  10. front driveshafts look in good condition. cv joints feel okay, when rotating thru full range of movements by hand. looks to be original cv boots on shafts. splines are straight. bearing in front hubs feel good, so dont think the car they come off has done too many kms. Shafts are leftovers from a front cut. Stephen

  16. a radiator shop should be able to do a test where they can check for hydrocarbons(fuel) in the water, the test solution changes colour when hydrocarbons are present. can't remember the name of the test but they hook up the tester where the radiator cap goes. Also are you sure there are no leaks from any of the other hoses not being tight enough. don't forget to turn heater on fully when bleeding the air out of cooling system if you do it yourself.
  17. Hi, just interested in what sort of speeds you were getting up to, does your car have the M-type(4 piston ft. brakes/ 2 piston Rrs.)? I thought the RB74 pads were supposed to be pretty good. I have Bendix ultimates and they work really well, been to QLD raceway a couple of times and no fade from pads, got a spongy feeling (brakes still worked ok tho)which I think was either due to rubber brakelines expanding &/or firewall flexing. I was driving the car as hard as I could - 72 sec on short course, about 11 secs slower than a GT3...lol I even used std nissan pads on the old lakeside raceway track and had no fade at all, coming from 190km/hr down to about 80 km/hr with maximum braking and abs doings its thing , and still had no fade, doing 68-70 sec laps. if you dont have the m-type brakes then maybe a caliper upgrade would be helpful in being able to apply more pressure to the rotors when you are braking.
  18. Hi just wondered what sort of kms peoples cars are showing up wear in their cars suspension components. AT ~ 170km (bought the car 5 yrs ago with 107kms on clock) my '90 GTS4 got new subframe bushes (old ones leaking from about 155kms), rear hub bushes & rear steering components (lots of play in bush/tierods). Have spent around $2200 on bushes and components ( no shocks) doing everything myself where I can. To make everything new will only take about another $700 for bushes and $1000 for decent shocks) Car has spent 5 yrs on crappy qld roads with occasional excursion to the track. Next time you have the rear wheels off the ground try grabbing the rear wheels at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and see what movement you get. Have someone else look up at the hub bushes and watch the rear hicas steering arms. My car had some play in hub bushes and rear steering. With the new bushes/tierods fitted you can not feel any movement at all. Makes the rear hold the corners a lot better for sure now they are fixed. Some feedback on the life that people are getting from their suspension components would be interesting to know, especially for those who have or are buying the early r32 models. It would also be interesting to know if the 89/90's R32's being brought in now are in better condition because they have spent more time on Japanese roads i.e. saved from our bumpy goat tracks!.
