  1. sometimes when you push all the fluid out through the wheel bleed points you push all the crap thats been sitting in your brake resoivoir down and damage the seals of the master cylinder unit. If the resoivoir is dirty i have in the past syphoned it out of the resoivoir to reduce the chance of dirt going down, you will use more fluid bleeding it as there is a good chande you will introduce air into the system but it can save hassles.
  2. anyone seen a skyline cruising goldcoast with plates shy..32 or similar.. seems to be girls are doing the traditional boy thing and cruising with their mates. sorry no tips on getting the girls from their cars into yours....lol
  3. hi, just an update for those doing compliancing . make sure that all the paper work is perfect and assume nobody will do a 100% job. I ended up getting another plate on my car with the seating capacity on it, to say that my car was changed from a 5 seater to a 4 seater then back to a 5 seater just because the person at qld transport put a 4 in seating capacity instead of a 5!!!! on the origianal reg application - my car hasnt changed at all! Whats more anoying is that if the person knew what they were doing they would have picked that the original plate did not cover a seating 'change' that they 'apparently' saw and should have asked for a plate with the appropriate seating change code on it. I then would have corrected the error then and not have had to pay for another plate. and an interesting thing I heard about seating changes, if you follow the letter of the law.e.g. you have a 4 wheel drive and it is a 7 seater and you take out the rear seats technically you have to get it complianced when removing the seats and again when you put them back in. If you dont then your car is not legally registered and shouldnt be on the road. Implications... so if anyone has an accident which involves a 4wd, van, mini-van with seating changes then you should be able to say that they arent legally registered and shouldnt be on the road - of course you better check they dont have a mod plate for this.
  4. hi, those are the makers of the original shocks i think
  5. Hi just in process of getting road worthy for my gts4, passed everything else but have been told need seating number on compliance plate, engineer says its not necessary because seating has not been modified, still factory seating capacity. has anyone here got a personal import? and does it have the seating capacity on the compliance plate? mine doesnt and on the plate it has " mod seating capacity --------------------------------" because no changes were made. any one? Stephen
  6. hi, they are getting cheaper, i joined that prestide motorsport list and i got this one the other day. http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/?/au/...sp?StockID=3099 not bad but hard to tell 100% Stephen
  7. hi gtr has different diff ratios - so may have to change the rear diff to match the gtrs front diff ratio to the gts-4 rear ratio- unless you use gts-4s front diff also. gtr has mechanical rear lsd, gts 4 has viscous gtr has different ratios in gearbox and i think also has heavier duty gears in box, tho box looks same on outside. 4wd system is the same - variable torque split to front wheels chassis is the same suspension takes same parts although spring rates may be different wiring is very similar - see gtr workshop manual covers gtr and gts-4 gtr has thicker front discs and has directionally vented rotors, gts-4 has same rotors left and right - pads are same for each tho. gtr has better seats, gives slightly more rear leg room in back gtr is a 4 seater, gts-4 5 seater if they have small bums gts 4 has same driveshafts, swaybars, gtr has of course aluminium bonnet and front guards both have abs brakes gtr has super hicas 4ws as opposed to normal hicas on gts-4. gtr ( more aggressive to cope with the extra power that gtr has??) may have a diff rate that 4wd comes on-?? not sure tho prob a few others, but these are the main ones hope that helps Stephen
  8. hi, dont know if 'cheap' applies to anything on a skyline, but i was going to rebush my std top arms and they wanted around $300 for the bushes alone, i just went to nissan and bought stock arms, got the pair for $380, not cheap but they did knock it down by $60 - a first for me, having a dealership knock the price down to make a sale. It was Moorooka nissan. p.s. did u fix your ride height probs? Stephen
  9. did a 8 min 50 on first go in a Ford Mustang, 415 hp and lightened the full 10%, with sports - soft tyres on the front and sports - medium on the rear. Has nice cornering manners, brake into the corner and it really hugs the corner unlike some others I tried which just seem to throw you off the track. did this in the arcade mode as I only hired it for a day. check out the GTR story (english) vid on the net, has a german racer take an R34 round the track, he was the nissan gtr test driver and has done something like 10 thousand laps in his driving career on the nurg, he is pulling 170 mph in some areas passing traffic like a rocket!
