Just wondering if you guys 044 fuel pump is mounted internally or externally? I used to mount mine externally, and put rubber/foam between the fuel pump and the car body and it was still DAMN loud from inside the car! Gets kinda annoying after a while. A constant buzzing. Can you place this fuel pump inside the fuel tank? If so, can you still hear it? Are the standard skyline turbos good for 230rwkw?

Just wondering how is the GReddy e-manage? How much was it and it's tuning abilities? Is it on par with the Apexi Power FC? Is it tuned via a laptop or hand controller?

Should be able to reach 11s quite easily, as I read a post somewhere here where a guy with stock turbos, more boost, exhaust, air filter, cams...etc - no major internal work, achieved around 250kW@wheels and ran high 11s. To go more than that you would need upgraded internals, larger cams, larger turbo or turbos, fuel, ECU...etc. It gets to a stage where to go a little bit faster, you have to spend a LOT more money!! Once you start getting into an aftermarket turbo, ECU...etc it gets expensive. Also depends what branded parts you want to use. If you go for big names like HKS or TRUST, a new turbo kit for the GTR will cost well over $10k. Or you can buy other cheaper brands, or second hand items. If you ever want to change the gearbox, I have heard that it's d@mn expensive, like $15k for a TRUST 6 speed or Holinger shift...whatever it is The GTR gearbox will need to be replaced if you want to run 10s. For 11s, the standard one should be ok.

Nope, my car doesn't have personalized number plates. I don't know if you've seen it around, but there's a gap in the rear bumper where the original exhaust used to be. I switched the exhaust to the right hand side, influence by HKS and JUNs EVOs

All that I know is that HKS turbos have HKS specific compressor trims. I think the actual core and turbine trim are the same as Garrett. Both turbos are very similar.
-
A Garrett GT25 at 1.0bar boost will produce less torque/power as an HKS GT2530 at 1.5bar boost. There is a difference between power and efficiency. What I meant was that both turbos at 1.0bar, the Garrett would probably produce more as it is more efficient in that range of boost. At 1.5bar, the HKS would produce more power than the Garrett at 1.5bar as the HKS is more efficient at that boost range. It depends how much boost you want to run. Both turbos are efficient at different levels of boost.
-
If you're going to stick with your standard internals, it would be better to go for a Garrett GT25 series turbo over the HKS GT2530. Reasons being: The Garrett is cheaper, and Garrett turbos are more efficient at around 1.0bar whereas the HKS turbos are more efficient at around 1.5bar. If you've got standard internals, you won't be running much more than 1.0bar. HKS turbos are only particulary good when running high boost with forged internals.

I agree that for street a responsive turbo is better suited, and laggy peaky turbos aren't as great in a street drag. But I was just thinking that a GT2530 is a little too small, why not the GT2835? It will be laggier, but have more top end. But then I don't know HOW much laggier it is?? Is there a GT2830?
-
I used to have over 200kw@wheels on an AWD 2L and I never broke traction changing through the gears, but it's AWD I guess. I can't say I've driven an equivelant powered car in RWD. Interesting post (above). That does seem a fair comment for a street car and street drags. But if you are thinking of going to the drags, then I don't think it'll cut it. A GT2530 is way too small and I am guessing on an RB25 the car will probably run high 12s? At best. All depends on the application: street, street & occasional drag, street & occasional drift, full drag, full drift...etc.
-
The 2530 is a very responsive turbo, but after a while a small turbo car just feels like an ordinary car with more power. Whereas a larger laggier turbo car has less power off boost, then the power really surges and you can feel it all the way to max boost. It's a totally different experience. But a smaller turbo car will feel faster on the street, because there is less lag. I guess what I'm saying is it depends whether you like linear power or a peaky power curve.
-
Responsive, yes...not much gain though. For small upgrade, the 2530 may be good, for moderate I'd go the 2835 or larger. So for a 2L engine, what would be the equivalent turbo? The 2510? That's the smallest turbo HKS make isn't it? Or smaller?
-
I am only guessing that a GT2530 would be too small for a RB25. If you say that this turbo can make upto 230kW@wheels on a RB25, then that is only a minor upgrade from the stock turbo as can't the stock turbo produce near 200kw@wheels already? Maybe even more? Once again, only a guess as I'm not a skyline owner. From personal experience, I used to run a GT3037S (56T) rated at 480PS on my EVO4 (2L). It was laggy, with boost coming on at around 3500rpm. But on a 2.5L, I would expect lag to be produced at 3000rpm, or maybe even earlier? I know that a 3037S on a 2L can produce up to 300kw@wheels, or so I've read in many places.

