powerfc ecu may operate differently to nissan ones (almost certainly would) so they may not aim for the same thing as the nissan ecu does
-
could u post my logs? my experience is that with a properly operating o2 sensor, eventually at idle, and cruise it will get into the swinging pattern of going to like 0.1v->0.9v and back continuously (as it should, given theyre pretty much only a "more than 14.7:1" and "less than 14.7:1" switch (hence the lean/rich switch available by consult - im guessing the ecu only checks whether its more/less than 0.5v and thats it. calumsult graphing is very good at showing the o2 sensor operating after a good rev, often the o2 sensor will stay rich (i think thats > 0.5v?) for a while until things stabilise, normally say 10s then it goes back to swinging (assuming your in closed loop mode - cruise/idle).

the cable supplied goes into one side of the box. the other side, as long as your laptop doesnt have some weird obstructions near the serial port, will plug directly into the serial port (ie, u have the box pluggest directly into serial port). if this isnt possible, then a normal db9 serial extension will be fine (it will need to be female-male/male-female, not male-male or female-female) there will be a slight movement of either or both connectors on the end up and down/side to side, as there box isnt manufactured exactly to hold the connectors without movement, so this isnt a problem (it could be glued to keep it stable, but then u couldnt open it if u ever had to) until all sold - currently up to position 7 or 8 are in process of being made, not sure about anymore after that

the interfaces should work on any car with the 14 pin grey consult connector. unfortunately this doesnt include A31, S13/w CA18, and some of the other nissan models that started around 88 (cima/gloria/etc). it works on the R34 also (someone said it didnt?). only works on r32's built oct or nov onwards i think? definitely the early ones it didnt work on (again, if it has the 14 pin plug it should work). some consult interfaces wont work on all models (eg soem have problems with r34), but the kit i made shouldnt have any problems (and recent plms ones should work too) ive recently started working back on my consult app (pocket pc version in the works too), and have got serial number, fault codes, sensors done, still with active tests and rom dumping to go. unfortunately it doesnt look that "pretty" so far any suggestions on what parts of different programs everyone finds useful, how gauges should look, and so on would be good - i basically have no real artistic ability at all so making things look pretty isnt one of my strong points

pm's dont have proper username in title, its double quotes for me ("" instead of username) -
i know this might sound obvious, but are you sure the immobiliser is actually off when u try to start the engine?
-
normally its wired up to IGN on, so u need it on reds for it to work. depends how ur car is wired for turbo timer as to whether it will continue to work or not when timer on i havent tried srtalk recently, seems its changed a bit since i used it last if it works with rb25's now
-
no, its a cable + box as pic in diy thread showed (ive attached it here now) having it box + cable means to "turn it off" all u need to do is disconnect the cable from the box - u dont have to unplug it from the consult port near fusebox like one piece ones. so you can permanently mount the cable, and just connect the box up when you're using it. btw, i sent yours out just now, express post number MN6508940
-
just a reminder to everyone that u must not connect the cable directly to pc (otherwise the box that comes with it would be useless wouldnt it ) as this can break stuff i assume
-
not as easy to find a casing for a usb one (even the box for this one wasnt easy to find), so i wouldnt hold out for one usb/serial converters are only ~15$ on ebay, and a usb version of this would cost at least extra that id guess (prob 20-25$ more) check out caz group buy for usb interfaces - if you have a usb only laptop, theres no point getting one from me while that group buy is running
-
they all should report either no faults, or code 55 (which means no faults for most cars). althought i cant remember specifically what conzult or srtalk does for them.
-
dont use srtalk if u dont have an sr... i could never get anything useful out of it on the rb25

thanks i was looking at this skyline: http://www.autotrader.com.au/photodisplay....mber=W844620638 however: its not a 1998 (compliance was 98 in aus, but its a 94/95 model), it was a non-turbo (so 4 stud), the console plastic was replaced with some dodgy one, had a few scratches and dents. and the km's shown was 48000 from memory, which conflicts with the 67000 kms i found below it did have the neo turbo engine, starcorp racing 17" rims, 2.5" (i think) exhaust, pod filter (smota super filter?), momo steering wheel found a previous for sale ad for it from a few years ago: so in the end, not for me
-
Hi, I checked out a skyline today, was an R33 GTS RB20E with an engine transplant - an R34 NEO6. However im not sure what the gearbox was - the car was manual before the conversion, but obviously there will be a big difference between the r33 rb20e box, and an rb25det neo box. All i could get off the box, was on the side of it, it has 2 rows of marking. RB 71 ??? #1 the ??? was in japanese or just unreadable. Any ideas what gearbox this could be?
-
throttle it supposed to be a voltage, so anyone that displays it as a % is just guessing to its range (eg assuming its 0-5v when its not)
-
ive been able to turn cylinders off/on on my old rb25 silvia. not all cars support the cylinder tests in the same way. unfortunately sr20's have it a different way, not sure if any software supports it that way (check out sr talk or whatever its called)

