  3. All this car theft (90% skylines) gets me pretty peeved! there's been 5 skylines stolen around Launceston Tasmania in the last 2 weeks with only 1 recovered (rattle canned black and slapped on some shit wing) I'd cut sick if someone stole one of my skylines, specially the one I spent 2 1/2 years building myself, went without SO much to get it to where it is on my rather crap wage lol. To have it stolen or taken away from me would pretty much make me cry and want to harm the theif.
  4. Their down in Hobart yea? I live in Launnie but willing to travel or even send it to Melbourne. Have always been told not to go near Boost, but Brother actually called me 10 mins ago telling me to go see Brad because he built a 'fussy' rb2630 for a mate... So guess I'll look into it =) Cheers
  5. Hi guys, I am wanting to build an RB25/30 for my project car, have it all planned out, am getting the parts together and I know what needs doing. Just wondering if anyone knows of a mechanic anywhere in Tassie who knows how to and can build one bottom to top and actually put 'TLC' into their work, do a good job and be fussy about it instead of just slapping it all together??
  6. Thanks Dale =) pretty much what I had in mind then, thanks for confirming =) and yes, will definitely be doing an oil pump upgrade and fully rebuilt bottom including rods. "Actually, when you look over the 30DET build guide, and a few threads in this section, I would think it's highly advisable to check approaches and results from others, and your own build plan and mechanical specs will become much clearer. GL and update as you go along." Good iea, I'll do just that =) Thanks for the help / advice
  7. Hi guys, Looking to start building a 25/30 (my first one) for my project in the next 2-3 months. First off I live in TAS, so there's no specialist mechanics and what not here for this kind of build (but there are good mechanics). So I am doing as much research as I can before I start. Yes I have read and looked over every 25/30 thread I can find on here and working on getting my head around it all =) Am having a little trouble getting my head around the VCT / VVT and the whole oil pressure thing and what to do with my build. There are just so many different ways and methods on here that people have done and how to go about it that I am at a loss with what to do. My 25 head is NOT the Neo model and has Tomei 270 procams, springs and lifters, new valves might be on the go too. Engine is running 950cc injectors and a Garrett T04Z turbo with Wolf 3D Ver 4 ECU. My question is: what is your recommendation for the VCT? delete or keep? Oil Drain Back? etc. 2 links that have caught my eye are: http://www.skylinesa...al-oil-control/ and http://www.spoolimpo...d-oil-drain-kit please have a glance over the first link at least for me =) Would LOVE all the help, advice and feedback I can get =) Thanks much SAU
  8. Ok I think I get that =) I plan to have it as a weekend car, so how do you think It'd go with the OTHER gearset for every day driving and when I'd like to put my foot down now and then? even a guess would be great =)
  9. Hey SAU =) Just a quick question. I'm kinda retarded with knowing gear ratios and was just wondering what the difference in these two sets will be with the SAME diff ratio, as in what would it do to my car / driving...? Not sure if the Skyline R33 ratios are exact, it's the closes i could find on forums. >>Note: The engine is an RB30/25 with a Garrett T04Z and Tomei 270 cams<< SKYLINE OTHER 1st - 3.32 1 st - 2.66 2nd - 1.90 2nd - 1.78 3rd - 1.30 3rd - 1.30 4th - 1.00 4th - 1.00 5th - 0.75 5th - 0.74 Diff - 4.11 Diff - 4.11 Cheers in advance for any help =)
  10. cheers =) I've never looked into carbon or even know how it works but I might have to look into it sometime.
  11. LOVE this build thread! nice, clean, shiny builds like this look SO good! Can't wait to see more =D
  12. I've never tried that but personally I'd use the alfoil of gladwrap / clingwrap method, or you can get Mould Release Wax on ebay, it's pretty cheap too at around $5 for a small lot, just brush it on, glass it up, wait till it's dry and remove =) I get all my Fiberglass supplies from Composite Supplies on Ebay, great products and prices =)
  13. Fiberglassing is pretty easy, I'm self taught through forums, videos, trial and error, have made dashes, trims, HEAPS of repairs and even custom body kit parts. The foam is best to be taken off, can be frustrating to tear off at times but if you slap glass and bog over top you'll have a lot of fitment issues. The actual shape of the dash under the foam can differ a lot from what you see on top but you can fix all that and shape it how you like with MDF and cloth =) This is a dash I'm currently making for a mate, nearly ready for primer, filler and final sand before paint =) It is different but yea =P Also pays to FIX the fiberglass to the actual dash to prevent cracks or movement, for example, rough up the plastic with the roughest sandpaper you can get or drill a few small holes here and there to make an anchoring point and glass a little underneath, or even rivets or flat headed screws.