I am pretty sure that twin GT2530s are much bigger than a single GT2835. 2 x GT2530s are more likely equivalent to a single GT3240. But yes, a single GT2530 is TINY for the RB25. A good choice for the GT2835, although I would be tempted to go the GT3037S
-
Nice choice on the GT2835 ProS. Do you know what's the difference between that and the GT2835? I know the "R" has a 100mm inlet. Do they all use GT28 outlet flanges?
-
Actually, I'm pretty sure the GT2835R is rated at 420PS. Nonetheless, a great turbo for a 2L. The GT3037S (52T) is rated at 450PS and the GT3037S (56T) at 480PS.
-
Just what do you mean by "laggy"? A GT2835 would not be laggy on an RB25 I'm sure of it. I am pretty sure it would be able to make boost before 3000rpm. That's not considered laggy, is it? I used to run a 3037S (much larger that 2835) on my 2L and that produced boost around 3500rpm. So for a 2.5L with a 2835 probably around 3000rpm. Of course it also depends what A/R turbo you're using.
-
A single GT2535? I think that it a little too small for an RB25. I would be going a GT28 series at least.
-
Just thought I'd post some pics of the car to any interested buyers... Front...

I have heard that the best matched twin turbos for a GTR are the HKS GT2530s (x2). Yes, I am sure the HKS GT2835 turbo does come in internal wastegate form. Even the GT2835R (100mm inlet) comes in internal wastegate form - 0.86A/R and GT28 flange.

Hello, Hopefully after I've sold my car, I will be looking at either a 180 or a GTR (probably a 1989 R32). I would like an 11sec GTR, but is still being street driveable as a daily driven car. Is this possible without suffering from too much lag? If so, what sized turbo would I need to go for? How much power would I need to dip into the 11s? I have access to a GT3037S turbo, but from what I've heard it's probably too small to achieve 11s (as a single turbo setup). What turbo would be better? A TRUST T78? HKS T51? I know that both these turbos are very large, and for people who've had experience...how laggy are they on the RB26? I would like the car to start making boost around 3500rpm...is this possible for 11s? Or am I dreaming here?

Having said that the RB20 is a strong engine, the SR20 is also just as strong if not stronger. Has anyone read of that white JUN s15 tuned here in Australia that has put out a stupid 600 or more horsepower at the wheels!?? Of course it runs a 2.2L stroker kit with TRUST T88...but still, that thing will go

HKS GT3037S and Wastegate
EVOIV replied to EVOIV's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Pic attached: The pic is of the damaged turbo (turbine wheel needs replacing). -
I will have pics of the car in a few days time. How do I post pics on this forum? Else, I'll just email everyone that's interested...

Hello, I am looking for an HKS GT28 based series turbo. If anyone has one that they are trying to sell, please PM or email me on: [email protected] I also have a GT3037S turbo that I might be selling in the future, depending whether or not it can be repaired. If you have a GT28 series turbo for sale, would you consider swap + price adjustment? I would really like a GT28 turbo that does NOT have an internal wastegate. I already have an external wastegate that I would like to use. Even if you have a GT28 with internal wastegate, I would also consider buying that too. Cheers!!
