  2. Thanks for the responses guys. it would seem that the problem was that the last person to calibrate the air temp sensor had it that far out it wasnt funny. lucky car hasnt really be opperated on that tune.
  3. My r33 is currently at a tuner on the dyno but the air temp sensor is reading 50 degrees all the time. im running a haltech platinum sport 2000 with supplied air temp sensor. its a 25 in a 33 gtst. need help as its preventing car from being tuned??????
  4. Its not that i want to skimp or save money. i just dont know if 3 inch is big enough. no point making ita droney 4 inch if its not required. ok so i will try find a concentric reducer this arvo.
  5. thanks ash. where do i find a stainless piece that flares from 3 inch to 3.5 or do i need to fab it myself??? gate will def be atmo.... just so i can crack gate and have screammer pipe and get da bitches jokes. thanks guys
  6. noise is not a factor. track only. running a 50 mm gate that will dump to atmo at bottom of firewall. i was thinking i would need to step up to 3.5. can i get a stainless reducer type of thing that goes from 3.5 to 3 inch perhaps? im building the car myself so very much appreciate people contributing their knowledge. its very near completion but i like to research my options before i purchase/fabricate/assemble things. thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. will check that dyno thread too! i do not watch the forums avidly so i do not posess the wealth of knowledge that many of u ppl manage to spunge up out of this forum lol
  7. hi all. in the process of finishing a project. its an rb 25/30 with a gt3582 hanging off it with big cams and fuel system and going to be looking for above 400 rwkw at 20- something psi.. so i have fabricated up at 3 inch mandrel dump to match the 3 inch outlet on the back of the gt35 and plan to run open pipe the whole way through. it will all be mandrel bent. Is continuing in 3 inch going to be large enough or do i need to raise to 3.5 or 4 after the dump or once i get past the firewall???? if u need to know specs on anything else to help inform me of correct exhaust sizing then feel free to ask. car has been built from absolute scratch to use as a track car so nothing is really standard and i dont know if any other factors will come into play. thanks james

  9. if some one could tell me what these rims are that would be great or something very similar. also should not that i need it in 5 stud and im probably pushing it here but in 16 or even 17 inch would be great. and wider than 8. other wise i will need to widen some steelies but not sure u can find 17inch steelies
  10. as said above by gtr001 which would have to be tenille?? go and see simon brown as zipp powdercoating in masey street glenorchy. he will bake on a chrome finish powdercoat. they coat everything thats pretty on my track car.....

    as title states. fuel cut defender for sale. 4 wire version. came out of 33 gtst. perfect working order. $30 i travel between hobart and launceston 2 - 3 times a week so it can be collected at either end of the state. thanks james
  12. not entirely an expert on the 26 head but assuming its ports are similar to that of the 25 heads then there are great figures to be had from standard head design. i actually read something not to long ago that shed light on just how well the 25/26 heads flowed! and as mentioned before, velocity has a huge role in engine behavior. sure on a 1000hp dyno queen or drag engine it may not come into the equation, BUT i have friends in who have put longer runners and similar things on race bike ect. to create more velocity and it completely alters torque curve and delivery characteristics..... maybe useless info but someting to consider guys.

  15. i have both boxes and they are not even close to the same lol. a quick measure up gave me the figure of 80mm difference...... they are not the same gearset.... they have the same sandwhich plate and the input shafts are the same length so i can use my my 25 bellhousing on it and ill just get a single peice tail shaft made up to make up the 80 mm extra length i need for it to be long enough
  16. so after every one telling me that the 25gtst box had identicle gearset to the z32 tt i have since bought a z32tt box for the gearset in the hope to use my 25 bellhousing and extension housing..... BUT.... the z32 is shorter.... the main shaft seems to be 80mm shorter than the 25gtst. SO bellhousing change will be fine... but if i put the 25 extension housing on the back it will be too long for the main shaft if that make sense?????? wtf. and if i leave z32 extension on the back which appears to be shorter then my tailshaft will be too short???

  19. machine, forge and balance your rb properly and u can bounce the thing off 9 grand if you like..... slap an old worn 3 litre bottom end on a turbod 25 head and rev it past 7 for any length of time and watch what the harmonics of the thing do to it.... rattle rattle ratlle RATTLE RATTLE RATLE knock knock knock KNOCK KNOCK..... oh thats strange.... i have f**ked bearings and journals.... my rods dont seem straight and it appears someone took to the top of my piston crowns with oxy acetaline...... after saying this i bet there is some one on here who steps up and tells me they have a 250 000 km rb30 bottom on a 25 head with about 2 bar being shoved down its throat that is still running lol. there are just so many factors that come into it... ive seen bog stock rb25det put a rod through the block with only about 100 000 km on it... some times shit just fails.... and some times i dont know how it lasts lol
  20. most 30s dont have oil squiters under the pistons so highish boost on standard pistons sees them melting sometimes 30s obviously having a longer rod too doesnt help there cause at high rpm... my 30 wont be seeing 9 grand like plenty or 20s and 25s ive driven lol
  21. havnt read whole thread so not sure whats been said but i would imagine there is a heap of shit at the back of the skyline steering wheel that the silvia wont have.... isnt there a stupid disc mechanism for steering position sensor or to let hicas know how far it has to move??? posably wont have any of this in the silvia wheel???
  22. after a day of litrally looking at seperated boxes and speaking to a few people and a helpful pm from another member i can conclude that... 5speed gtr, 33gtst, z32 are all the same internally. identicle. they all just use different bellhousing and extension housing and of course gtr is setup for 4wd application. (z32 has slightly different shifter setup i think but no real drama) z31 box i knew was single syncro so assumed it was different and with confirmation from a forum member and an outside source i can confirm it is like the vlt box. thread can be closed unless anyone has anything to add. cheers. james

  24. im now looking on some other forums and reading that z32tt box is nearly identicle to 33gtst box and there is no strength difference??? and that both are pretty much just a rwd version of the 32 gtr box. do i buy z32 tt box?? 33gtst box?? or try to convince bank i need another 10 grand for my car to buy a ppg gearset which i doubt they will lend lol
