Metal head here..lol only a really good 8 will take a metal pounding, something like a Digital Design or similar. in a proper designed box. but only the best will have enough output for you if you like it LOUD!!! one solution for you might be a single 10" in a single reflex box. it hits hard and takes a beating without destroying the sub. I know what your after for bass. and a vented box or generic box will be too loose for your likings. but a sealed box with the right size for the drive will hit hard. a single reflex box will hit even harder with higher output, like being in front of the 18" in the bass cabinet at a concert. understand its more the box design then the sub that decides the double kick drum feel/sound, hell even a cheapo sub in good box sounds unreal. a 1000 sub in a generic box will sound lame. you also need a capacitor and amp with high dampening factor to sound decent. the ability to hit over and over without voltage sag or distortion. and of course a decent deck to provide a high voltage signal to the amp. I pretty much gutted my R34 to sound deaden it. some spray on tar based, some rolls of felted rubber glued in place, some dynomat. and some spray foam to fill the empty spots covered in fiberglass and tar undercoating. and it still needs more , in the roof , sunroof model rattles bad even with no bass makes a big difference to sound, and the stupid rattle from bass. for my car I have Digital design Alpines splits from japan, not my first choice but they came in the car on import. some focal ,morel, vifa softdome tweeters are better, mids too. but costly and must be installed properly . the tweeters are killer and can be rebuilt if you fry them,, they have withstood nearly 400 watts each with no problems at all, and peak of 1000 watts before. but its all about how much you want to spend because that routes sounds unreal but cost a lot to install them for best output. and all custom since the baskets are deep and tweeters are 4" models but can be trimmed down a lot to fit or behind cloth door panels. stay far away from 6x9 speakers if you want high output clean sound without distortion,. the cones break up at high volume . a good seperate 6" is far better hope that gives you some insight ?

Solobaric or Fosgate, JL audio , all rellay good for the money and many more. I was going to say , WHAT BOOT its all box? mine has a recycled 12 DVC sub in a fiberglass composite box, flush mounted BEHIND the side panel near the jack.cant see it at all removed the jack and put it on top of spare in molded holder. custom built but more then enough room to flush mount a very serious 10-12" and keep it out of the way, I lost , no part of my boot to sub and only a slight bit to hold the 3 amps in a false floor , both sides if the car have room for subs by the way in a R34 GTT just have to be creative, you also have plenty of room for a single relfex custom made box under the rear deck for a 10" which will outrun your clarions by at least 3 times over if done correctly. in a honda we hit 143 db with a 10" rockford in a small box described above and 800watts on it ? serious thump

Yes Im on the 12v forum too ? is that what you asked...lol I here you know a lot about the Sat Nav etc. name is Troy by the way. nice to meet another audio junkie..lol
-
can you share your finds here ? a lot of people ask this question on how to reuse the standard screens ? and also the any wiring found in the sat nav plugs ? cheers

I have the same setup, and converted mine to a aussie PAL tv, cheapo dvd, and Pioneer cd deck the clarion factory radio they come with sucks bad. in my car I have a new widescreen in the factory spot still motorized , a DVD player in the top din. and high end pioneer in the bottom din. only due to cost and recycle older gear. the car I have has the a/c controls above the double din but have noticed some of the guys in the UK have them down lower? for gauges i cut out my asstray, and cig lighter for gauge locations, tight fit but if your careful in looks factory. being a pro installer/shop owner from USA since 1985 now so I've seen it all..lol oh the widescreen is also running a bumper camera into it, and a outboard GPS stashed behind it. if you dont want the screen to keep going up just unplug it ? becareful not to snap the dash vents when you remove them to get to the screws. Im creating a photo archive of my mods to post up for others time permitting , hopefully finished up in the next couple weeks, delayed due to the carbon fiber pods for the tweeters, amp rack and subby box. all hidden equipment but show/sound off quality on a budget

