Challenges involed installing turbo back exhaust??
46n2 replied to nmcmahon83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
a hoist will make life easier. I did mine with the help of a friend with a hoist, and it took half a day (it should have been much simpler). The stock brackets that hold up the exhaust near the cat on a 32 were too small, and as the 3" has a larger ext. diameter (obviously) they wouldn't fit, and needed to be attacked with a grinder. the pain of trial and error until we got it right... Also agree go out and get some real gaskets -
heh too true and even funnier, i'm at work
-
so i've spent some time with an advanced image ceation tool (mspaint ), and drawn up some pics. Firstly, is this how the setup is before it is modified (i'm going from memory here)?... And secondly, is this where you've joined the hose (ie - hicas pump removed completely)? Michael
-
Hey SK, how have you got this all plumbed up? Have you removed the HICAS pump, and are the lines running from the Pwr str pump -> cooler -> reserviour(bypassing the hicas pump completely)? I'm having a look at mine at the moment, and can't decide what the easiest way to connect the line from the pump to the cooler is  have you used the standard line that runs past the sump to run fluid to the cooler? or put a new line in? Any help appreciated

If I had the cash right away I'd be there with bells on :uh-huh: but i think it'll be at least a few months before I get my GTR hat on

will trade for GTR Parts hahaha if everyone donates something (a caliper, a radiator, an engine, etc ) I should be able to build a GTR by 2010 :wizard: but seriously, I'm going to make 2 or 3 types. 1- Stick-on ones for maybe 50-60ish (to be confirmed) - these will just cover the face, an dif someone was so inclined may be able to be ripped off 2 - Stick on that are a bit bigger and will be hard to steal because of the way it is moulded around the headlight, 3 - And the 3rd type which will bolt at the back, and can be stuck at the front (so they don't rattle around and are a bit more secure This is the type i have made and basically ready to be painted. As per one of my previous posts, i tried to "steal" the 3rd type from my car with the bonnet closed and it was impossible. Also I couldn't get enough leverage to break or snap them off because they are moulded so closely to the headlight If no-one wants the cheapies then please let me know and i'll focus my efforts on what you all want Even better if you could email me which type you'd prefer @ Midnite_Garage at hotmail dot com it will be easier for me to keep track of what people want. I'll let you know set prices for type 2 and 3 sometime next week when i have pics. Michael

Removing Radiator from 32GTST - Air con piping??
46n2 replied to 46n2's topic in General Maintenance
yeah that's exactly what i was confusing it with  At a glance it all looked like one part, i pulled my radiator out last week (unclipped the lower part of the shroud, removed the hoses and upper mounts) and had no hassles What's gone wrong with your radiator? leaking? -
heehee it looks like a Hyandai
-
no probs. I'll put some stick-on's together tonight, and it'll take a few evenings to sand them back - neighbours aren't friendly to power tools at night

I trial fitted the eyelids to the car last night after trimming them, I need to shave a little off the face of the pass side one to even things up. They fit and the bonnet closes normally. The little black rubber things on the bonnet were originally hitting the eyelids but I trimmed it (edit: by "it" i mean the eyelids, not the black things) back and now fits with no issues Also tried to "steal" them with the bonnet closed and they weren't going anywhere All that's left to do is: *sand the pass side eyelid *make brackets to fit *paint Once i have this set completely finished I'll put a post in the F/S section To give me an idea of demand, please PM me or post here and let me know what you guys want: *stick-on (will just cover the top & face of the headlight), or *bolt in (covers face and entire top of headlight) Michael

Questions for '89-'90 Model GTR Owners
46n2 replied to 46n2's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
This thread's great...gives you a more realistic picture of how much a 15 y/o import REALLY costs Keep it coming guys. Thanks Michael -
haha yeah i second that motion...i read that you blew a piston and first glance i though it was roy
-
Hi guys, I'm looking at trading up, and was wondering how much extra you guys have had to spend on top of the purchase price to get your 15+ y/o GTR to a decent standard. I am looking for an idea of: *How long have you had your GTR for *what has gone wrong since you've owned it *What surprises have you had (good and bad) since purchase? *what's the condition of the engine (at your best guess)? What's the most I should spend on an older GTR, or am i best off spending a bit more and getting a later model R (ie 92-3). Thanks in advance Michael

** HKS Super Power Flow Pod Filter (Mushroom) **
46n2 replied to 46n2's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
sorry mate offer is too low for me -
hey guys, I should have my set sanded this w/e. haven't had much time this last week with changing jobs n all, and i've been crook which doesn't help matters any. Let me know which type you guys would prefer...if you want ones that just stick on, i can put them together pretty quickly, and it will only use half as much fibreglass, so i can sell them cheaper If anyone wants the stick on type, i should be able to put a set together this weekend (unless I keel over from being sick ). Once i have my bolt on set trimmed to fit, i'll see how they go with the bonnet...but i can't see there being any issues. They will bolt on at the back, and I'll probably be sticking them at the front so thieving little s**ts can't get their fingers up underneath to rip them off. **PM** me with what you guys are expecting to pay, and i'll try and work my price around that I'll also work out how much i'll need to charge to cover my costs
-
heaps of progress this weekend. I went back to the drawing board and started again..ended up with a better result. All that's left is finishing (sanding back etc) and i'll have the first set to show off The car is in a few pieces for another cause, so i took a pic with the h/l out

Very nice work what's involved with plastic welding? i'm guessing (as a simplified version) that the 2 pieces are heated and joined?

Removing Radiator from 32GTST - Air con piping??
46n2 replied to 46n2's topic in General Maintenance
thanks lads...I'll have a look at mine tonight, but to be honest i don't know what they've done. Pulling a radiator out should be a simple thing, but doesn't seem so here  I'll get some some pics up 2 nite. thanks for your comments.
