  1. Mine made kind of a 'supercharger' sound when I blew a chunk of the turbo manifold gasket out, the other thing I'd've thought would be maybe a gearbox that's near stuffed!
  2. LOL yeah those are the ones, VL bro's are a classic case of taking the internet too seriously.
  3. I'm not 100 % if GTS-4 and GT-R are the same (my coilovers say BNR32 on them, and of course not having pumped guards, so I go off this), I've got 17 x 8.5 on the front and 17 x 9.5 on the rear in a +22 offset, the fronts sit in the guard about 5 mil at a guess? and the rears are right on the edge. Would I be correct to assume that higher offset = cheaper wheels as well?
  4. Skylines generaly last over 9000km.
  5. RB25DET from a Stagea in it, running a stock crossover pipe and throttle body, don't know if the pipe I replaced was the OEM one, but yeah 3" pipe and 3" clamps on it! Kind of strange now I'm thinking about it...
  6. A guy here bought a R33 GT-R Vspec and spun a bearing the first day he had it, coincidentally, though he had a spare 12k to lash out on replacing the motor with a second hand Tomei one (so he tells me anyway)
  7. Just that if you're running a rich tune, it can cause the cat to become blocked and not work properly, which then isn't diagnosed until the exhaust starts leaking out of every possible little gap lol.
  8. thread saved by bogan baiting fyi
  9. Nope, bought 3" pipe from Cummins and it was a snug fit, since they don't sell silicon pipe in 2.75 for some reason.
  10. cruise control for cool lol
  11. Well from rereading a couple of pages in the oil thread, I'm guessing that visual signs such as fuel dilution and consumption of oil (you'd be hoping that would be minimal in a new motor though!), and if you're anal about it, a used oil analysis? I don't know of anyone who changes their oil over 5000km either, I was of the understanding that only newer engines such as the LS family of motors could go for 10000 vs 5000km changes.
  12. Sounds like the OP knows what he is doing though, i mean you could always put a RB30S with triple Webers in it or something if you wanted to be really different lol, they sound hot!
  13. I watched the first two movies again with my girlfriend last night, and she even laughed at the dialogue (not into cars or particularly artistic movies either), I did notice that in the first one the yellow R33 is about the only car missing the 15kg and metre tall wing lol. Oh and Paul Walker reminds me of a labrador. And yeah 99% of comments in these threads are satirical like rev210 said, poking fun at a movie that walks the line of mediocrity and over the top cheesiness!
  14. Why not use the recommended tyre size for the rim?
  15. has anyone posted this on the ford forum? reminds me of the down's syndrome kid shopped into a VL image macro that used to start a flamewar on CT every week 5 years ago
  16. The first is my favourite game of all time, and most of the multiplayer is for a word, ridiculous lol, the second isn't being developed by BIS though, its a successor only in name, the true sequel is Armed Assault, which I've not yet had a chance to get my hands on a copy of, though a sequel to that should be out soon if it's not already.
  17. I installed linux redhat once years ago, with Gnome GUI, seriously its not worth bothering with unless you like command lines and having uber leet status among your peers. Its also hard to get your head around unless you're quite familiar with the inner workings of OS's and computers in general. I ended up getting frustrated with the inability to really 'do' anything with it like play games and gave up. Mind you it was better at matching drivers to devices than Windows 98, I find with the stability of the current version of Windows XP it's not really necessary unless you've got a specific function for your box such as firewalling. Thats only coming from a home user though. I've included a snapshot of typical users of Windoze, Mac OS, and Linux.
  18. Oh very interesting to hear, I've not heard of any engine builders around here using that method, especially with synthetic and not a mineral oil, I wasn't sure if it was a tried and true thing or one of those things that was done by one or two people and then argued on the forum as an opinion point! Fair enough to go on what your builder says, most of my mates use EDGE and i've seen an RB30 with just under 500 000km unopened, with Castrol synthetics used nearly its entire life (mind you thats also a motor which wasn't thrashed). Thought that it may have had a detrimental effect when the car's being driven to its potential, due to breakdown of stabilising additives in the oil (due to it apparently being a hydrocrack derivative and not a 'true', synthetic.
  19. Interesting that you guys use both a 10w60 oil and Castrol EDGE, due to the bollocking it gets in the oil thread, thats the same grade a mate runs in his NEO as 'summer oil' lol, why not 5w30 especially on a new motor? Interesting reading about the whole breaking in procedure, I'd love to see some concrete results about that 'break in' method.
  20. yeah most can appreciate the corniness, but you'd never say it was a well made franchise lol, or anything other than mindless entertainment. I think that they should have used a VL for the hero car though, just like in real life
  21. lol that could be awesome, espeically with the amount of bogans who go on and holden/ford forums
  22. haha well then good luck with that, it did occur to me that perhaps a GT-T might have been a slightly easier starting point, but you sound like you're pretty keen!
  23. don't you need to change brakes, suspension, diff etc etc? I'm not comepletely sure on how much different the non turbo R34 is, but on the earlier models they were also 4 stud etc etc, you obviously know this will be an extremely expensive and time consuming excercise, I'd just get a GT-R lol.
  24. I dunno it seems kinda silly to cut corners there when a shitty one could potentially wreck a $3000+ engine build. I'd be cutting corners more on say the intercooler and exhaust than something which is regulating boost pressure.
