Good day everyone I'm planning on buying a new ACT clutch kit for my r33 and thought why not buy a lightweight flywheel as well. I was talking with a friend of mine about it and he asked me if i'm not gonna buy counterweight for it. I have never heard of anything about counterweight on RB's before and I've searched this site and google but couldnt find anything. Do i have to buy any counterweight? and if so where can i find one? FYI my friend has a FD rx7. I have found plenty of counterweight on google for rotories so i thought that is something only rotories need but i'm asking here just to be 100% sure before buying the flywheel. Thanks in advance.

Happy new year everyone, My mechanic figure out what the problem was with the engine. The ARP rod bolts i bought were a bit too long so i bought new ones just incase. Had to re-size the bolts to have enough clearance. He checked if there were any damaged done, didnt see any. The engine seems to be stable and is running fine and i'm in the run-in process at the moment. Hopefuly soon i'll be hitting the 300rwkw mark or around that.

That is one helluva FED, hope you get the trans sorted out soon so you can kick it up a notch! R.I.P.S. ftw!

no, i didnt build it. i dont know anything about engines, only things i know are from this site, thats why i took it to my mechanic. he doesnt seem to recognise the sound either, says it doesnt sound like main bearing. if theres any more info i need to add let me know, i could make a short vid tomorow if that would help. i really hope this didnt screw up my crankshaft, dunno where i could get a knew one. times like this i wish my car was in australia, than i could have taken it to a reputable shop.

hello everyone, i just rebuilded my rb25det and on its first startup there was this loud ticking noise coming from the bottom of the engine, what could it be? The parts changed on the bottom end are the pistons, main and rod bearings. First i thought it could be piston slap but doesnt that sound go away when the engine is warming up/ get to normal engine temperature? We used a stethoscope to listen where the noise could be coming from and it sounds the loudest at the oilpan, could this mean the main bearings arent good? The noise its making sounds like one of those small air compressors when you're pumping a tire, and when you turn off the engine the last ticking sounds like when you hit the topsite of an empty can/barrel, like tuunk. The parts used are CP pistons, ACL main and rod bearings and ARP rod bolts. Could the pistons have been installed wrong? Apart from that noise the car is idling normaly, its getting good oil pressure, no warning lights when the engine is running. One more thing about the main bearing, the shop who sold me them sold me main bearings for rb26dett when i asked him if they would fit he said that they are perfectly fine for rb25det and that the only difference is that the rb26dett bearings have 4 extra holes and the one for rb25 has only 1 hole but the measurements are the same. I would make a vid but i dont want to start the engine again to not risk breaking anything. Thanks in advance for the help. (excuse my english, english is not my native language)

Hello everyone, I made a thread in general maintenance but no one replied so far so i thought i'll ask here. I'm looking for the exhaust valve part number for a RB25DET series 2 r33. I've looked high and low on the internet and cant find it, hope you guys can help a desperate fellow out. cheers

Bump I did a google search and apparently there are no other forums out there that knows the oem valve numbers, its been asked many times with no results. So i was looking at the ferrea valves and was wondering if they are a direct replacement or if i need to modify the head for them? Do i need to buy new valve guides ect ect to use them? I hope someone can help me out, cheers.

Sup everyone, My engine is being rebuilt atm and my mechanic told my that 1 of my exhaust valves in cylinder 4 needs to be replaced. Does anyone know the oem number for the exhaust valve and are there any other nissan cars that uses the same valves? I did a search but didnt find any answers only thing i got was to look at erics performance parts shop but they only sell the whole set. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well i got 8 bearings and not 12 cant do much with them. Guess i'll give them a call and ask if they got the parts i need or get a full refund. This is really frustrating though, thought i can start rebuilding my engine soon now i got to wait for the right parts to get here. Thanks for the reply Duncan.

