yea the insurance company should take it it to a compound.... i dont think you get to keep it if its written off, you just get the cash.. but they sometimes offer for you to buy it back, then u can pull out eletronics etc and sell them off.... which means u could make more money then it cost you to buy it back... Bad luck having the car wrote off .. at least it wasnt your fault..

hm. what i usually do is when the tank is about half way, ill jump on fuel watch and see whether today or tomorrow will b cheaper, then i will fill up on watever the cheapest day is... im too lazy to do partial fill ups, just fill it to the top! I didnt buy a skyline to worry too much about fuel anyway.

+3 for ryco filters ive always used them in my sky and nvr had any complaints about them what so ever... =) I also use mobile 1 oil. Good stuff.

sorry to go off topic a bit here but, after alot of mods to handling etc ive decided to get more power... I was after a eletronic boost controller, like AVC-R... Do i need something like SAFC 2 to tune the car with when i install the boost controller? I dont plan to boost it much at the moment... becuase im still using stock intercooler which i have plans to upgrade soon. I was thinking 0.7 bar... i may put that up higher once i have installed FMIC + new exedy clutch.... But ya, the main question is.. do i need something like SAFC 2 to boost it to 0.7 bar? or can i get away with it?

I would of thought the same... but ive had a lot of excels up my ass and flying past me trying to get me to race. Annoying as hell! I also get those magnas with exhaust + rims doing the same thing. My point is, if they get restricted to these cars, they will race them, no doubt about it, it may not be as fun but that wont stop them.... Another view point to look at it would be... Which car would be better designed for high speed? A skyline going 150kmh or a excel going 150kmh? But i guess its kind of irrevlant, since your not meant to go that speed anyway...

weird how all states differ... here in WA theres no restriction on P platers at all in regards to turbos and V8s... yet we are in the same country! I drove a V8 for most of my Ps and i even did my L's in a V8 (not a commodore.. it was a 351 clevland)... and now i drive a turbo r33... No accidents and only 1 speeding fine in my 4 years of driving now... i personally think the size of the engine or whether its turbo charge or not doesnt make a difference... you can still go fast in a excel if you wanted to... anything over 100kmh and you crash most likely you going to die anyway. It all comes down to the driver and the choices he or she makes. Education is the answer here... not more speeding cameras, not restrictions on the power output on cars... However i always thought passenger restriction could help... more peer pressure if u got 4 of ur mates in ur car pushing you to go faster...if it was resticted to one passenger it wouild make a difference... this would also mean more cars on the road, but their are disadvantages to everything... But when it comes to it... any restrictions they put on P platers wont affect me since ive been off my ps for around 2 years now ^^.... but i still hope they start to put more thinking into solutions and not just a quick bandaid fix... ESPECIALLY dam speed cameras! I mean if they want to have them, fine.. but dont hide them.. they should do soemthing like put a sign advertsing in the next 5kms there well be a speed camera and then for that next 6/7kms poeple well slow down and do the limit.... Hiding them doesnt do anything... just 3 months later u get the fine and are like "wtf? when was that? " just my 2cents... or maybe by the size of my post better make it 4cents.

yea i played around with mine today i found that if i turned up the temp from 18 to say 26/27 i had hot air coming thru the vent, however when i turned it down to 18 the hot air stopped.. THis is with the air con off... just the fan on if you get me... I think when u turn it down to 18, it closes off the heater hoses... so u dont get any hot air coming in. Do you get me? I think if u leave it at 26 or so, and even if the air con/fan is off... the vent from the heater hose is still open... So try turning it down to 18 and turn off the aircon/fan and see if u still got hot air coming out....

i have been using 5w-50 mobile 1... around $68 for 5 litres....Seems to be good...but i think 50 is a bit thick for street use... always comes out dark brown/black after 5000km which is a good sign... as it means its been cleaning out the insides of your engine...which mobil 1 is well known to do =) Going to give mobil 1 0-40 a shot in the next few weeks, got about another 1000km before i hit 5000kms... tho its around 90$ for 5 litres i think... Theres alot of debate over oil... most people are loyal to the ones they use... as long as u get a fully synthetic one, and change it reguarly at 5000kms... shouldnt have any problems.. Dont get anything over 50w if its for street use only.. even 50 is pushing it a bit, hence why im going down to 40. The cold weight (the lower number) doesnt really matter so much... as long as its not over 10/15... You shouldnt be pushing the car when its cold anyway... Hope this helps!!

Did the person that did your timing belt know what he was doing?? If your timing belt was to snap, or something similar, there goes your engine... For some things its better to pay a bit more and know you getting someone that knows what they are doing.... When i did mine... two months or so ago, i got XSPEED to do mine, even though i know they will charge me a bit more then i could of got if i look for a cheapest place... but it gave me piece of mind that they know what they are doing, since all they do is pretty much work on skylines. Maybe bring it back to the guy and ask him to check it out?
