Yeah I should have mentioned DON'T get a Microtech at least if you want working 4WD, mine's been an absolute nightmare to try and get working so far.

Whats The Difference Between The Best Oils
bozodos replied to =premo='s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I use the 5w40 Motul in mine, seemed to make the turbo spool quicker than the 5w30 Castrol EDGE i was using, this was after a lengthy read of the oil thread and trying to get something at least similar in viscosity to the 7.5w30 nissan oil. -
How Would You Build An Import Cruiser?
bozodos replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
C33 Laurel with some dished to the max rims, stock interior and soft coilover, or a Toyota Celsior. -
never happen mate At the end of the day, these cars aren't really losing shitloads of value - its not like he's going to go and buy say a VY SS for $30k which by next year will be worth $20k. At least he's not planning on borrowing 10k for mods or something! IMO asking for financial advice on an internet forum, especially a car one is going to cause quite a lively discussion, which it has lol.

apart from all the headf**ks putting them into an earlier model car (It might be a tad easier on a R32 but I've seen it done twice on HR31's and both times, the actual fitting of the motor was fine, but getting it all up and running was a long and drawn out process)

I don't know anyone who bought their first decent car with cash! I got a loan for my first car (VN SS) which will be paid off this year. I bought it for $4900 and sold it for $3500, a good price for 3 years ownership, most of this went back on the loan. I also got a 14k loan for my GTS-4, now some of you may think that insane, especially on apprentice wages, but this was factoring into account maintenence (hence not buying a GT-R, or getting a 20+k car like some fools around here my age are planning on doing). Its not killing me while I'm living with the parents, and I intend to rapidly pay it off once I am qualified in my trade and making decent cash. I can live and do most of the things I want to do, however I can't just yet go out and go crazy with modifications, but there's a tradeoff to everything. Most of the younger people I've seen go out and get houses instead of cars are those who are living the hand to mouth existence, with no social life and no decent car because they are spending $300 + per week on a house. I personally can't see the point of living like that. When i bought the Skyline, I figured that the amount of joy it would and has brung me, well thats worth the (to some) insane expense of spending the amount I did for another 1989 model car. Sure i'll probably have to wait longer to travel and whatnot, but i don't think any of us would be on here if we didn't have that kind of mindset about cars. The only person I've seen who has made this work was a mate who bought an older house in one of the smaller towns around here and has renovated it all himself, and put a shed up, and also does most of his own car work, so therefore both keeping his expenditures down, while making his house appreciated in value by improving it.

The New Fast And Furious Movie!
bozodos replied to Mattikin1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
so you're coming from a position of ignorance, and admitted it then? If you can't watch a Fast and the Furious movie and laugh, you're taking life way too seriously! -
Microtech dash tells me between 84 (winter) to 88 on a 47 degree day with a bit of spirited driving, it seems to hit up to 92 when the car's parked with the motor running for an extended period, but thats the highest I've seen it go, and thats with a leaking water pump! Quite impressed with it given that it's a JDM car with a small radiator being in often very hot conditions here

n12 pulsar FTW (for 2k you could even maybe possibly find a rough turbo one) I had some awesome times in my 300 dollar special, ended up junking it when the alternator died though (not viable to buy a new one lol)

The New Fast And Furious Movie!
bozodos replied to Mattikin1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Protip: F&F appeals to the American view of JDM and 'tuner' stylings, and also the typical American over the top everything. Notice the amount of product placement as well? On a side note, a mint R32 RB25 got smashed into a tree here on the weekend doing some D1 action, the f'wit driver tried to say that the throttle stuck open ha ha ha. Luckily nobody got hurt, and i'm really hoping some nice parts come out of it, but I think its fair to say that these movies result in people trying to do this stuff on the street. -
Just attempted connecting TPS output from original loom to Microtech TPS Signal wires, STILL no luck! can anyone PLEASE help me on this one - there must be at least one GT-R out there with both a working Microtech and ATTESSA system!

Well i'd prefer here to Robinvale, but yeah Bendigo would be doable if a few of us went, might have to look into that!

