Brake Fluids Motul 5.1 And Rbf600
br3ndan replied to PT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i know its a little bit off topic, but i heard the dot 5 or 5.1 not quite sure, can eat away at the rubbers on your brakes system?? Whats the deal with this? is it true? -
unbelieveable, they break ur window, take ur stuff, then still want to wack the car with a baseball bat... that is really low. You would think they would content on taking your stuff and breaking a window. Hope the damage to your car is not to deep.. do they hit any of your panels?? or just the bumpers? Hopefully nothing like what happen to riccas skyline in freo. f**ckers.

haha.. yea as untouchable pointed out, i have done good amount of handling mods... with HKS hipermax D coilovers, strut bars.. 17 inch P1 Racing with 255 on the back and 235 on the front.. as well as a few other things... And yeah, budget is roughly 2k! Not that much i know, but im sure if i spend it wisely, i can get something at the end with decent power compared to stock. Thanks on the info that FMIC can be installed without negative side effects... So... i will go 1. exedy CHD clutch + machine my fly wheel 2. Dump Pipes (i already got hi flow cat... HKS Hi power) & FMIC 3. Boostie + SAFC 2 and tune. And i got to give fuel pump, injectors a thought soon... I dun plan to boost it up to much... maybe 0.7 instead of the 0.5 stock. ill try and do most of it my self, as i like working on my car + save money... but for the tuning i guess no choice but to get a pro to do it! Again, thanks for all your guys help! Can always rely on SAU to give advice ! =) Anyone know where to get a good set of dump pipes?.. and when i install am i able to keep my Cat back HKS hi power exhaust?
-
Ok, ill add the dump pipe to the list... can anyone direct me to a good place to get one...? Im in perth, but i dont mind to buy online, as long as the seller is trustworthy =).... Yea as for the clutch, i have no information on whether its new or not.. i only got this car in november last year... I think its best for me to change it before i start amping up the boost... I dont want to torture the car if its not up to it! lol... on that note, ive already done the 100k service.. (it just hit 100k last week! =x ). And ive changed all fluids in the car, including full coolant flush... Yes im a bit of a fanatic when it comes to maintaining my sky So ill do the clutch first and with regards to the flywheel, i think ill do what you guys suggest and machine my old one, as i dont think ill be using this sky for track. Dump Pipe and FMIC next? Ahh, no ones answered me on the FMIC yet.. am i able to install it first and tune with boostie and safc 2 at a later date?? And Yes, ill pay the extra few dollars and get a japan branded one, instead of a china made =). And thanks for the replies so far... i really appreciate you guys taking some time to help me out. Edit* 700HP - GTR 33, the problem is, i want to try and avoid down time, and since im a student i dont always have spare money to spend if something suddenly goes... which is why im thinking prevention instead of waiting for it to go... if i had lots of cash, i would probably do what you said and wait for it to go...

I think your missing the point, he works with Rb20s 25s and 26s for god knows how many years, so obviously he knows these engines inside out.
-
LOL @ PFC... thats way out of my student budget!!! I mite look into that extreme clutch tho... though im going to be sourcing my clutch of kudos motorsports on this forum... he has lots of good reviews, so ill have a chat with him. What about if i install the FMIC, and do the boost controller and SAFC 2 (Or something similar ) later, will this effect the ECU/Boost in a negative way?

The following is a quote/interview from Tatsuhiro Shibata (owner of R31 House in Japan). THe following questions were asked (in bold). (Side note, he was interviewed by "import" magazine, in the skyline special) Q. The Rb20DET has a bit of a reputation for being sluggish while in low revs. This is espically the case when you start adding big turbos and the like. Whats the best thing you can do to fix this problem? A. Change the engine. Q. Seriously? A. Yes, change it to an RB25/26. Its a much better base to start with. If you must use the RB20, we suggest a complete overhaul of the componets associated with the engine, if not the insides too. That means all electrics, sensors, ignition coils, air pressure regulator. Its 20 years old. It will need a freshen up. Then try adding some sensible modfications. **End** I think we can all agree, this guy knows what he is talking about.. his job and life are SKYLINES and SKYLINES only, as proven by the following Q&A. Q. So, what non-skyline do you fancy? A. Nothing. So there we have it.. RB25DET > RB20DET. As for the style and looks of the two, thats down to personal taste... and no-one should tell you what looks better and what doesnt, as its going to be your car not theirs. If anyone wants to do further reading, its Issue No. 90 of "Imports"... No more standing in the middle of the road! LOL

yeah, start of school holidays got alot of no good punk ass kids around... f**ckers Try the wreckers for the window... you should be able to get it quite cheap. Nothing you can do now a days to protect ur car... Alarms, unbreakable tint .. doesnt do a thing. Hope you get it fixed...