  14. Hey guys, decided to tidy up the clutter and mess or poorly installed wired and gear hidden up under my dash while it's out and I stumbled along this but have no idea what it is, what it's for or even what it was wired in to =S It has a little fork type thing that slides or swivels left to right. It was just shoved up somewhere so have no idea where it goes either, if anywhere. Can anyone enlighten me on what it is or might be or if it's just junk (don't want to throw if it it's needed) =) ( sorry for image size >.< )
  15. hey mate, i've got 2 sets of full boot trim and all the clips and plugs if you'd like them, (for a Skyline R33 2 door model) free of charge, would just need postage as I live in TAS =) as for the dash and coolant screws, can't find anything at a hardware shop or a nuts n bolts type place
  16. Hey guys, as the post says, I'm after an R33 passenger door exterior window seal, the black strip that runs along the top of the door, with or without the clips. As i bent mine and can't repair it =( If anyone could hook me up with one or direct me to one it'd be greatly appreciated =D Cheers guys.
  17. Hey guys, really needing some help if someone out there is smart enough, I've tried researching and trying to learn but it all gets me confused =S Anywho, long story short I'm currently building an R33 GTS-T RB25/30 with a custom wide body that i'm making myself lookin pretty sweet fiberglass btw, scissor doors etc, all metal fenders etc retained. So the front body is 1 1/2" wider than original body, looking for wheel to sit out 1" past the original body. and the rear body is 2" wider than original body, looking for wheel to sit 1 1/2" past the original body. I have no problem at all rolling the front guards to fit, whatever it takes I have no problem cutting and welding the rear arches to fit wide wheels past original arch (I'm a welder by trade) Also after a decent dish! at the moment the car has 17" Sparco Racing rims can't remember width and offset. wheels also have to get around the brakes without spacers / adapters if you understand this and what I'm after, please help, I'm happy to take measurements, answer questions, etc. Any help or advice greatly appreciated, just wanting to know if anyone has any idea what sizes and offsets i'd be looking for when searching for my wheels =)
  18. www.carmate.com.au Got my full Veilside kit from there last year for my R33 project, it was a perfect fit, even the fiberglass bonnet =)
  19. their insane! just look at the size of that DISH! so where do I look at for a set of wheels?
  20. Hey guys, I'm just after some quick help or advice. I'm currently building my second R33GTS-T but this time I'm going all out with everything on the car. But to cut short I have a full veilside bodykit including wing (yes i know, but i like the out there shape) Also have the "T Style" bonnet from www.carmate.com.au but with the middle cut out and 10mm clear perspex in it's place (still has all the same shape) And to make things interesting I'm also hand crafting a wide bodykit for the car, nearly finished 1 side (front drivers fender, door and rear quater) looks something like the attached pic (fender, door and rear) but with the veilside kit. The R33 looks awesome and fat with a wide kit, I'm really loving it =) Anyways I know stuff all about wheels =( all I know is i'm after something with a deep dish, preferably chrome (don't want black) and that the front fender is +1" and the rear is +2 on the original body. I'm after some help or advice on what to get or where to look or rim sizes.
  21. Hey guys, just a quick question. I'm currently working on an R33 for my project car and I'm wanting to change the color of the interior door panels and pillars... But I don't really want to get them re-trimmed in leather or vinyl etc. I live in Tassie so things like that are expensive for me. Already got full leather interior minus the doors, pillars and floor (not doing floor =P) any suggestions as to what I can do? Not sure about that vinyl paint in pressure pack as a friend did it and it seemed to scratch and rub off easily. I'm pretty handy with the HVLP spray guns, but i'm no spray painter |>metal engineer actually ;-) <| If a re-trim is my only option though then so be it, but thought I'd ask just in case. Cheers in advance for any help =) 5C077Y
  22. Hey guys, final offers on a few parts off my current R33 project car. no idea what kit/s they are but I'm selling a Front bar (with grille), Rear bar, side skirts (pair) and a spoiler. full kit is plastic, not fiberglass. Side skirts have a crack in each of them in the same place that I didn't even know was there till I pulled them off the car, easily repairable. Spoiler just needs a new coat of clear as it's started peeling. Rear bar is in clean neat condition. Front bar is just as good. lights included. Located in Launceston Tasmania Postage / courier from my place to yours is up around $300 per item =( Where as airport to airport is from $20 to $35 anywhere in aus but means you would need to pick items up from your airport. Make offers, first reasonable ones will have the desired item. Cheers, Scott
  23. ok guys, postage / courier from my place to yours is up around $300 per item =( Where as airport to airport is from $20 to $35 anywhere in aus but means you would need to pick items up from your airport or i could possibly arrange pickup from airport to your door, not sure.
  24. Hey guys, sorry I've been real busy workin on the car over the weekend. W0rp3D the Front Bar comes with the grill but the grill needs some TLC or fresh paint / touch up. I cannot yet reply to PMs =( Had lots of offers for the spoiler. I'll call around and get the postage costs for the enquiries I've gotten so far and post them after work =) (Monday)
