s so I am getting Brock from MAZFIX/Microtech in QLD to fly down to tune my car for me. If you have a PowerFC or something like that then yeah Tassie tuners are fine but I am running a Microtech and there arn't a lot of tuners here with experience in them, sure I can some one will be able to tune it fairly well but Brock will do a much better job.
  18. Does any one know of any metal works engeneers that would able to make me a custom intake plenum. I have an RB30DET running an R32 RB25DE head which is basicly the same as an RB20DET head but with bigger bore to match the RB25 pistons. So I have to use an RB20 intake plenum :'( I am looking at big $'s for a front facing plenum because they are a lot rarer than the RB25DET front facing plenums. I was thinking I could go a 6-2 style front facing setup so I end up with twin TB's (as I have twin RB25 TB's in my garage) or just buy like a 100mm TB and get it to suit that Basiclly they would just need to chop the runners off a few inches out from the head and then weld up a collection and then TB plate on the front. Any one had this sort of thing done?
  19. I have an RB30DET with an R32 RB25DE head but the R32 RB25DE head is pritty much an RB20DET head with larger bore. So I need a front facing intake manifold to suit an RB20DET!! I want it ASAP as I have removed my stock one already and there is no way I am putting it back on... SOOOOO much effort required. Only ones on ebay are like in Thailand and they want crazy $s for them compared to RB25DET ones.
  20. Flammers above... just because you fail at life and don't have a decent job doesn't mean other people can't. I am a Systems Support and Development Officer for the state government and I am 20 year old and I live in Tasmania were public servents get paid a fair bit less than the mainland. My brother is a Geologist for Newcrest, When he was 21 he had a science degree with first class honors, Newcrest offered him a job, flew him to WA, paid for his accomedation ect. and put him on $96,000 a year starting wages. Hes now 24 and on a lot more than that living on the gold coast. Any way enough of that. A friend of mine... WHO IS 19!!! just brought a 1999 WRX STI. Took me for a drive and I was not impressed. was under powered, not how I suspected. I mean when my R33 was standard it felt soo much more powerful. My mates stock NA R31 wagon feels quicker and my mate was giving it all its got trying to show off his STI. Man get a GTR... it would be stupid not too. Even an R32 GTR would put an STI to shame. Too many people get them and wank over them and say they are the best things on the planet. I would have to say tho the Jap spec ones they are called the 22B I think, 2.2L. They have like 257Kw I think (from wikipedia), MASSIVE loads more than the Aus versions, there is one getting around where I am and it just puts Aus spec WRX to shame somefin cronic.
  21. Yeah I haven't been able to find any one who sells them in that size, Only tyre I have been offered was Dunlop Sports 9000, $650 each plus fitting. Just reading your sig, I will be having a good crack to hit the 300 club in a few weeks, should be able to do it
  22. Looking around 80% odd tread or more. I go thro tyres like nothing else so no point spending $650 each for 265s which is what I was quoted today by 2 places I mean I would buy new tyres but I just can't justify $1300 for 2 back tyres :S
  23. Hi all, As writen in title, Also any thing around that size is worth a mention. Also does any one know where I can buy these new at a reasonable price failing that no one has any.
  24. I woulnd't blame the turbo.... I have a KKR560, .69 A/R rear and the internal wastegate is like 1 inch wide if that. I had problems with my old KKR480 as it had a slightly worse wastegate design. But even still every one said the KKR480s over boost, I just ran 18 degrease timing and didn't have a problem. Suppose I don't have to worry about that though as my RB30DET was built with low compression because I wanted a free running engine. Which was a VERY good idea in my case because I have had the engine for only 4 months and I have snapped the cam belt tentioner off once and the cam belt its self snapped about a month later. I love it when my valves are all the way down the piston can come up to top dead centre and it doesn't touch the valves ....
