  1. Love that little dig Congrats on the wedding Stephen.
  2. Make sure you stick the new badges on in exactly the right spots (i.e. rear badge) Chris! It bugs me when I see badges in the wrong spot (even a few cm out) - not sure if some owners even notice but with a GT-R it should look perfect!
  3. Two things to add; 1. Postcode makes a HUGE difference, particularly in Sydney. I had the Shannons rep on the phone telling me that my quote would be over $1,000 cheaper if the car were stored at my parents' place in the Mountains as opposed to the Inner South West, as they've "had a lot of stuff go missing from your postcode; not just damaged or vandalised; *go missing*". 2. The magic age used to be 25 when the age excess would 'disappear' and you would theoretically pay the same as your 50 y.o. dad, but I was told (again by the Shannons rep) that premiums continue to be higher even once you're over 25. The age threshold that is used to determine the sliding scale increase, also continues to increase itself; i.e. you're not paying "regular" prices until you're well into your late 20s or even early thirties. Both of these factors will then also differ by each company's internal policy. It definitely pays to shop around! I'm with Lumley Special Vehicles (underwritten by Wesfarmers). When I originally called them last December, they'd only just started up and were keen for new business (to compete with Shannons). Not sure if that's still the case; but they're definitely worth a shot particularly if they're still trying to steal market share.
  4. Yeah mate, basically. It just seems to me that one's working sets are going to be 6-10 reps generally. Maybe less than that on occasions where you want to go super heavy on a compound movement like Nick said. But generally 6-10. If your 1RM were to go up, then so should the weight you use for 6-10, so; if you've never done a 1RM but your weights are progressing at 6-10 reps then I'd be satisfied that my strength is increasing and so should my theoretical 1RM... But I understand the importance of a 1RM figure in calculating weight that should be used for a working set in some plans, or as a benchmark.
  5. Hey Tom no lol at all - Dave is setting up to do retrofits to your existing R34 tails if you want the Nismo-style LEDs. I believe all you do is provide your old tails and you get them back with all the LEDs and requisite control units etc; for a fee
  6. Both of these work out about right for me. Haven't been doing the deadlift for as long as the others. Sitting at a desk all day has made my hip flexors and hamstrings very tight as well, which doesn't help with DLing! And I agree about 1RM calculators; they are not bad as a guide only; that's why I initially queried the notion of a "1,000 club" and if it was based on calculated 1RM. Would love to give some 1RMs a shot but the numbers would just end up tucked away as a reference point to give me perspective after that; they wouldn't have much relevance to my day to day lifting. For the guys (often on BB.com etc) that quote the 1RMs and the like in their signatures and go on about their claims in the forums, unless those figures were achieved in a comp I think it tells a lot about their mindset towards training. For the rest of us I think that those benchmarks are "nice to haves" but what is more important is competing with ourselves, breaking PBs, looking/feeling good to ourselves and significant others. The opinions or, "awe" even, of fellow forum members is unimportant.
  7. Powerlifters look bloody impressive when they cut up. Although I think they don't actually like being in that state and prefer to not have to restrict calories so they can get back to lifting maximum poundage
  8. Dezz I believe it's supposed to be 1000lb, so 151kg = 332.2lb x 3 = ~1000. Never really tried 1RMs myself. Don't often train with a spotter (which I would consider essential if doing an actual 1RM) so I wouldn't know for sure. I have done 110kg BP using a smith (current gym has no free BP... yeah, I know) for a couple of reps; 180kg DL (3 sets of 5 reps); and 130kg squat for 5 reps. That would equate to 242 + 396 + 286 = 924, and that's not 1RMs. While I'm reasonably happy with those numbers (for me), I don't think that's all that impressive to be honest, so a "1,000 club" doesn't sound all that impressive to me at all, given there would be heaps of guys at my gym that'd smash my numbers and mine aren't even 1RMs. When you mentioned it Birds that is the first time I'd heard of it. It is an interesting way of trying to quantify and summarise one's strength though. I bet a lot of people (esp. on Internet) claim to be a part of this "club" as well regardless of their form... Using that 1RM calculator , mine would be 249 + 445 + 322 = 1,016. My BP in particular I'm particularly modest about. I want this to be at least 130kg / 286lb like a lot of the footy players that are my size (5'9, 82kg / 180lb) can lift. A put a lot of this down to my technique. I have also been told that because Smith restricts natural movement somewhat, one should be able to lift a little more with a free bar BP. But I take that with a grain of salt. Cheers, Matt
  9. This is based on 1RMs for each right? Is it assumed that one uses a 1RM calculator like the Brzycki equation, or must you have actually lifted the weight?
