  1. http://users.chariot.net.au/~stmezz/rust.htm this bloke has done a pretty good job, using the tig as well should probably link you to the finished product as well lol http://users.chariot.net.au/~stmezz/simons.htm
  2. hah ha this is briliant! its very interesting reading about the car scene in another country, especialy one you wouldnt think of as having said scene... so when is the SAU Georgia trip happening? count me in! +1 for updates ... and +1 for photos of georgian women. i mean sure i can look that sh*t up on google, but look what that got me.
  3. depends on where you live as to wether you'll have problems. in vic all you need is a dodgy roadworthy and your set. the vicroads guy/girl comes out and checks the vin on the roady against the car, and bam, your registered.
  4. i like the idea of indicator buttons on the steering wheel, very cool
  5. shit hot colour, love it! and such a bloody bargain price too. keep it up
  6. she's aliiivveeee!!! after a carby clean out, a new set of plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor, points, condensor, coil, ballast resistor and some new juice, she fired up and ran smooth as a medium grit sandpaper, probably about p400 i'd say. didnt cost more than about, hmm, 120 buckeroonies either, thanks to a well placed mate (he had to be good for something). i didnt dare run it for longer than 10 seconds, without the radiator and all, so now that has moved higer up on the agenda, and im getting stuck into the rubing back process as well. i'll go and buy a fricken sander tommorow, might make the process a bit easier. on a side note im picking up a 32gtr seat tommorow ...not for the celica stay tuned for more hardcore celica action...
  7. +1 for changing angle of dangle, and sometimes it just cant be helped as the pump nozzle is just rooted. they click and carry on no matter what you do. i find united petrol stations bad for this
  8. man i watched the original 'alien' movie the other day, that scene where she's in her undies, youd give her one sigourney weavers not bad either
  9. i believe the fact i said "i dunno" at the start of my post is a pretty good indication im not an expert who should be listened to- along with a request for further clarification on the topic by someone with experience- that would be you. what you have said makes sense, and thankyou for clearing that up for all of us.
  10. +1 on the driver course, im doing one and making all my friends come too. it should be a good day out
  11. i dunno, i was listening to an interview with a rally driver(cant remember who now), and he said to correct the steering, but to power out of the slide, and definaetly do not step on the brakes. i got into a 'situation' in my rodeo- slippery roundabout exit, no weight in the back of the ute, at the time i was relatively inexperienced, back end started sliding out- and corrected, kept a bit of power on and the car was just all over the place and i was sliding into the oncoming lane. so i tromped on the brakes and slid off to the side of the road. *shrugs* maybe someone with a bit of track and rally experience cares to share?
  12. ha hah feel the fitter love all through your thread boilermaker
  13. if your worried about your alighnment, get it checked. its not expensive. but i would be looking more at the tyres and pressures. and hey, the road surface was slippery. ive had my 32gtst step out at ~65k's, the reason being craaaap tyres in the wet... and flooring it. check out the tyres thread
  14. ok so ive finaly got a bit stuck in to it. ripped the front guards and bonnet off and got the horid air conditioning out. flippin things huge! this called for a refreshment, or two, from bundaberg. so then i got to the interior, which pretty much just needs new carpet and a bit of a retrim. so i kicked the dog out and got stuck in. out came the dash skin, nice and gently. anyone who is interested in purchasing this a1 condition dash skin let me know. also came with a most excelent aftermarket tape deck. it must be too far ahead of its time, because my cd's wont even fit in there. if anyone actualy has the hi tech recorded media that this device plays, let me know and you can have it. it is in a comparable condition to the dash skin. if you would like both the dash skin and hi tech media playing device, i will do you a good deal on postage. also in the dash i found this little gem. it is obviously a hi quality front centre dash speaker unit, which has been given a hard time by the previous owner playing ministry or bass hunters through the hi tech tape deck. it is rated to a hectic 4w of power output. i am surprised the windscreen has not been blown out. got bored, so i put socks on the dog so i had to give everything a good cleanout, and while doing so i found a few items from the previous owner. watch as i use my skills as a detective to deduce some of the happenings in the previous life of this fine motorvehicle. i found in the car: 1 white tail spider(was living in the hi tech audio reproduction device) 1 redback spider (was too big for the tape player, so instead lived wherever it wanted) 1 dollar and 37 cents. the latest coin i found was dated 2007, so i know the car was driving around less than three years ago! exactly 2 large hair pins and one small hair pin, plus one blue shiny hair tie. this leads me to believe that at some point in my cars life, a real live human female was inside of it. this is further reinforced by the crappy vanity mirror glued to one of the sun visors. the person who owned the car enjoyed refuelling at mobil service stations, as indicated by the two receipts i found decaying in the footwell. the station