  1. I also have most of the japanese writing on the display screen translated into a 23 page word document and for $20 i'll send you a copy. It contains information on how to auto adjust the windows, A/C, stereo and some of the buttons on the dash that are in japanese that are useful. Email me if you want a copy. [email protected] Looks like this:

  3. if anyone wants any CVT components let me know as i have a whole box with rooted bearings apart and for sale! Ben 0417 366 372
  4. if anyone wants a whole car to use for parts let me know. Otherwise i'll be sending the whole thing to the wrecker. Doors, bonnet, boot lid, interior, dash, diff, tailshaft, engine, radiator, etc.... will all be up for sale for cheap dollars!
  5. the long story cut short is that i was driving the cedric for about a week. Noticed the box starting to play up at cold start, slipping and surging etc... Called CVT NZ and they recon it was the box fluid, ordered new fluid at $1750 then dropped the sump off and found heaps of metal on the magnets and very dirty brown fluid. Called CVT NZ and they recon its normal to find some metal. Put new bright blue fluid in, attempted to drive car for a a couple of hours and it was making some terrible scraping noises. Put it on the hoist and called CVT NZ. They wanted 11K to rebuild, i told them that i could buy another car for that and proceeded to pull the box apart for my own interest. Found out what was wrong and no tranny specialist in australia would fix it without costing less then 11K. So i thought screw it, i'll find another box in japan and bring it over. 2 months of searching and countless people helping me look i found nothing. Then i thought i'll buy an accident damaged CVT car and swap the boxes over. Thought about it some more and realised that im probly going to get into the same situation again. Kristian being the kind and considerate man found me a cheap ass gloria with a regular tranny that checked out well and its arriving on the 12th. Then i'll be swapping everything over from one to the other, selling the spare engine and dismantling the rest of the car. Kristian has dibs on the shocks and CD stacker already Moral of the story, DONT BUY A CVT Cedric/Gloria! The CVT car we complied for a guy in WA had red fluid leaking out of the box. I called and told him that he MUST drop the fluid immediately and replace with some new fluid no matter the cost otherwise he'll be up for a 11K rebuild or donor car. I thought about going manual as i have access to a 5sp manual Z32 300zx, but with no clutch, brake, accelerator and ECU to put in, it would turn out to be more costly then bringing over a donor car. The donor car will cost me approx. $5500 landed but hopefully i can make some of that back in selling stuff out of it. Ben
  6. TOO HARD! Check these out. What is rooted is in semi spherical balls. It has metal ball bearings which wear out. Replacement car is on its way from Japan. Non CVT.
  7. Mine is still sitting on the hoist My donor car is arriving 12th may! Then its out with the engine and dash and swap over with the donor's engine ECU, loom, tranny, driveshaft, diff and anything else i see needs swapping. Stupid freakin CVT's!!! Check this out: CVT - Broken
  8. deposit has been taken. Feel free to express your interest just incase the sale falls through. cheers Ben
  9. cant believe this hasn't sold! Such a nice car to drive. Bought another car on a personal loan, so this really needs to go. Make an offer.
  10. purchased another car, so this has to go! 16K with stock wheels or 17.5K with the 20's!!!
  11. jesus thats low. Look very pimp. Amazing what a set of wheels, lip kit and airbags can do to a car
  12. Nope, Nissan didnt use that technology in the Extroid. this is what it should look like: This ad for when it was released also shows it running in a cut-away view. Youtube - Richard Branson Cheers Ben
  13. I've recently pulled the CVT out of my 2000 Nissan Y34 Cedric as it had some serious amounts of small gold coloured and metal particles in the sump not to mention shockingly dirty fluid. According to the blokes at CVT.co.nz you need to be a trained professional at rebuilding these boxes and they want $6-$11,000 for a rebuild/repair because they are one of the only english speaking extroid CVT experts in the world. Obviously I can buy a wrecked CVT equipped Gloria/Cedric in Japan and ship it over for a lot less then that, so i decided to rip the box apart and find out exactly what fails and have the parts replaced/replicated if the expensive is considered reasonable. The box in question is the RE0R04A 6 speed CVT which will be very similar to the 8 speed found in the GT8. I started the strip down last night and all i can say is its a nightmare. The amount of different sized bolts and clips/gears are scary. I've done the best i can at logging where all the bolts go and document everything with pictures so hopegully she'll go back together fairly easy. Since I have only worked on it for about 2 hours (including an hour to take the box out) here are some pics for you to have a gander at. I will provide more pictures/information as it comes to hand. Cheers Ben
  14. Price Drop! Price is $17.5K FIRM Or 19K with 20" wheels.
  15. you can get them, but it costs you extra and you know what im like giving money to the government
  16. took a couple of quick pics last night after giving her a wash.
  17. if it failed compliance and they told the dept of transport it failed, then you will never be able to comply it/register it in australia.
  18. getting a few looks around town, but no offers yet. Ebay auction ends soon. Bump up to the top.
  19. yep. Usual time frame is 14 days, maybe sooner, maybe a bit later.
  20. thanks, but in an auto unregistered car parked on slippery painted cement, doing the burnout thing wont prove anything. Im after something more definate.
  21. oil arrived today. Only took them 8 days for a promised 2! Also worked out to be $1710 AUD all up. I might do a write up on how to drain the fluid tonight. If i can be bothered. Yeah the 4 speeds only use standard ATF, so its about 95% cheaper lol.
  22. ok, i now realise the following: R = RWD A = R160, B = R180, C = R200, D = R230 ## = ratio rounded to the nearest tenth Therefore mine is a RWD. R200 with a 3.692:1. What i dont know is if its LSD or not. My other car has a RC39. Is that LSD or openwheeler?
  23. Hey all, Want to do a service on the diff and without pulling the backing plate off i need to know what oil i need to buy. The build plate states RC36 for the diff code. Does that make it a clutch/torsen/viscous LSD or an open wheeler? The car is a 2000 Nissan Cedric. Cheers Ben