  10. Nah don't get me wrong I didn't have a problem with it. It's just the nature of the Net, that stuff can end up anywhere!
  11. Wow that options sheet is interesting - so many options I never even knew Jap cars could have back then in the mid 90s, like auto dimming interior mirrors and front / rear PDC (parking radar). You'd usually expect this stuff on a lot of Euro cars. Looks like you scored on finding the answer to your first switch! Although I never really understood parking aids such as these retractible poles, those coiled/sprung wire bits stuck to the lower corners of the car, or those rubber bump strips that people stick onto their bumpers. In almost every case, these parking aids look even more noticeable than if you actually hit something with your bumper at low speed, and almost as ugly. Although as yours was a genuine factory / dealer option it gives it some definite novelty value!
  12. That you are, Eddie. There was no way that egg was going to end up in just one spot, it was going everywhere! Yeah Pat it's pretty clunky hey. It's possible to set your albums or certain photos to prohibit downloading on Flickr (in the rights management settings), so if that's the case then you won't be able to copy them; but you can still always use your Print Screen key Not that I would advocate the blanket copying of other people's work, especially not for redistribution - those pics you copy should only be used for personal/private use and viewing as I'm sure you do. Having said that, I've noticed one or two of my photos have ended up on FB pretty easily and I had no idea they were there until someone tagged me or linked me to them. At least my signature was still on the pics.
  13. Not sure about Picasa, but sometimes photos uploaded with Photobucket can't be seen by everyone - it just displays "Posted image". It does this sometimes with flickr as well, but not as often. That's why photographers use Flickr mate, so their work can't be nicked as easily. I say "as easily" because you can still right click > "save as" on people's photos, you just have to click to expand and then click "all sizes". You've posted some pretty decent pics in the photography section
  14. It's great listening to Fred talking about the old Bluebird again
  15. For the BP, don't forget that a proper arch in the back (almost trying to pinch your shoulder blades together, and abs tight) and driving off the floor with your heels will help.
  16. Ok then mate Shame on you. Shame Shame Shame.
  17. Or Flickr, Patty. Would have thought youd have a flickr account anyway with the photos youve posted in the photography section?
  18. The LEDs look incredible mate. Indistinguishable from the stock parts. Love the carbon mirrors!
  19. Great write up Pat. Loved defendant #1; "pro driver doing a 15 sec burnout in an ex drag car cos he wasnt used to it" - hilarious defence! 15 sec is an eternity for a burnout on the street! And agree with others on #11. If ambo was going thru the intersection, I wonder what the fine is for obstructing an emergency vehicle? Not to mention it being on your conscience for delaying someone's medical treatment.
  20. Yeah I guess the slight irony is that with the N1s designed to go to race teams there would be livery (vinyls, stickers, etc) commonly applied to the body, adding weight again. But the thinner paint (if it is in fact thinner) would help offset that... Back OT, Anthony, did Eugene advise you on what product you should use on the car now that it has a sealant applied, to maintain the finish; and how often? Cheers Matt
  21. That was bloody hilarious! Must've been something you said Eddie to upset him? He had it in for you! "Is so eesy!!!" while slapping you in the face with food!! To be fair, some of his 'throws' were a bit dodgy. I ended up with raw egg on my G star denims after it ricocheted off a nearby bowl.
  22. The colour code may be identical but it's the number of coats / depth of the coat on the N1 that's likely to be thinner. There were a whole bunch of weight saving measures on the BNR34 N1 some of which were very minute.
  23. Sound quality is perfect, and camera work is rock solid; particularly good seeing as Terry is holding it up wth just his arm the whole time, no tripod. I'd say it's worth travelling to pick up from Terry (the DVDs themselves are free!!), if only for Fred and Jim's stories; it also has quite a few of the cars arriving at Trackside so it's possible that your car/s will be in the vid too.