I dont have time or I would computer design your subby box and build it, ask Jack 88 on here, see if he's busy or not? the hard wired converter is easy, take the cig plug apart, look at the power wire going to the center pin, it is the positive wire, the other is ground. one side of the wire case will normally have ribs on it or white stripe. make note of the one that has the positive wire. cut off the cig plug leaving a little bit of wire on the end so you can rebuild it if you desire later on. buy a blade fuse holder of the same value used in the cig lighter plug. from autoshop. if it takes more then 10amps I would run a 10ga wire to the battery and fuse it within close proximity of battery to protect the car not the item. ground it within a few centmeters of the conveter to a bare metal ground with a large tex screw(watch out for fuel lines or other items under it) or a existing bolt, seat bolt works good just scrape off the paint first under it. solder all conections to prevent failures. make sure the power converter has fresh air to keep cool and mount secure, tidy up the wires, done!!! depending on the convertor location you might need a on off switch too and relay what kind of sub box do you have in mind? for what brand and type of subs. what music type? goal, sound off compete or just nice looking? make's a big diff in cost how much power will you run to them? you might be better off buying a used box on commy club site, plenty around. thats where i sold my last two VT boxes? unless you want custom /cool boxes? if you get stuck i can pro desgn it, but dont have time to build now, sorry

Neck ties are bad..lol why not bring some old clothes in good nick for the families who lost everything as part of the dinner fee ?, im sure everyone has at least one pile of old but good clothes.. I know if I had nothing a clean pair of pants, tshirt, etc would go LONG WAY to create dignity and ease the pain ever so slightly?

I'll see what I can do , maybe donate some time for a photoshoot to raffle off or ?, I'm not to certain its right to create a "Ball theme " for this, the people your trying to help have nothing, its kinda rubbing there nose in it if they see everyone dressed in good clothing, plus the money spent to dry clean, and buy the items if you dont have nice stuff would be better spent on the red cross appeal then a few hours of playing dress up? my thoughts anyway

And to prove the laws failed, the guy in question just left with a burnout, then up the road a huge one in the same spot as before caning it down the road for a block or two? if the car was impounded it wouldn't have happened ??? but they really just need to prosecute the driver not the car? take his license on the spot and let the court sort it out later???
-
Ok I just witnessed the Hoon laws in practice down the street from my house. I heard a V8 car doing a massive burnout and a slide around the roundabout up the road from me, then he drive down the street at a extreme speed, I watched this unfold in front of me, I would guesstimate his speed to be at least 80k and accelerating in a 50k zone not bad for a block. I was on the patio watching him speed when the cops pulled onto the street a block behind him giving chase. he saw them and tried to do a u-turn into a house driveway to go the other way. bang busted. the cops got out talked to him and his female friend, all the while being heckled and taughted by kids on bikes in their teens who came to see the fun. at the same time another v8 powered car on the road behind me was doing a massive burnout. almost like a "come catch me if you can deal"? in less then 4 min they gave him either a warning or a ticket, but never once looked the car over, and it was modified a lot from the sound of it. about a 70-71 chevy camaro, nice car for a GM car.but think either the kids on bikes , around 20 of them or not looking at anything but imports for defects. kept this car from the canary. and it should have been impounded for the excessive speed with kids on the street on bikes. some little ones too. did the police feel overpowered ? seemed like it ? But in retrospect, I'm glad to see they caught the idiot but the laws didnt seem to fit the crime committed ??. and I do commend the police for doing there job either way. and yes they did go around the other street to look for the other car too?lol

