  4. more pics of the car (unwashed). Imageshack Album
  5. it also has an LSD and Electromagnetic rotary actuatored rear shocks. Go from soft to very hard with the press of a button. Should have some slightly lowered springs on the way as well. cheers Ben
  6. hahaha. hijack much? Well, if anyone wants a black one with luxo leather then this one is for you. The only black with leather in the country in fact!
  7. North Brisbane up in sunny, raining, sunny, cold, raining, windy, raining QLD.
  8. The funny thing is, when someone wants to sell their elgrand outside of NSW, it has to be returned to a 2/3/4 seater. Dotars will not accept that their determinations are wrong. If we used the same ruling applied to elgrands, no import would be acceptable for importation except trucks. The basics - Elgrand are being complied as passenger vehicles under the campervan category. To be allowed to do this, you need to proove that a van full of people is under the van's GVM. Since Japs have a lower average weight then us, our ruling of 68kg per seating posistion makes them exceed the set GVM for that van. The really interesting thing is one Elgrand may have a GVM of 2400kg, the next might be 2690kg and their is no difference in brake/suspension or drivetrain to compensate the increase and Dotars wont accept an engineers justification to say that if all the components are the same, then we can increase its GVM to the higher option.
  9. nah i need cash sorry. It is ONO though. cheers Ben
  10. Up for sale - New pics included as well! CEDRIC FOR SALE
  11. My project has finally come to an end. This vehicle started out as a VQ30DET CVT and soon after its arrival in 2008 the CVT blew up. Rather then spending the quoted 16grand to fix it, I sourced an RB25DET Neo from the same car and began the swap. After countless hours after work and weekends, its finally finished, and the best part is that EVERYTHING works! This is and will most likely remain to be the only RB25DET powered Y34 to be ever in the country (unless someone personal imports one). The reason for sale is simple. I already own another 2 cars and with the arrival of my son, i can only afford 2 sets of rego and insurance and sadly this magnificant car must leave me. Vehicle details: 2000 Nissan Y34 Cedric ~100,000kms on chassis but ~80,000kms on engine RWD RB25DET Neo 4 speed Automatic Leather and woodgrain interior 19" Work Rims and new tyres ABS Quad airbags Tri-zone climate control 6 stack CD player FM player converted to OZ frequency TV with RCA inputs adjustable reach and tilt steering column Electric seats front and rear Electric mirrors Electric windows Powersteering Remote keyless entry with central locking Xenon headlights and driving lights Autolock boot Programable MCU to control auto functions (windows up, lights dim, etc..) 12. The workshops are forced to do those things by the regulations. If we dont change cats, or have stock brake pads on cars when we affix the purple sticker, we will eventually get caught out and will have our license terminated. You think its unfair for you, try having a set of OEM wheels on the shelf for every model of car you own, knowing that you are supposed to have the car sent out to the market in completely factory trim but the owner will not pay for stock wheels soley for compliance. Same goes for brake pads, tyres, cats, EVERYTHING.
  13. To put it simply, the Japanese import industry is dying due to people wanting to save a buck to have a fun car while owning a mortgage (house). You just cant have both these days without sacrifice. So much for Dotars trying to help the industry make money, its more the opposite!
  14. Mine dont poke out of the gaurds and with 3 big dudes in the back, they tuck up under nicely. I've pm'd you regarding the springs.
  15. Its almost too expensive and difficult to convert. You'll need to convert the foot operated park brake to a normal hand brake, then you'll have to find a pedal box that will fit (custom) and a really small clutch master cylinder as its pretty tight near the firewall. Then you'd need custom tailshaft, seriously massage the transmission tunnel to fit in a 350Z 6 speed or Navara 6 speed box with new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel. Then your diff will be the wrong ratio. Need a custom centre consol and cut a hole in the tunnel for the stick to poke out. These cars are cruisers and not designed for heavy gear changes like in a manual. If you want a manual 4 door, get a skyline.
