hi all... took the gearbox out of my 33 as it was locking me out of 3rd and 4th and felt pretty shagged. upon inspection it is evident i will need 3rd 4th and 5th gear dogs. will need syncros for those gears. and then a few minor things. as you may know. buying 3rd is simple enough... buying 4th isnt, because 4th comes with input shaft and other parts as a gear set... and to get the syncro for 5th you need to buy the reverse gear which only comes as a gear set blah blah blah and yes it added up to well over $3k for the parts from nissan... probably closer to 4k with bearings seals and gst lol. so i went back to the workshop and soon located a z31 turbo 5 speed box for $1000...... how does this compare to rb25 box....???? i also located a z32 turbo 5 speed box for $1500... which i know is superior to rb25 box.... but does it bolt up to rb25/rb30...??? or do i need bellhousing adaptor???? and yes i know i could just buy another rb25 box but if i was destroying them with my rb25 at the track i dont think they will last long with the new 25/30 setup thats ready to go in when i find a box!!! im really keen to buy the z32 box as i know its stronger than r33 box and its only about same price as another 33 box. will it fit in the floor tunnel of 33 gtst??? thanks guys.

lol good thing about being in tassy. ive had my car registered for 2 years with an open 3.5 " side pipe from turbo. been pulled over by the cops plently of times. they dont know what a cat convertor is/does so they dont look for it. my exhaust exits after the last door so they dont care its a side pipe. they fail to realise its on the passenger side ( illegal as it points towards footpath) they have no tools or ways to measure dB levels. they usually tell me to go home and put a number plate on it or to just take it home its too loud. the orange wheels and stickers are a pretty good give away it should be at the track. but on the other hand i dont drive it in the cbd because i know the noise would just be unnessarcery. i dont hoon about in it. and im polite and helpful to police and explain im on the way to a worshop or to load car onto trailer... we have it pretty good down here as long as your not a tool sorry about the rant lol... and if Mr tassy policemans aare reading this... sell the unused cat you have, find a 3 inch inlet/outlet used or f**ked cat.... bash the guts of it out and run it like that. if the cops where you live are not likely to even look for a cat then put a decat pipe in perhaps

you could just change diff ratio for some longer legs perhaps with a lot less cost??

well s15 6 speed is a pile of shit when lined up next to rb25 5 speed.... so dont bother looking at this as an option. s13 never had 6 speed.... so yer i dunno what you meant by that. With a lot of f**king around you can get a gtr box to work but im slightly confused as to why???? if you can give reasoning for ur want of changing to 6 speed then it may help. unless u regularly drive down the highway at 160 kmph then what is it needed for? and if your doing track work unless your thing is a missile you wont need 6th gear i would not imagine (depending on track) if i was going to contemplate spending this much money doing a 6 speed conversion i would just bite the bullet, borrow some money and put a 6 speed sequential hollinger in my bus hahah

ummmm shittt lol. i have the box out of my 33 at the moment because its about to cop a rebuild and i dont think the shifter housing is sloped like you are all mentioning that the rb25 box was..... i better inspect it further

oh yer i hadnt thought of that. how ever once you pull the guts out of the headlight i reckon it would look pretty shit compared to the propper ones.

im not overly fussed about altering how it mounts. as long as its the same shape as s2 gtst headlight so it fills and fill the gap properlywhen i remove headlight

you sure yournot thinking of sway bar. do a google image search on 'r33 tension rod' and on 'r33 castor arm' they the same thing bro

cant find one in australia. ive found a uk website and a couple of jap sites that have them for 33gtr but they dont show any listings for gtst specific items.

castor arms and tensionrods are the same thing though? can you up load a pic of both sets so i can choose lol

r33 gtst series 2. tps part number is......a22-661 the same tps is used on some nissan patrols and other models. series 2 r33 tps is different to series 1 r33 tps. s2 has two plugs on it. s1 has one plug.

yer hi octane can supply tomei items to suit 33gtr but they said as far as they know, tomei dont do a gtst item. is there really that much difference between gtr and gtst head lights? i know series 1 and series 2 gtst headlights are slightly different.