Hey Guys... so its my 21st in the next few days, and due to that, i will have an increase bank balance.. so what better thing to bring it back down again then to spend it on my sky! =P Anyway, there was a few things i want to get, though im not sure about the order i should do it in... As i cant do it all at once, as being a student, i need my sky to get to uni & other places... So if you guys could help me out, i would appreciate it alot! Here is the list of things i want to get... 1. Cushioned Button Heavy Duty exedy clutch 2. FMIC 3. SAFC 2 4. Boost Controller 5. Lighten Flywheel (im not too sure if this is nessacary? Can anyone advice me further...?) As you can notice, its manily all power mods.. as ive done a fair bit on handling... (coilovers, strut bars... etc.), ive also got all the basic mods exhaust, pod, bov.. etc. (Just a side note, my skyline is 100% street driven) Now, i planned to do the clutch first (and flywheel if you guys think i should), as its the easiest for me... as i have my own car hoist, it can be a DIY. However, im not sure about the FMIC, SAFC 2 and boost controller? Am i able to install the FMIC first, and do the SAFC 2 and Boost controller later? or will this cause trouble with the stock ECU and turbo?.. Id prefer to do it in steps if possible, but if i cant, then i will just have to wait till i have the time to have my car out of action for a few days... So what do you guys think..?
-
its quite common for track cars to drop in another 500ml or so... however if u want to play it safe, just drain some out.. not to hard to do
-
LOL!!! In that case, i vote for R33 GTS T over the R32 GTS T. But i really mean it when i say i like all skylines!
-
I had the same dilemma when i was looking for my skyline last year in November... In the end i chose r33 1995 GTS T over the R32's... Its a hard choice, and its really down to personal choice really... If you plan to extensivly mod the car, then all the talk about which as more power and what not, is not so relevant, as both are capable of making power if you have the cash. Depending on how old you are (for insurance) i would personally go the R32 GTR... there only a bit more then the avg R33 GTS T... i would of chosen this road, if i was not only 20 yrs old with a students budget! Anyway, R32 or R33.. its still a skyline! and all skylines are good in my books ^^
-
If its alot like Jenkies then yes you should... If its less then 500mls should be ok...
-
Whats the deal with those recommended yellow speed signs? Do we have to follow them..? Can we get done for speeding over that limit? Only time will tell i guess deemo, but i wish you the best of luck

"Speed holes" FTW! dam that simpson episode was so funny

andrew.. didnt you just get the car not to long ago ??

Thanks mattyP! appreciate the detailed reply! I will pass this onto the photographer as he wil probably make more sense out of it then i would!! Im going to head out for a few more test runs at different locations... i dont think this location will suit with a girl in the pic. Chasing the urban effect now, which i will head out in the next few nights. Hopefully with some new ideas thanks from MattyP,, however the car moving and a girl modelling on the car at the same time... probably wouldnt give the best results... hahaha! Once im 100% satisfied with the locations and effects, i will do the final one with the girl + car. I will continue to post up the new few test runs... feel free to do what matt did and give more ideas or/and make comments good or bad! both are important and appreciated! Cheers Guys! P.S: Maybe SAU WA should get a good photoshoot/cruise happening for the next event? That would be awesome! Brendan

Alright guys... heres an update... Just got back from a "test run" of the BHP Nickel place.. Below are the photos which turned out ok... Im thinking the one when i get my friend to model needs more ambient light (such as street lights), heading out tomorrow again to hunt down some places... was thinking east perth.. one of you guys mentioned this place i think... oh and also, HID proved a problem, as they are too bright.. both our car has them (6000k), here are the best shots out of around 40 pics. Anyway Enjoy!! *featuring Br3ndan's R33 White Skyline (SAU WA member) & Seul_Avec's Red R33 Skyline (SAU WA member). Thanks to Jake for the photography.

bahahahaha. How come the rain made it sound like a STI ? Yea, just cant b bothered to deal with the hassle, trying to keep the skyline non police eye catching... Agreed on making it look good, Steves car looks hot as with the carbon fibre bonnet, thats why i wanted one!