Sup everyone 2 weeks ago i bought a set of acl main and rod bearings for my rb25det, i just got them today and when i check the items i noticed that the rod bearings i got are for sr20det and the main bearings are for rb26dett part number is 7M2428H-STD. Will these main bearings for rb26 fit on rb25? I already mailed them so i can get the rod bearings replaced but i wanna know if i need to get the main bearings replaced too? Thanks in advance for the replies.

Pics Of My Ecr33 Rb26 Finally Finished!
Girorostar replied to ReganGTS25T's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sweet ride mate, how hard was it to convert it to left hand drive? did you do the work yourself? -
For my engine rebuilt i got ARP head and rod bolts, ACL main and rod bearings, metal gasket, cp pistons. Gonna resize the rods, prep the the block and head just so i can enjoy a reliable 300 rwkw or more depending on the tune. My plan is to do it right the first time. I dont think by only replacing the rod bolts would help you get a reliable 300 rwkw without any of other standard parts letting go somewhere down the track. A lot of rb25det's have met a faith like that on this island.

That 9.45 sec run looks like an easy accomplishment, very very clean run. Congratulations.

Indeed, i'll stick with the original plans and keep the stock rods and get them resized. Ordered the ARP rod bolts this morning, they should be arriving sometime next week. Thanks again for the replies everyone, really appreciate all the help

I will see if i can get the GTR rods, it will probably be a very difficult find though but i'll ask around. I've ordered a set of ACL main and rod bearings for rb25, they should be arriving this week. Will they fit the GTR rods?
-
Thanks for the reply. I will order a set of ARP rod bolts this week, to be honest i never thought of buying these good thing i asked Wish i could go to those tuners but i'm half way across the world D: but there's a very good tuner here thats gonna tune my car. A lot of ppl here trust him, he has built a lot of high powered cars.

Good day everyone, I just recently started buying all the parts i need to rebuilt my RB25DET engine. My CP pistons arrived couple of days ago and I was wondering if i need to buy a set of eagle rods too to achieve a reliable 300 rwkw or can the stock rods handle the pressure? Its a street car but will be going to the tracks ones a month. Some ppl here told me that the stock rods can handle it with no problems as long as i dont over do it but i wanna know what the ppl here would say about it cause you guys know a lot more about these cars. Thanks in advance for the help.

If your goal is to reach 600 rwhp next year i would suggest getting a greddy/hks/tomei timing belt instead of the oem timing belt. The OEM timing belt wont hold that much power.

Shock Absorbers For R33 Skyline
Girorostar replied to Rev Head's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry to hi-jack your thread but didn't wanna make a new thread with the same subject. Does anyone know the KYB part number for r33 gts-t '96? I've been looking in their US and AUS catalog but cant find it, or is there another nissan car that have the same part number as skyline? I'm really lost, cant find the part number anywhere, I've even tried their JP website but that wasn't much help. Thanks in advance for the input. -
Thanks for the reply Sheriff Wan. Guess i'll start ordering the gasket set, timing belt ect ect atm and than pull the engine apart. The thing is i keep hearing a ticking noice in the engine thats driving me crazy, when i went to do a compression test cyl 4 was giving a low compression. Thats the reason why i'm rebuilding. But the car seems to be running great though, i can get up to 160+ km/h without hesitating. I got no blue/white/black smoke comming from the exhaust or engine, got no leaks either so i'm kinda clueless on what the problem could be. Have to open it up to figure out what the problem could be. But this gives me a great opportunity to modify the car

Bump Does anyone know? I did a search and couldnt find it. I just need to know where i can find this info so i can start ordering. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I've got a stock '96 skyline gtst and i'm about to rebuilt to engine. Was wondering where i could find the main bearing and connector rod bearing sizes. The store where i'm gonna buy it from says to look in the car manual but my japanese suck, cant find it in there. He was saying that the rb25det has 3 types of bearing grades. Anyone knows where i can find this info for my engine? I wanna order the parts before i pull the engine out so i can work on it asap to get the car going again. Thanks in advance for the help

Wow thanks, i could use these too. The alignment of the rear wheels could use some adjustments. -