2012 Olympics As you know, London (Stratford) will be hosting the Olympic Games in 2012. What you may not know is that many of the famous events which go to make up this spectacular event, are to be especially altered for 2012. A copy of these changes has been leaked, and is reproduced below. OPENING CEREMONY The flame will be ignited by a petrol bomb thrown by a native of the area, in the traditional dress of balaclava and shell suit. The flame will be contained in a large overturned police van situated on the roof of the stadium. THE EVENTS In previous Olympic Games, East London's competitors have not been particularly successful. In order to redress the balance, some of the events have been altered slightly to the advantage of local athletes. 100 METRES SPRINT Competitors will have to hold a DVD player and microwave oven (one in each arm) and on the sound of the starting pistol, a police dog will be released from a cage 10 yards behind the athletes. 110 METRES HURDLES As above but with added obstacles (i.e. car bonnets, hedges, garden fences, walls etc) HAMMER Competitors in this event may choose the type of hammer they wish to use (claw, sledge etc) the winner will be the one who can cause the most physical damage within three attempts. FENCING Entrants will be asked to dispose of as many stolen goods as possible in 5 minutes. SHOOTING A strong challenge is expected from local men in this event. The first target will be a moving police van In the second round, competitors will aim at a post office clerk, bank teller or Securicor-style wages delivery man. The traditional .22 rifle has been replaced in this event by a choice of either a Browning automatic handgun or Sawn-off 12-bore shotgun. BOXING Entry to the boxing will be restricted to husband and wife teams, and will take place on a Friday night. The husband will be given 15 pints of lager while the wife will be told not to make him any tea when he gets home. The bout will then commence. CYCLING TIME TRIALS Competitors will be asked to break into the University bike shed and take an expensive mountain bike owned by some mummy's boy on his first trip away from home. All against the clock. CYCLING PURSUIT As above, but the bike will be owned by a visiting member of the Australian rugby team, who will witness the theft. MODERN PENTATHLON Amended to include mugging, breaking and entering, flashing, joyriding and arson. SWIMMING EVENTS All waterways are currently being tested for toxicity levels, once one is found that can support human life, swimming events will be organised, please note that the Synchronised Swimming event for this year will comprise of dropping acid and watching all the funky ripples on the pool, the specific musical support to this event will be provided by 'The Verve'. MARATHON A safe route has yet to be decided. MEN'S 50KM WALK Unfortunately this will have to be cancelled as the police cannot guarantee the safety of anyone walking the streets of East London, especially anyone that appears to be mincing ... THE CLOSING CEREMONY Entertainment will include formation rave dancing by members of the Stratford Health in the Community anti-drug campaigners, synchronised rock throwing, and music by the Ilford community choir. The flame will be extinguished by police riot water cannon following inevitable pitch invasion by confused West Ham organised hooliganism club. The stadium itself will then be boarded up before the local athletes break into it and remove all the copper piping and the central heating boiler. Late News: Apparently Liverpool were set to put in a bid very similar to the above but with the Pentathlon modified to include: Killing a spouse, digging a hole, burying the body, laying a patio and the strangely named 'Calm Down' contest. Stop Press: To guarantee the entry of any Manchurian athletes at all, Drugs testing has been waived this year.

spotted a yellow R34 headn down south road in aldinga, got a wave too, nice spotted a wild Mitsu GSR 4dr old skool in silver with a huge turbo in it.at the seaford mobil, lots o flutter and it looked like a lot of money wrapped up in it. fuel system was all braided under the car but hanging like the fast and furious car NOS lines? he had to show off to me, floored it out of mobil, i didnt even look over,,, DENIED!!!!lol defect on your fuel lines hanging down a fair bit.good luck not catching them on something. a flat black r31 aussie with a pink racing stripe sprayed from a rattle can with a blonde chick driving it, needed some shockers bad..lol and a aussie R31/RED one in seaford with a bunch of P plate kids in it ,too busy looking at my car to drive , had to avoid them ,, you dont stop mid round about to look, and then again when I come up behind you only to try to turn into me.. where did you learn to drive, go back to driving school.lol

I would avoid those tires, I have some on my R34 they dont wear well and are slick in rain and dry. and sound like a dump truck in the noise dept. plus there plus the cost a bit ? if you do a search there was a thread about tires not long ago ? my two cents worth!!

A good installer will always stand by the quote unless they find some hacked up mess , a good one will also quote a realistic time frame too, but i can't say what you had done, so not bad mouthing him, this might need to go under the recommended techs if he sounds like a good guy?