ive got a new group buy thread for a limited number of assembled interfaces. at this stage i hope to have 10 available, but obviously demand for these vs kits will determine how many of the 20 (in which 10 are listed as up to number 32. here) will be available for each ive added u to list in that thread, ill let u know when the first is available, should be sometime this week. if you want to make payment before its confirmed (one is ready, but needs cable done), then pm me with bank preference (if any) and ill pass on dd details. Peter

Edit: Assembled interfaces available from caz here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=109498 Group Buy over - thanks to everyone who took part! Edit: Its very important that you do not connect the cable directly to your laptop - it MUST go thru the interface box. Not sure what it would break, if anything if you hooked it up directly, but i dont want to be the one to find out either. Edit2: Given caz has a group buy for $105 for usb cables, it would make sense for anyone with usb only on their laptop to get a cable from there (unless you already have a usb->serial converter), given converters are 10$ and up. Following on from the Diy Consult Interface Kit, my brother is assembling some of these for those who are confident, or dont have the time/equipment to assemble them themselves. Please refer to the other thread for all other background information - the only difference between the kit and the assembled interface is the price, and it obviously comes pre-assembled. At this stage, 8 pre-made interfaces are/will be available. Cost: $70, which includes express post ($72 for paypal, but it's instant) Ordering and Payment: PM me to order Payment is available via bank deposit or paypal only: For paypal, this incurs a $2 fee, total being $72. Payment can made by logging into paypal, and choosing "send money", sending to my email (right click copy shortcut, then paste into the address field when sending money, obviously removing the mailto:). If your address in paypal is right and you choose send address option, then ill have everything i need to send out the interface, but a quick pm with a copy paste of all details would be good. You should ensure theres a confirmed interface available before you do so (else postage obviously cant occur until one is completed). Make sure a postage address has been supplied. Normally express post items need to be received but no signature (otherwise picked up from post office). Areas outside express post network wont arrive the next day. See list at end of post for previous/pending purchases. I'll keep this updated with the status of all orders. If you do not wish your details (SAU username or email if no SAU username supplied) or the express post parcel number to be displayed in this thread, then let me know. Already have/dont want consult plug/pins?: If you already have the consult plug/pins, or do not wish to get them with the interface (to save more money), then i can supply the interface minus the consult plug and pins (just wires on end of cable) for $55 ($56.70 for paypal). I wont, however, be able to provide any help for you to wire this up to your car's connector or however you wish to go about connecting it. Given the kit is made so that you can disconnect the box from the cable that goes to consult port, you could wire it directly to the pins on the ECU, but again this would be you're own responsibility. List of purchases: 1. Nightcrawler - sent 23/11/2005, MN6508936 2. lbfalcon - sent 25/11/2005, MN6508940 3. FAT32 - sent 28/11/2005, MN6508939 4. CoolPC - sent 05/12/2005, MN5834546 5. thanks! thats just what i always wanted now if only i had a consult capable car! (im casually looking at the moment now for something cheap with a consult capable sr20det/rb20det so i can get some more exciting projects going)
-
sent u a pm, wasnt really looking to sell yet, but at some point i need a car with a r32 (or greater) rb20det, or sr20det for possible last year uni project, so id either trade/swap this then, or sell before hand
-
some more kits are available now, see the main post my brothers gonna have a shot at constructing some, if that goes well then assembled ones will be available for those who dont wish to construct them themselves - no promises yet though (depends how long they take to construct etc). if that goes ahead, id guess around $70 for those
-
theoretically (and checking with a bench ecu): red on, green/yellow off (doing yellow wire bypass in construction) open calumsult, choose com4 and click open com port - yellow and green flash then go back off (getting ecu number) switch to gauges screen, turn switch to on, and yellow flashes once, then green is on constantly
-
once ive confirmed more are available (hopefully tonight or tomorrow), just pm me when ur sure about order - payment is as stated in the first post, either bank deposit or paypal - if u dont use internet banking then u can go into whichever bank is more convenient (stg/anz, let me know in pm) and ask to deposit money into the account (with details i give you). then ill normally get the money by the next day (as long as its done before end of previous business day) and can normally send it out that day (or the next) and you should receive it the following day (if ur inside express post network). advantage of paypal is its instant and would mean if its done early enough in the day, that i can send it out that day 2 will be $94 (if sent to same address) or $97 with paypal