  16. yeah, wouldnt have bought them until i saw them on your car. Looks hawt! I dont think i'll need a gaurd roll as my offset may just squeeze them under when i lower it. Drove it for 3 hours on Friday with the trade plate. I have forgotten how smooth these things drive. If it wasnt for the stereo pumping tunes i probly would have dozed off! lol A/C is getting put in this week, then its safety cert and rego. Might get some lowered springs for it, dunno yet.
  17. some evidence providers will charge you 20K for a pack. We would if its a one off and only for one company to use. Usually evidence packs are about 3-5K depending on the cost of testing and how many workshops want to buy a pack. If we spend 30K on testing and sell 10 packs, then we'd only want a smidge over 4K to make a profit. If we spent 60K on testing we would obviously want more.
  18. just got my speaker back from Brisbane Audio & Speaker repairs. For $30 he did an awesome job. Before: After:
  19. when you're paid shit all to comply a car, you can't afford to spend much time on a car or pay a mechanic a good wage to do so. I take pride in my workshop and since i have started running it late last year i have had nothing but compliments about my workmanship. There is a trade off though. For example I spend on average 5 hours complying an Evo 8, pulling the bumper off to convert the xenons to normal globes, pulling the rear seats out and fitting child restraints, doing the cat properly, etc... If i was to do it dodgy and not bother with the xenon conversion and cat, then i could cut the time down to 2.5 hours and get 2 done in the same time frame. I could even cut it futher by not installing child restraints, which i know some workshops dont even bother doing! I charge $2400 INC GST + tyres. The dodgy bloke could charge $1250 and make more in profit. So the bloke that doesnt do anything by the book makes more money then me and gets away with not even complying a car properly. DOTARS are aware of these companies and are removing vehicle models from their schedules when they are inspected and found to be fraudulant, but 90% of them get away with it. Dotars must give 48 hours notice prior to a spot inspections, which gives the guy plenty of time to do the work proplerly. I could make twice the money and do twice as many cars if i do things dodgy, but in the end, the guy with a family that buys the Evo with no child restraints and gets defected due to the xenons is going to wish he paid me the extra $'s to do the job legally.
  20. Mine will be up for sale very shortly for 18K. Its a 2000 model VIP with the engine converted to the RB25DET and regular automatic. Just had some work rims installed and will be dumping the suspension in the near future. Its got a custom 3inch into 2.5inch exhaust from the turbo back which gives it a nice subtle engine tone. If you're not interested in that, then i would be looking for a top spec leather non CVT model. Add 3K for shipping and duties, 3k for compliance and tyres and another 1.5K for rego and any taxes. If you buy a high cost car it will end up costing a bit, but you'll have an extremely unique and prestige car. My cedric owes me 25K due to the CVT blowing up and costs in converting it.
  21. received a quote back on repairing the sub. $30 for a new foam surround and thats including installation! If it turns out ok, i'll let you know who did it. cheers Ben
  22. even more progress made today. Sick of pulling the dash cluster out to replace globes. Done it 5 times now. Seems a new bulb keeps blowing everytime, so i've replaced them all now. After playing the stereo hard for a few hours with some mates while we put the interior back together, the sub has blown itself, so now another thing to add to the to-do list. Put gas in the A/C Get the centre consol panels painted/woodgrained - Done - though I wrapped some peices in carbon fibre looking fabric. Put the interior back together and clean it up - Done Replace a broken wheel stud - Done Machine all discs and bleed the brakes - Done Align the steering wheel and full wheel alignment - Done New wheels and tyres - Waiting for 1 rim to come back from re-chrome and new tyres to be fitted. Mod plate - Done Safety certificate Registration Repair blown rear subwoofer - Waiting on quotes (Nissan want +$360!)
  23. something about returning home so you can use the navigation. Ohh and if you want to reset your clock, just pull your cluster out before 12pm and plug it all back in at 12pm on the dot
  24. not even sure if anyone reads these posts, but for my own records, the list has been reduced.
