  1. Could someone please post a pic of what we're talking about? Same problem here, (that and in diagnostic mode it always thinks it's -23 outside :S), I pulled the glovebox out, but was a little unsure of what to do next!
  2. Weren't all those ECU's mapped on the premise of not only having car specific mods, but say an actual part number? And then you sent them back to Mine's, Impul etc to get them adjusted accordingly for more mods? Having said that, a mate runs an Impul ECU on a bog stock RB20 with FMIC and 3.5" exhaust, and it goes so well for a stock RB20 we almost thought it had to have cams in it! Also dosen't detonate on 98 RON fuel.
  3. Bit curious on this one myself, I'd read some conflicting reports around here, though ancedotally, everyone IRL I've spoken to about Redline Shockproof Lightweight reckons it's brilliant on boxes where it's just a synchro or two starting to grind.
  4. I read this thread and thought "rock climbing!"! Cool idea, so I'm guessing that this type of adaptation has already been done on Patrols before?
  5. Umm could you please elaborate that statement Terry, all I'm getting is images of lesbian kisses and driving a car off a cliff here :S
  6. datsun 1200 ute Girlfriend just bought one (not her first car, but I refuse to travel in a VW Beetle!), with extractors and tune for PULP, great fun to drive, $30 lasts you over 200km of giving it a fair bit of stick, hard to do anything illegal in (though it feels like 60 is a lot faster lol), and you can chuck a bigger or better motor in there quite easily.
  7. LOL is all I can say. had the same problem, I'm betting it will be exh manifold gasket, possibly missing a chunk like mine was, and you're either on too many or not enough drugs if you think WD40 will in any way fix it. Just chin up and go and get a Nissan one (they sell the bolts too, though mine is missing one, and dosen't leak.) It won't break anything to drive it like that btw, it will just sound gay. And the vagina is always in the front passenger seat
  8. Having driven a 2000 Magna, they are pretty much the opposite of a Skyline in terms of handling. Oh and yeah fuel consumption is pretty shocking in Skylines. Mine uses around 18L/100 (modded and too rich a tune), regardless of thrashing or not, which was about the same as the 5 litre SS I had before it (and yeah those dash computers LIE unless you reset them every couple of months.)
  9. Yeah you're dead right they were shit, thanks to crappy lights I collected a roo doing 100km/h once
  10. You mustn't be looking very hard then
  11. Theres about a million non turbo Supra's around here, and not a single one, they aren't exactly a powerhouse, and the looks, yuk! I always thought it was the motor (2JZ-GTE) which sold Supra's not the horrible shape. Why bother with an N/A Skyline which is really clown shoes for a real turbo one, I guarantee if you went that route, you'd end up wishing you'd waited and got a turbo one, they are slower than a VN, and would you really bother trying to upgrade 4 stud hubs so you can get decent rims, or really throw any money on it, when you'd probably end up selling it for next to nothing, or parting it out. I think the Euro idea such as a BMW would be a more viable alternative, and less of a cop magnet. The E36 318iS which I drove handled great and braked great for what I was expecting (auto and didnt go overly fast, but it genuinely was fun to drive) Or why not buy a late model Commodore V6, which is going to be a whole lot faster and newer anyway.

    Hi Guys

Yeah don't rush it, I did, and its been a bit of a pain in the arse. I've also been really lucky to either be able to DIY or have mates help me with most maintenence stuff as well. Otherwise I probably would have sold mine by now.
  13. Gee, every time I've been defected in VIC (live in NSW though), it's just a matter of getting a RWC for $45, then going to both the RTA and VicRoads, and having them argue over the fone at each other as to who can clear it cause it's not on the other's computer system yada yada yada. I have noticed WAY more blatant revenue raising and bullshit defecting courtesy of VIC police vs NSW. I also had the situation once where a sixpack holder being dragged along by the collector pipe on the extractors was the excuse for a cop to say too low, the handbrake clicking bs etc. When I got defected in my R32, i got told to 'stuff chicken wire up the exhaust i dont care just shut it up to get it cleared' (decat, no mufflers), but the atmo BOV HAD to go, TOTALLY against emissions laws. So I sold it. I'd go to the supervisor at the station or failing that, the Ombudsman. Generally speaking if you're not on your P's they won't pick on you for no reason (except for TMU), at least around here.
  14. Well RB20DET (not a great deal of power, needs to be revved to make power, not very torquey) + extra weight + auto = not the fastest thing out. Test drive it, then test drive a manual, even a GTS-T. Slow compared to another Skyline (non turbo aside).
  15. Headlight tinting is for the gays - I even pulled out my ghey HID's for standard globes, cause you can see fk all with projector headlights! Who'd want to make it worse?!
  16. I always wondered about these and those 'magical' fuel catalysts that you fit in your fuel line for "increased economy" lol.
  17. Redbook tends to put (sometimes rather unrealistically) rather low values on most cars, but auto Skylines are generally worth a lot less than the manual ones. I imagine an auto GTS-T or GTS-4 w/ RB20 would also be extremely slow, hence making them cheaper.
  18. Try www.redbook.com.au first, you'll have to get a price for a GTS-T because they don't have a listing for a GTS-4, but there's usually a bit more of a premium on them.
  19. I had my best mate ring me at 10am that day asking me if I knew about it, and WTF was going on etc etc. Hilarious.
  20. The same thing could be said about a lot of muscle and hot rod car owners though.
  21. Lol. I always put in 5 litres with a 4wd sump? Reminds me of when I first changed the oil on my old 5 litre, and got oil all over the fuel rails, intake manifold and extractors, then turned the car off to 'burn it off'. I didnt start a fire in the engine bay luckily.
  22. Yeah I've noticed in the past week 5 new R33's last week here alone, several being driven by f**kwits who race up and down one of the 4 lane streets all night. One led the cops on a high speed chase over the river last week, and a couple of months ago, a wanker I knew in a R32 totaled it and nearly killed his girlfriend trying to drift on a public road. Not to hate on R33's unneccessarily, but they are the cheapest model to buy. As one former VL driver told me, why bother with a VLT when an R33 is just as easy, costs similar money and has heaps of parts around? Kinda hard to seperate the enthusiasts from the hoons when for the average person it's hard to differenciate between the two. (Tasteless mods aside lol) It's all well and good to say oh we should band together and unite under the club thing, but for those of us in rural areas, it's not viable is it? Unless there were a local chapter of the club. Someone should try and get onto something like the 7.30 report to see if they would entertain the idea of even doing an article about import car enthusiasts in general, not just Skylines.
  23. TT and ACA are two of the most brilliantly satirical programs on TV, right up there with Fox (Faux) News. If you think you've any hope out of talking reason into them, you may as well give up now. These shows are targeted at people who read the Herald Sun. Their fair and unbalanced reporting style, such as ambushing a target on their daily routine by shoving a camera into their face is well loved and emulated around the world. As well as using stock footage from the USA and Japan on their 3 monthly 'hoon' stories, (or any other 'issue of the moment), They don't deal in cold, hard facts or any sort of journalistic or ethical integrity. Look how they strip mine every disastarous world event, and constantly quote dubious or 'anonymous' sources. What I'm trying to get at though, is that you've little chance of getting either one to do a fair report on us, most likely they would do some interviews, then cut and edit to make us look even worse than now. You all should know full well that no matter whether you drive an R34 V-Spec 2 or a shitty old aussie R31, we're going to get lumped in with the chopped springs and stockies crowd by these narrow minded programs.
