  6. so at the end of the day to get the engine to work reliable, i should just ditch the stock ecu and go aftermarket eg Link or Microtech etc..........., then i can do away with the air flow meter and the boost cut(and rev limiter) alltogether??
  7. so all i will need when i put on my bigger steel wheeled T3 is a fuel cut defender to get rid of the boost cut??, will this still apply as I have the motor in a VL commodore???
  8. can anyone tell me why the rb20det seems to have a boost cut as mine hits 15PSI then falls back to 12PSI, how do i get rid of the boost cut, can you buy a defender to remove it or is it just the ceramic turbo running out of air/power??
  9. i used to get up at 4am to go to work, i used to let it idle for like 2 minutes, not good reving a cold engine, plus it doesnt hurt to let the oil circulate for a minute or 2, expecially when its like 2 or 3 deg when its a frost outside
  10. ok sorry for a long wait, yeah the compression is ok, ive got spark to the plugs, injectors working, ecu working, fuel lines are ok and the bastard still wont start, the auto electrician it is at has no idea why it wont start, i think i will just take it to JPC in melb and get the pro's to fix it
  11. gettin compression test done tommorow, soon find out whats goin on!
  12. i changed the timing belt over and it went back on fine, everything is ok. im gettin a mate to do a compression test tommorow to narrow dow the possibilites, but i noticed on the ecu the light was flashing and when i went to crank it over the light goes out, im thinking the ecu is not getting power when im cranking the engine. Yeah Nugget i pissed myself laughn when i first saw a mate with that can of that crap..
  13. ok ive just put in a new rb20det into my vl commodore, but i have a problem it will crank over but wont start, i have spark and fuel and the ecu says everything is ok anyone got any ideas?
  14. i just need a bit of confirmation if i have put the timing belt on right on my rb20det i set the crank to tdc by ligning up the mark on the crank gear with the mark on the oil pump housing and then aligned the both cams with the marks on them with the marks on the backing plate does this sound right? i double checked the crank was right by putting on the bottom cover and ballancer and having the first mark inlingn with the mark on the timing cover
  15. so i just block off the the pcv valve then? or leave it connecteed and run 2 hoses form the rocker covers, what works best a catch can or a oil/air seperator?
  16. hey Clint32 did you notice much difference goin from 4:3:1 to 4:1:1?, I read on www.calaisturbo.com that its's worth dropping in 4:3:1 that the r32 gts-t has combined with the engine/gearbox conversion to get the most out of the conversion, my only problem with the conversion is that the speedo is about 20km/h out!

  18. dont know Steve its a bolt on to standard manifold, and is internal wastegated, steel wheels, but ive tried bolting it on but the water connections are a different thread.
  19. I have put a RB20DET in my VL calais, is it worth me swapping ratios form 3:45stock to a R32 4:36? Im going to do a bit of drag racing whats the best to use???

  21. How do you install either a catch can or oil/air seperator on a RB20DET, do you have to block off the pcv valve or not?
  22. I have a VL with a RB20DET in it whats the best way to go about upgrading a pump, ive read zoom magazine and the say to go internal? but the vl uses 2 pumps 1 external and 1 internal so what do you change?

Hey I have a VL commodore and just threw out the old NA RB30 and transplanted a RB20DET into it, Ive just bought a T03G turbo can anyone tell me how good this will go on the RB20 I have, the motor is stock at the moment except for a TurboSmart supersonic BOV, I got the turbo from Japanese Motorsport and they said it will get me over 200kw?