  10. hi, just to throw another option in the ring, a guy who i work with has a commodore ute, i think 98-98 model, has a na 3.0l supra bottom end (apparently quite cheap to get) with the 1jzte?(2.5 l turbo head I), one very large turbo and everything else done to suit, putting out 650 hp at rear wheels. everything toughened up to suit, he's finding out the hard way, everythings breaking then being upgraded with tougher bits. not to knock the good ol rb, but i think a 1jzte is about $1500, and a 3L na under a grand from memory. Stephen
  11. Hi, just wondered if anyone here has a silver 4dr r32 GTS 4 with nismo rear wing and gts 4 logos in the front intercooler/brake ducts in the front bar. It used to be mine and i sold it a few years back to a guy out cleveland way, saw it advertised for sale on a noticeboard at griffith uni last year but have never seen it out cruisin brisbane at all. Stephen
  12. I've just seen the Best Motoring GTR prodigy video which has a comparison between: R32 GTR R33 GTR R34 GTR - freshened up. Evo Sti V35 Skyline all others still stock. They tested them on some japanese race track with race car drivers, the v35 started in pole. It was very interesting how the field ran, r34 won just over sti?evo then the r33 then the v35 and then the good old r32. I was surprised how well the v35 went, no turbo or 4wd to help and this car is supposed to be lower spec than a 350z, missing out on under chassis bracing and other goodies. The r32 was the oldest car and was stock albeit in good condition and supposed to be representative of what you would be get if you bought one now. It could have easily done better with some basic mods or maybe even with a refreshen to new specs but as a stock car comparison the test was quite interesting. Even tho the r32 is old technology I still expected it to come before the V35, 4wd and turbo should be good enough to beat a normally aspirated 2wd with the same hp. All in all it bodes well for the next GTR, if they have the suspension set up better than the v35 and a turbo and 4wd the performance and handling is going to be amazing... Stephen
  13. rear rotor has a handbrake inside it. Stephen
  14. up here in brisbane you can get the slotted rotors for an extra $50 on top of normal price, just have to wait for rda to do it, takes around a week or less, so around $500 all up. prob less of a wait if you are in melbourne/sydney. Stephen
  15. hi, iv e put rda rotors on my R32 gts4 and they've done one track day so far and are running perfectly, they were installed the night before and 'run in' as per the rda instruction sheet. They did 35 laps at qld raceway without a problem - and they only cost $77 each for rda 909( 280mm x 30mm) , same as Gtst. p.s. something I've noticed is that my Bendix ultimates are Not squeaking any more, maybe they have been better run in this time than when i installed them with the old discs. Stephen
  16. hi, just a quick thought if you're importing a gtr, just discconect the afms, it will default to limp home mode and shouldnt rev past 2500 rpm.... i cant see why this wouldnt be ok for a little while. Stephen
  17. what sort of cluster, gtst with boost gauge, or gts 4 with torque gauge or std gts? Stephen
  18. hi, do you still have the bilstein shocks, how old or how many kms have they done? Stephen
  19. hi, Ive got a R32 GTR rack, will sell for $300. I think it should fit ok if you have Hicas, check with someone who has the nissan fast software whether the steering racks share the same part number between non-vspec GTR and GTST to be sure . Stephen
  20. quick check , have you got the 'a' s on the front upper arms on the outside of the car, the arms only go in one way. Also they have to be torqued up when the car is at normal road height, possibly they may not have tightened one of them properly. Also is there any packing behind the plates that the top arms mount too - on the body, maybe someone has tried to adjust the camber that way. Stephen
  21. Hi, I dont if its the same on the R34's but I know with my R32 that the wheels have to be balanced within 5 grams, some places dont balance that accurately. Also when you checked your tyres, did you see any bulges in the tyres, also some tyres dont stay perfectly round and will wear and go out of balance. You havent flatspotted the tyres or anything? Failing that is your steering rack ok, maybe its had a wack from a curb and damaged inside. Jack the car up and see if there is any loose/rattling movements from rack. Stephen
  22. Hi, have you tried to fix the old one, do a search on forum on how to do it. Stephen
  23. nissan filters are cheapest and seem to be pretty good, only $7, same as Rb30. Sparkplugs - I wouldnt waste my money on platinums, if you can change them yourself just go the coppers. Stephen
  24. I have RDA rotors in my R32 GTS4 and they've seen five 5lap sessions at QLD raceway a couple of weeks ago, no fade on the day at all have had no probs at all, using the Bendix ultimates pads which only cost $90 for a front set. RDA are a big manufacturer and are tied in with EBC brakes. And they are reasonably priced not over the top like DBAs I got mine for $77 each, slotted cost around $120, I wouldnt bother with the cross drilled. http://www.rdabrakes.com.au/prodinfo.htm Stephen
  25. Hi, I think those skyline coupes look good, I mean every car has its supporters. I dont like R33's, the only exception being the GTR with its pumped guards. The v35's do look a bit like the 350Z but that isnt such a bad thing. I cant really see R35/36 GTR breaking GTR tradition, from a looks point of view most of the base model Skylines look ok (except for a couple) and the GTR has always been the one with a more agressive and purposeful look. Stephen p.s. For a Z / Skyline looks comparison; check the nissan site out. http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/lineup.html go down to the bottom and select 'Fairlady Z' and then Skyline and see how similar they are, they nearly line up perfectly!!!
