All trolling aside, if you guys want to read a serious discussion on the reletive merits of mounting one's number plate to the side I can refer you to http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.p...+plate+mounting , it has the CT think tank weighing up advantages to disadvantages, something I'm sure the OP as well as the admins can appreciate. It is my sincere hope that this post does not serve to inflame the vengeful wrath of the moderators.

I'll take notice when there's some hard evidence about this, I use a Ryco oil filter, and my pressure light goes off straight away, and pressure always reflects whether its a hot day, car's warm etc. Same diff using Castrol EDGE 5w30 or Motul 8100 Xcess.

HAHA f**k me, didn't think anyone actually did that to Skylines! You sir, are a prince among men! p.s you'd never catch me doing this lol

Interesting concept, I've seen the same sort of harassment for a mate who was the unlucky first to be impounded in NSW (second offence, first was in VIC), he got defected 4 times for ride height in his VT when we'd go for a drive with him, this kept up for approximately a year.

FYI i thought my KKR480 was an utter piece of shit until I recently inspected the exhaust, finding a severe blockage in it. I then unblocked it, and ever since it's been boosting <3000rpm and hitting full boost at around 4000. That is with a tune though. So in short, they aren't complete shit, but I still wouldn't buy another.

Well I don't know about black flags and such, the cops here know me as 'mr no mufflers' lol. I only get dicked when i've got a headlight out, and they then decide to do me for everything under the sun (always interstate cops mind you).

Skyline Drivers Losers?
bozodos replied to nickandsarah_83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I noticed that there was actually a shitload of advertising for Ray's Engineering in the last one FYI F&F movies are some of paul walker's best comedies pic related -
nah go a NEO over a 26, quite a lot cheaper - bit of stuffing around, but from what I've seen very well worth it! Of course you'd need at least R32 Type M brakes, 5 stud, and some decent suspension! Oh and a surge tank in the boot too - my mates have had to fit them in theirs, something to do with the fuel pickup in the tank I believe.

What You Hate About Your Skyline Thread
bozodos replied to jakez88's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If any of you have problems parking or turning in an R32, I think it's because you need driving lessons - mine is the easiest car to maneouver around a parking lot or do a tight U turn in, and with a front bar which slants inwards instead of out, makes it pretty easy to judge how far to move in to a parking space - the nose is the furthest pointing part of the car! My major annoyances are : the seatbelt getting twisted, having a GT-R front bumper which scrapes only on stupidly angled driveways into service stations, shithouse low beam headlights (even with HID's), 4WD not working with an aftermarket computer connected and probably the fact mine is a 4 seater (but hey its not designed to be a taxi is it) I would agree with cramped engine bay to fiddle with anything, but I've found the VN is worse, especially with the ignition system, and location of the oil filter. I do wish the bonnet had gas struts or opened higher to save my back though! -
For reasons described above, thats why I went a GTS-4 rather than GT-R as my first import, I don't think i'll even consider buying one until I've got 10k or so lying around for potential engine rebuild / other major work which needs undertaking.

Cutting Springs On R33?
bozodos replied to D33J's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
this is the second thread in a couple of months about cutting springs on an R33. I wish these kind of people weren't able to own Skylines. -
I like them too, nice seats especially, but I'm not mechanically minded enough to do all the stuff that really needs changing on them, and they are a tad too 80's for me, I'd prefer an A31 to an R31
-
I own one, if you're that desperate i could take a pic of the build plate? lol. Wiki it even.

R32 has double wishbone suspension, and a whole lot of other minor differences, I can't really recall what exactly, which make life so much easier when it comes to modding - with the HR31 you're looking at say 5 stud conversion unless you buy one with it, then all of the suspension components are harder to find or you'll find yourself swapping parts out ie brakes for R32 ones anyway, pretty much any aftermarket HR31 specific gear which isn't already in Aus you'll have to get through R31 House in Japan (extremely expensive). My best mate has a HR31 GTS which is currently undergoing a RB25NEO engine swap, now due to having to get about a million different bits and pieces, its taken a year and counting (not to mention the ongoing cost of the car is $10 000 and going up including purchase price, with no labour costs on there). He's obsessive compulsive about owning a 31 though, personally I wouldn't have the patience to wait an extended period like that, when at the end of the day it still has to get an engineer's certificate anway. I guess if you're keen and either have lots of money or are mechanically minded it might not be so bad, all my mates with HR31's do all their own mechanical work, most of the problems seem to come down to 4 stud and suspensions. You could probably get a better answer on the R31 forum though, most of the people on there are pretty helpful. P.S In fairness though, the HR's have some unique nifty optional features like fans on the parcel shelf to filter out cigarette smoke, rain sensing wipers (mine aren't, not sure about other model skylines), GT Auto Spoilers, and in cabin suspension dampener settings (for standard suspension)

I've got a CRD tuned Microtech (previous owner's choice not mine) and it overfuels like a pig - even with splitfires, if I don't change my plugs religiously every 5000km it starts missing due to carbon fouling. There was another thread about plugs at one point - the consensus was if you've got a reletively stock car Iridiums can be a good choice (the set in my VN have done 80 000km and 3 years fine) but if you're running higher boost then they will degrade quickly, as will coppers, but they are a lot cheaper.
-
Servicing a Skyline is easier than a commodore even IMO (unless you've got an RB20 - have fun getting your oil filter off lol) Theres a fair few hoses etc to take off when doing the plugs, as long as you remember where everything goes you'll be right!
-
If there's one in Bendigo too, it could be the same one I see up here from time to time. Chances are if I dig around enough i can find someone who knows the owner - I wouldn't mind having a closer look at it!
-
Get the R33. Autos of any form are only good for daily drivers. P.S I HATE poor spelling/grammar, it makes things that much harder to decipher, i'm glad that this forum is generally pretty good with it.

Don't Leave Aerosols Inside!
bozodos replied to NeboRdChick's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i had a lighter explode in mine the other week sitting in the coin holder behind the gearstick - shards of plastic went EVERYWHERE but no damage thank god. I should probably move the tyre shine from the back seat too come to think of it! -
I thought that 100 octane fuel just didnt have enough appeal to the wider market, hence Shell dumped it.
-
Just changed mine to Motul 8100 Xcess 5w40, car seems to be a bit more responsive (though I also went from heat range 6 plugs back to 7), couldn't manage to get any Martini oil from the useless distributor here, so I'll be sticking with the Motul.

Skyline Drivers Losers?
bozodos replied to nickandsarah_83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I read the thread title again, then the last three posts, 'nuff said -
This happens to me, but ONLY when i drive at 110 not 100 and only after driving on the highway for over an hour (I drive half an hour on highway to get between my home and town every day.) I've got a HICAS lockout bar and stock steering wheel, but the car does need a wheel alignment, so possibly that could be the cause.
-
OP, it's not the only one in Australia, there is a silver one floating around here from time to time (pretty sure it is a GT-T).
-
maybe I should bake my car a cake (12/89 build date) I should take a pic of my 89 SS and my 89 GTS-4 together, the differences are amazing, especially going from driving one to the other. I doubt Nissan would do anything officially for it, but I could be wrong! I suppose it is the 20 years since the resurrection of the GT-R name too.