was in rowville. possibly this is where my car lived for a period of its life. while refuelling, the owner(barry, for arguments sake) bought a tasty selection of snacks, including but not limited to: a freddo frog, a berry bar treat, a boiled sweet, a snickers bar, and many many others. the wrappers where thoughtfully disposed of onto the floor of the vehicle, and the change from petrol/sweets was kindly deposited in a trust fund (under the carpet) for me to access at a later date(yesterday) barry then decided to take a drive down to his local myer shopping centre, where he parked (at 10.39) and paid a whopping 17 dollars to leave, a mear 3 hours and 20 minutes later. he deposited the parking reciept onto the floor, and promptly forgot about it. not quite shopped out yet, bazza decided carribean gardens market was for him, and was so excited he bought three tickets, so that he could come back again later. barry must have wanted some pirated dvd's, because thats all carribean gardens is good for. transformers and i am legend where popular pirated titles at the time. contented with his purchases, barry dropped his tickets onto the floor for safe keeping, but lost them amongst the sweets wrappers. barry must have been feeling queesy from all the sweets earlier, so he purchased a kiwi fruit, and neglecting to eat the sticker, instead placed it inside the steering column cover. and thats about all i can glean from the patchy evidence covering the floor pan like a sticky, crinkly, moist and messy carpet. oh. and there was also a bottle of sunscreen in the boot. and im trying to get my friend tim to eat the snickers, it was still in its packet. i could possibly tempt him with the small change provided to through the trust fund, but that would be wasteful and barry would not like to see me piss my savings up against the wall. so the seats need a bit of a retrim... *cough* but seat covers will probably do for now and for the moment i am reevaluating why i am building this car... to be economical and get me around! that means no sr20 for the moment, i want to spend time working on my skyline, not a yota. especially since i just got this cant wait to get this bad boy fitted up, when im done i'll send the ol girl(32gtst) off for a tune. finally. it deserves one. thats it for now! i'll have to order the new carpet, and buy a cd player and a few subs/amps then we'll be in business. i need a radiator and a front bumper too... all in good time and holy shit, do those chrome fender mirrors look good; case in point: and heres some celica porn to leave you with:
  15. you sure you didnt just stall it dont be embarassed now lol
  16. watched the video, lmao at 'double skinned lexan windows... for the safety of the operator". im tipping they'll cop a fair workout. im thinking about making a few signs saying 'filthy bastard speed camera ahead' and popping them on the side of the road when i see the filthy bastard things, to let other people know. i'll keep them in my ute, so they'll always be handy.
  17. +1 lol oh well if youve got it you may as well use it
  18. this looks like a fine idea! ive been thinking about wether to use the itb's or not, i think going this way will be far easier. could you guys post up some pics when your done? and any other tips? cheers, Rowdy.
  19. +1! only use good taps, theyre too easy to break lol. even if they dont break, they'll go blunt pretty soon. cheap taps/dies are good for tapping coon tasty/mainland colby and threading bega stringers
  20. thanks for the reply's gents bought myself a few spray guns today, a 1.4 and a 1.7, will probably see if i can pick up a 2.0 nozzle for the spray putty, and im going to modify my compressor a lil to get a bit of extra capacity minibeast is in the shed! and ready for rubbing back heres how much of a n00b i am with this car, i had no idea the rear quarter windows wind down, and ive owned it for over a month! to be fair, i dont sit in the back a friend comes over and just started winding them up and down, and i was like, you have got to be kidding me, that is awesome. so many awesome features in such a small car.
  21. im afraid ive been a little bit premature sticking this thread up... since i bought it, ive done nothing with it! apart from troll silvia forums waiting for the right motor... its sitting in the back yard waiting for me to finish bogging up the dings i put in my rodeo last month... that should be done by the end of the week anyway, so it will be in the shed and getting rubbed back ready for a new coat soon (Y) the glass might have to come out for new seals, as water has been getting in the car from somewhere, so im doubly keen to get it in the shed. i should probably do it to learn for myself anyway. ive done door glass before, which was simple enough, but havent done windscreens etc.
  22. actualy i have been following this up, it seems people are almost giving n/a sr20's away! pretty much decided its going to be an sr20, unless i wake up and someone has deposited a ca18 in the car over night hah ha if i cant be bothered making the altime mighty rb20 fit im not going to try a 2jz mothership motor... to expensive anyway omg, i am losing my shit over this car! mine wont be anywhere near as awesome, i fear... yeah his site looks pretty cool, car is a beauty, but i pretty much hate rotaries. strange people, rotary drivers.
  23. p.s. that vid of you, your favourite, that was sick! car sounds great
  24. hah ha isnt it always the way... something shinier to play with for a while +1 for looking great with the rims, and lol... that is all keep up the good work mate, 20 year old cars get ya down sometimes but theyre worth it (Y)
