  1. thanks mate, ive tried swapping the injectors around and i can hear it actuating, and have stuck a multimeter over it... and the heads as clean as a whistle. will use salubrious amounts of electrical contact cleaner though cheers common guys, someone must know?
  2. G'day guys- so i bought a '92 R32 gtst with a t3/4 hybrid, FMIC, and exhaust, and the sixth cylinder isnt firing at idle, and it sounds like its detonating at high revs. i picked it up cheap, so i figured the problems where warranted. i was hoping i could get some help diagnosing the problem? ive tried a few suggestions, and have swapped coils, plugs and injectors, even igniter pack and coil loom. compression test came up with 127 on no.6 better than the 125 on no.1! ive run the plug on the manifold and there is spark visible. I can hear the injector actuating. other cylinders are running fine. theres no black smoke from the exhaust. not sure if its related, but the tacho can sometimes fluctuate wildly, reading 6,000rpm when im only doing about 3, and then gets stuck for a while, before returning to normal. (possible earth fault?) any help from the resident skyline guru's would be much appreciated. cheers guys! Rowdy.
  3. G'day guys, i picked up my new skyline (r32GTST with bigger turbo[10psi], FMIC, exhaust and intake.) last week and now its time to sort out the problems. spent all morning trying to pinpoint why exactly the sixth cylinder is not firing. Tested for spark, and its fine. compression is fine. i swappd the coils and plugs over to make sure, but the problem stayed with No.6. I verified this by disconnectig the No.6 coil plug at idle and it made no difference to how the engine ran. . . so then i took the spark plug ot of No.6 and ran the engine. i couldnt smell any fuel coming from the cylinder... so this makes me think its a fuelling problem. am i right? or are there more tests i should do? if not, how do i test the fuel system? lol where do i go from here Thanks guys any help is appreciated! Rowdy.

  5. shit that doesnt sound like fun... yeah its got a catch can but the breathers fallen off lol. how come it was only pinging on number 6 though, if it was being blown through the cooler shouldnt it have affected all of the cylinders? Thanks mate, any help is good help at this stage! cheers, Rowdy.
  6. hey guys, im about to buy an r32 gtst from a mate at work. it has numerous modifications, FMIC, turbo, exhaust, blah blah, and about 190k on the clock. its in perfect nick except for a ping in the number 6 cylinder at highish revs. he's replaced the plugs, coils, igniter pack, checked the Crank Angle Sensor, installed an aftermarket fuel pump and a set of flow tested injectors. and still number 6 is detonating... does anyone have any ideas? my mates just gotten tired of the car and splashed out on a mini cooper s, so he's basicaly giving it away for 6k. it all sounds like a bargain except for the detonation issue. any help would be appreciated. cheers, Rowdy.
