  1. I recently dropped my totally stock R32 GTR off for a 'checkup' and was advised of the following issues with my suspension: 1. RHR Cradle Bush Poor 2. Castor Rod Bushes Poor (Car pulls to the left while driving - even after a 4 wheel alignment) 3. Outer CV Boots torn In addition, I'd like to reduce some of the bodyroll in corners, and remove the HICAS system. I would like to do the cradle bushes, castor rod bushes, and front and rear swaybars myself, but was unsure of the best method and parts required. Once these are completed, I'll get the CV joint boots, HICAS removal, and 4 wheel alignment done professionally. I would like to use items from Sydneykid's group buy kit, but would like to keep the car stock-looking (heightwise) for now. In the future, I may go the whole hog and fit the entire Sydneykid kit at a later point. It is a street-driven car, but may see the occassional track day in the future. Any advice you guys could give (especially Sydneykid) on the best way to go about this repair and improvement would be greatly appreciated!
  2. f**k! Reading this shit pisses me off! If they had've been doing 15 km/h over the speed limit, they would have been all over them. You should report it to the media and see if that does anything...
  3. Ouch! Five grand is a bit painful... However, it's definitely $2500 for us. I checked just a couple of weeks ago (and that's for the straight gas, hi-performance kits). Your standard 'duel-fuel' setups cost even less...
  4. Here's the link to the LPG grant: http://www.ausindustry.gov.au/content/leve...07A2EFBDB3D4AF7
  5. By the way, does everybody know there is currently a $2000 grant for anybody who fits an LPG system? You have to pay the cost of the conversion up front (regardless of whether you go straight gas, or duel fuel) but you then receive the $2000 refund. You may end up being out of pocket only $500. Add that to saving of $1/litre and it starts to look pretty damn attractive, eh? Here's some more interesting bedtime reading for everybody: http://www.gas-injection.com http://gasinjectiongroup.com.au/?gclid=CMj...CFRZZiAodxhAmhw http://www.autogasconverters.com.au/index.php
  6. Not true. A lot of performance LPG specialists do the same and have multilple 'scuba-type' lpg cylinders (all connected and making one single tank) located in place of the original fuel tank (just like snags on a BBQ plate).
  7. Well, Top Gear Australian has just been announced, including it's presenters. I reckon that comparisons like this will definitely happen. It will be cool to see.
  8. The car had barely arrived in country and was sorted on time and you're asking why they didn't win on it's first ever Targa Tasmania outing? You must have had high hopes for the car if you think any first time entrant gonna's clean up on their first attempt. This is where the terms 'race prep' and 'sorting' come from. I think you may also have overlooked the point that you're saying a technological all-wheel-drive terror is worse than other cars because it got beaten by...some other technological all-wheel drive terrors. Maybe they just need some more sorting on 'Nurburger'...LOL!!! You should enter your VL next year. You're bound to win - and even on your first attempt!
  9. I get your point, and it's true. HSV are on our (the performance guys) side, and saying they're a shit car is bullshit. I get the HSV's, and hope their in business for a long, long time I mean, what else will GTR's have to eat, eh??? Fibre is good for you... ;-) Just kidding!!!
  10. But the flames are so pretty, oh so pretty! <cackles insanely>
  11. More to the point, how many people have driven your fully sick, VL Turbo that eats R35's for breakfast? That sounds like the ultimate bang-for-your-buck! (Cornering ability and batteries not included)
  12. Eh...the almighty Nissan referred to in this forum is not a Pulsar...
  13. And you're a member of the Skyline Forums because GTR's aren't your type of car? Confusing! I really don't think you're going to convince many people here that a $170,000 HSV is good value for money (especially slagging off the GTR name), regardless of how long you post for...
  14. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! I am absolutely cacking myself here - "You also drive the Skyline's retarded half cousin the VL Turbo". I used to drive one of those (when I was chasing pure power) and that's when I learned that power isn't everything. Great powerplant, Commodore handling. Not a good combination... I one hundred percent agree with the 'retarded half-cousin comment', and that's now why I'm driving a GTR!
  15. That Walkinshaw is an extreme example. Just because one person has one advertised for $115,000 doesn't mean it will sell for that price. Most Walkinshaws advertised recently have been around $35,000. The Brock Director is a different kettle of fish altogether. There are only 12 of those cars in existence, and not only are they associated with the superb Peter Brock, but they were part of the equation that lead to him splitting from Holden. That's a piece of history selling there, not your standard HSV.
  16. Although the VL Walkinshaw didn't have to complete with the grey imports market bringing in Walkinshaws from Japan, did they? And an Australian original R32 GTR is still around the $40,000+ mark. That's $10,000 more than a Walky. Neither are realistically priced if you are looking for bang for your buck, but there will always be a select group of people willing to pay unrealistic prices for whatever they love. However, I agree with your principle: Modified cars - I don't care what make or model, they're all great! (even the bad ones!) And they're much better than driving Camrys... ;-) It brings me much enjoyment to see HSV inject the 'performance car spirit' into the Holden Commodore, and I wish them all the best for the future. However, keep in mind that it will also give me much enjoyment smoking this $170,000 monster at the lights in my $20,000 R32 GTR. And that's BEFORE we get to the first corner... ;-)
  17. With that model Prelude, the tail-lights were actually quite good-looking - the front looked crap. Ironic that this guy replaced the good end...
  18. Those Varex mufflers must be good - the Australian government's banned them (and any similar devices): http://www.gtrydaz.com/home/Under-the-Bonn...ow-ILLEGAL.html They'll be enforcing it from 1st Sep.
