gotta say, the 22 idea would have been heaps cooler! ...and only tossers own evos! -
33 - had a flat yesterday and who knows where the locking key has gone... vice grips to the rescue! rx7 - the dust is growing thicker by the day, but paul is now back from japan so hopefully we'll have an engine ready for it soon lancer - coming together, just need a clutch, some more white paint and time to keep swapping parts from shell to shell!

Deciding Whether Or Not To Build A Cheap Track Car
t01-100 replied to R33_Dude's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Having been there and done it I'd start with an R32 GTSt and go from there... its cheap to buy, cheap to fix and has as and heaps of bolt on parts to made modifying easy. The 31 chassis needs extra effort to make it as good as the 32 is without a cage, so why make it harder? That said 31s are retro cool but you'll just end up spending dead money changing brakes, hubs that you just don't need to change on a 32. I had the choice to start all over again down this road after a 200SX, then a GTSt and then a GTR, but whatever I picked had to have low on going costs and I stupidly went with an FD RX7! It’s not far off being finished and should be a top thing when the play day rolls around, but the spend will have been plenty more than I'd have planned to spend on a 32... in fact this thing has been an ongoing project for over two years now, if I'd got a 32 GTSt I'd have been racing for over two years already! -

the other thing, the shift required a very positive motion, you look at v8supercar on telly and the latest generation of the the same gearbox looks like it only needs a very light touch... but what would i know! -

it was v-cool, everycar needs motec dash, squential box, massive brakes, 18 x farking hugh tyres! only(!!) has 436kws but funny thing was its pretty much stripped aside form the dash and carbon blanking trim pieces but keeps the standard audiovox stereo fascia! the whole car is very different to his targa monaro cv8 i had for a week back in 2004. remember the year brock and richards both ran out of fuel on a stage. brock said the gauge still indicated 1/3 tank of fuel and i thought yeah right someone just cocked up... turned out he was right, 1/3 tank of fuel and the sucker ran out on me too in the middle of no where late one friday night... maybe on a targa stage! -

flat out workin on targa wrest point 24/7... haven't touched the rx7, evo or ps3 in nearly two months! on classic handicap the gtst has the same index as gavin james 944 s2 and he was a shoe in for second this year until i understand he put his medium front tyres on the rear and hard rears on the front.... classic outright would be tuff in the gtst again the 900kg / 370kw 911's and 1300kg / 350kw torana's. ps. might not have played with my toys of late, but did have a steer of the 24hr brock monaro today! -

With the bonnet to swap, I have the CF bonnet and want an alloy GTR one, sorry the above is a little confusing I think
-
got the rx7 back with the engine removed! (was going to do it myself but no time at the moment and need to get things cracking if its gonna make the start line next season!) will now strip the engine of all the crap on it and the gearbox then its off for freshening! the engine bay is pretty tidy, but will clean it up and repaint.

Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread

i remember how shiny the freshly painted front bumper of my gtr looked at rally burnie... just before before it was reshaped by dirt bank at savage river! strangely ironic really that the only part of the car i had resprayed in the weeks prior was the only bit damaged!... and that all the gtrs in the event went 4wding within 400m of each other! -
gravel + gtr = awesome rooster tails! weight would be the main reason i'd say.

WEAK... talk about priorities! -
fresh custom machined pulleys for the fd... i love stuff like this!
-
that is a seriously tuff s15. when i was thinking flat black there is apparently a clear flat that they put on over the top layer of black and it doesn't suffer finger prints etc so no need to repaint all the time. i only wanted to do it this way else it would look crap pretty quick i reackon as flat black dis-colours with uv light. marlin - you're a reo
-
gloss white rims and stickers against flat black would look hot i might try doing the spare bonnet i have on the evo... would go well with the a carbon roof
-
paint it flat black... bring out your inner bogun! if i could do a decent finish with a can i'd do the evo, just not sure if i could get it even enough.
-
flat/matt black is damn cool i reckon. was dead keen on doing the evo in flat black, but it turns out cheaper to do the shell gloss white so will press on with boring old white. you NEED to though benny... and just think, you can swap sponsors on the car with a bucket of water and some chalk!!
-
was that a spray can or compressor and spray gun job on the interior dane? i did mine (all the interior and cage) with a pressure pack (matched to factory code)...