Fast And Furious Movie Will Have A Blue R34 Gtr
bozodos replied to Kujotk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
OH yes for 3 months after, our local cruising spots were also filled with people playing the soundtrack at ear bleeding levels! -
Fast And Furious Movie Will Have A Blue R34 Gtr
bozodos replied to Kujotk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
HAHA after Tokyo Drift there were idiots in VR's with tha chopped springs mate trying to powerslide everywhere - drifting in itself was pretty unknown here until that movie came out. God knows what sort of driving the next one will provoke. I REALLY hope it dosen't mean that there will be even more morons buying Skylines who otherwise would have stuck to VL Turbo's or XR8s. I do hope that the writers of the movie can continue to create such thought provoking and utterly quoteable dialogue though! -
Mystery Switch... Need More Help Solving Please
bozodos replied to Phatboy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha I had a switch just like this in my old SS, the urge to press it got the better of me one day, and I managed to turn the alarm off, and neither I nor a mechanic could work out how to turn it on again. Lucky that in your case it didn't appear to do anything! -
yeah pity most from around here only go on Calais Turbo, NS or R31 forums, I'd go on a club cruise (and join) if it weren't for the fact that I'm 400km away from a capital city.

Fast And Furious Movie Will Have A Blue R34 Gtr
bozodos replied to Kujotk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Pity its not an R32 eh eh? (oh hang on that probably means that more wankers will stick to buying R34's after they watch the movie phew ) F&F are some of vin and paul walker's truly finest comedies, they really capture the essence of the car action movie satire that is obvious from the writing, however they seem to be more about American "tuner" styling than true JDM. But I guess thats what sells dvds! That said I'll probably still go to the premiere lol -
Wouldn't be a bad idea, but I have NFI how I'd go about contacting the Skyline owners around here apart from my mates.

I've not seen anyone have any problems with an R32 GTS-T that any other car that age hasn't had, probably less so than a lot of the commodores / falcons getting around of that age. A GT-R would likely be a different story though. I've also found when buying thats that cheap , reliable and modified are three mutually exclusive terms.

If i were to go another cat I'd definitely go metal cat purely cause I'm sick of normal and high flow cars blocking up (had this happen on both cars of mine). The ceramic high flows all seem to be much of a muchance - they all look quite similar as well!

well after several hours of digging around in the archives, I found this quote from TO4GTR in another ATTESSA thread regarding a Microtech. "yes after many headsrcatching sessions. hears what it was all about. tps adjustment to get .4volts hooking up the attessa throttle wire to the microtech throttle signal. unplugging the f**king air bleed conector" the TPS wires mentioned in the Microtech manual are grey and brown, and on the wiring diagram, it has TPS 5v and TPS Sig pinouts, though I'm not 100% on which to use, im guessing TPS Signal to TPS output on the original loom.
-
ok well after Googling this problem, and coming back to a similar archived thread on here, I decided to link the throttle opening output and throttle sensor output signals together to try and get the TPS voltage to the ATTESA computer - when turned on, the light went out for one second and came back on. Do I still need this buffer circuit as well, or should I try a diagnosis on the entire system in case there's something else wrong?

My TE37's (why dont you get some of those "cool" shiny rims that Bob Jane sell and git rid of those ugly ones? argh!) The fact that its not the easiest car for a girl on the bigger size to get in and out of. The amount of time spent stuffing around with mechanical bits on it, usually on 40+ degree days. The endless arguments with mates over such boring (for her) topics such as HR31 vs HNR32, RB25DET vs NEO, suspension setups, turbos, boost controllers, gauges etc. The fact that I won't blink over spending hundreds of dollars at a time on it but won't buy her presents. The fact that it's not an A31 Cefiro. My refusal to park it in shopping centre carparks, or outside the cinema. The fact that I insist on handwashing it, scrubbing the wheels with a toothbrush then polishing the car when she wants to go somewhere quickly.
-
haha oh when i took my Turbosmart one off for a RWC and replaced what I think is a GTS-T one, it makes a funny whistle over ~10psi and refuses to really build much more boost. AI'looking at either going for a GT-R one and drilling a hole in the intake pipe or just putting a blanking plate over the spot for it on the crossover pipe (mainly due to the fact that the atmo one was the sole reason I got given a defect for).

Gts-4 Dash Cluster Into Gtr
bozodos replied to JiN_MaN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
should do, I know for a fact that the speedor sender cable is the same at least.