  19. Honda CRX - 2nd Generation. Extremely zippy, use bugger all fuel, cheap insurance, and fantastic handlers! I won't even mention how easy they are to park and get around in. They even have HUGE carrying capacity. Forget the age of the vehicle - it's the CONDITION that important. Most R32's are a couple of decades old now, yet that doesn't automatically mean they're all hunks of junk. Quite the opposite can be true if the car has been looked after. I bought a second generation CRX as an 'in-betweener' to getting my current R32 GTR and I still LOVE jumping back into it regularly and taking it for a spin!!!
  20. I typed a pretty bloody long email for somebody who would be doing this just for fun. Only an angry person - say, somebody who drove 1800 kilometers and spent $250 on fuel for nothing - would do something like this. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is, and GUARANTEE everybody here that the tyres are better than I said, and that the other problems don't exist as well. I know if some bastard accused me of lying and being dishonest I'd do more than not defend myself. Why don't you put up photos of all four wheels (make sure we can still see that they are the Leon Hardiritt rims as advertised, and ON the car) so that we can see the tread ourselves. At least you'll have to spend money if you wish to try and bullshit us on this. A mechanical report stating the 100% working air con, date of last regas, and type of gas would also be cool (pardon the pun). Any potential buyers should get this checked immediately, as it could be costly to have to get it repaired. By the way, I forgot to mention that when he showed me the car I asked about the Boost Controller in it. He mentioned that he didn't know how to operate it and left it 'as is'. That made me think two things: 1. He's a bit dim and doesn't know how to operate a boost controller. 2. It's been running on maximum boost for as long as he's had it - this engine may have had a hard life. Just a minor point, but I though I'd mention it. He says don't rely on the word of what one person says. I'm telling you the same - don't rely on what HE says. If you are interested in purchasing this car (and I encourage as many people as possible to test drive it) make sure you get it thoroughly checked out by your OWN mechanic, double-check his dyno claims (it's so easy to print fake or optimistic claims - be sure to know the difference between Rear Wheel Kilowatts (rwK) and All-Wheel Kilowatts (AwK)) and haggle him down like crazy - he's was almost ready to take $21,500 a few weeks ago). Some people may think I'm a little vindictive about this. I can only say this: You bet I am. This little bugger cost me a lot of time and money, and until such time comes as he volunteers to pay the fuel bills for my wasted trip, I'm gonna holler the truth from the hills and cost him $250 of nuisance. To those of you looking to purchase a GT-R in the future - the best of luck! Learn from my lesson, and I hope you get the car of our dreams!
  21. Guys - be wary dealing with this guy. I'm located in Sydney and was interested in the car. I rang him beforehand, discussed details and price, and everything seemed fine. I told him I was interested, and paid him a deposit to hold the car until I was able to drive down and visually inspect it. A thousand kilometers of driving later, I arrive in Melbourne on a Friday afternoon to be told by him that the car wasn't available and was at the mechanics. A little concerning to say the least. I then find that additional mechanical work has been done, and that the price has increased $550 for a new coil. We agree to split the difference but am advised I'm unable to view the car until around 7pm - just when it gets dark. Wonderful. Still interested, I turn up to find the car in what I would call 'average' condition. All four tyres are roadworthy, but only just, and would need replacing almost immediately. Chalk up another $1000 to be spent shortly. Other items requiring attention that aren't mentioned - air conditioning not working. He advised it needed a regas but didn't say why it had lost gas in the first place (worst case scenario repair/regas/new gas conversion - possible additional $1000). Also, on a minor note, the drivers seat appeared to be twisted/broken, and a few small electrical components didn't appear to be working (interior light/stereo badly distorted). I advised him that I was still interested, but needed to estimate the possible additional costs and get the car inspected by an independent mechanic the next day. He says that's cool and I advise I'll contact him tomorrow. I sms him later that night to advise of inspection details and he replies and says that's cool. Saturday morning I get a second sms advising that he didn't realise it was Saturday, had to work that day, and that the car wasn't available. I couldn't believe it! I drive all the way from Sydney after a week of organising things, and the freaking cars' not available to be inspected??? I try to contact him via phone a number of times, but it goes straight to voicemail. I leave a message, and send an sms asking him to contact me as I'm running out of time and need to begin the return to Sydney the next morning. No response. Also no response when I try to contact him again that afternoon. At this stage, I'm pretty freaking angry. I've driven all the way down to Melbourne for nine hours with my girlfriend, spent $250 on fuel, had to arrange for accommodation while I'm down there - and that's not even taking into account the return trip, or the cost of security checks on the vehicle VIN (another $35). Eventually I get real angry, and ring his home number. I only manage to speak to his sister, who advises me he's not available and in the shower. I tell her to let him know that if I don't hear from him shortly I'll start ringing every half an hour. She says she'll let him know - all the time talking to a voice in the background. Ten minutes later I get an sms advising that he's received a higher offer from another buyer, and won't be selling the car to me. I take the long drive back to Sydney - extremely disappointed, and having been taken for a very different ride from the one I expected. Guys like this piss me off. He's been trying to sell the car for months, and when he finally gets a serious buyer he f**ks them around. Not a cool thing to do when they're travelling from interstate. Not only that, to add insult to injury, I notice that the car remains for sale - with an increased pricetag that I would have gladly paid - if only he'd told me what he wanted at the time - instead of being gutless and lying to me. You don't know how tempted I was to send around a few friends to test drive his 're-advertised' car - right into a ditch. Instead, I'm gonna do the right thing, and concentrate on finding my dream car, but I severely hope the little f**ker gets what coming to him. He's not a true Skyline enthusiast, because we should be sharing our common interest, not f**king each other over...
