  1. Benson Motorsports have a two POV cameras (each with AASA approved roll cage mount lipstick camera) available for hire during Targa Tasmania this year for $175.00 (including GST) which is only $29 a day for access to a television quality product. The doco team will be only too happy to extract your 'huge moments' off the memory card as they love the picture of the POV for use in the doco and party DVD. Available for pick up from Launceston on Thursday prior to the event if you’re keen. As to chicanes... I remember being one of the presenters at the stakeholder meeting held in CAMS National HQ board room when we rolled out the proposed use of chicanes many many years ago... I vividly remember that not one person in the room said they wanted them, simply if it was a requirement going forward and if the choice was Targa or no Targa at some stage in the future then all would support the event's move to use chicanes... funny how times change and some now people want them again!... 911 Turbos were pretty quick back in the day with big turbos, huge intercoolers, carbon doors, plastic windows.....

  7. whoops on my part! didn't think for a second that lake mountain would even have a tour!
  8. yeah its a bit of fun and the roads are awesome to experience. the sti would be perfect for it.
  9. dane - email [email protected] i've been through stages behind the tour a couple of times and its not as lame as i thought it would be, particually in a nice comfy road car
  10. The point of difference between the event E85 and E85 from the other mainland suppliers is that the event supplied E85 is straight from CSR and is therefore a guaranteed fresh and consistent product, it’s a 98RON based blend (as per the V8 Supercars product) and importantly also has a corrosion inhibitor. The CSR E85 produced for V8s is Green, or Red for Targa. The $4.00 a litre E85 is delivered into the field with distribution managed by a licensed team for you to simply and safely pull-up next to, top up and take off. $2.35 p/l is an awesome price to get E85 at, particularly when you factor in Bass Straight freight, the fuelling, feeding drinking and accommodating of a service crew etc etc... the only drama in my mind is that if the E85 is that cheap and it was a retail price, it’s most likely a basic 91RON based blend, as the only suppliers in Victoria that I know who were talking to Targa entrants were offering green V8 Supercar 98RON based E85 at a discounted price of $2.50 a litre, and that was being offered for a limited time due to an oversupply in stock. As for the entrant at TWP that was fined, they weren't penalised for higher octane, they was simply penalised for using non-event E85. They’re E85 was clear, and if it were event E85 it would have been red. I don’t have data at hand to know if the clear product had the CSR standard 0.9 mg/l corrosion inhibitor or not. The penalty was $500.00, or an end E85 price of $4.85 based on Bergz’s figure for that team... or it could have simply been ordered without the infield delivery service which obviously makes it cheaper
  11. savman - connector on the fuel pump relay loosened up on dave ayers' 33... btw: how tough does his car look with the bronze rims! the supperleggera r is an australian model produced from all genuine lamborghini parts with 120 pages of lamborghini documentation... think rx8 sp. rexdan - penned in whitfield road for thc back in december!... love the bit where you drive at the sky with the cliff face and power lines, that section is just as awesome in coming back up the hill! kel - thanks lady!... the weekend was good fun, shame we lost those two stages, but thanks to a star picket impaled horse, crash needing two ambulances, two fires on a total fire ban day and a collapsed spectator we were simply running out of time. marlin - you know it gorgeous! re corner cutting, priority wasn't given to this at twp... some tt there will be no white lines either as a new system is being implemented that will discourage corner cutting or clipping. yeah lots of fuel sampling was done and a number of vehicles failed pre-event... these vehicles were all found to be using the correct fuel during the event. although one e85 vehicle was penalised saturday night for using incorrect e85.
  12. have they fixed the seating position in the new TT?... the previous model always feel really strange being a little off centre and way too high.

    Targa Specs

  14. R34 drivers side rear 3/4 window including seal, both in excellent condition. $370 including freight to you. (RRP new is $550 + freight) PM me, or email me on [email protected]
  15. Well they did the year before... apparently it was all happening at washington's place, he did call and say that before we got pizza, but both mp and i completely forgot!
  16. Pre-event Jess yeah... the road closure car followed us down the mountain when we left Friday... hung around just long enough for Weeksie and I hang shit on each other about our sunnies! The wash up was silver Prada's beat gold Ray Bans Still can't beleave we got kicked out of Uncle Pats Thursday night eh Snowy! Targa Tasmania applications close 16 March.
  17. I didn't pay much attention to the mods, but it looked like it has had plenty of attention, time and money spent... I haven't seen an file for that car cross my desk yet so don't think it's entered in any of the Targa events down here, but what would I know! Policing R tyres is the tricky bit... we considered and researched this five and then three years ago, but tyre manufacturers were very open with the fact that they can produce an R tyre that looks like most other tyres in their range and label it as whatever meet the rules... Bob Jane Allrounder DZ03 anyone?! The problem then... you only have the big budget teams running the cheater rubber.
  18. I had a quick look at that green/silver R32 before we left Buller... very very clean machine. Perry thought it looked pretty hot, but the colour was just a little too Monaro for me!
  19. Update on my cars... Evo III is all back together and heaps of fun to drive, although its still not yet been used in anger. Its for sale and is pretty much a fresh thing with plenty of cash throw at it in the near two years I've owned it. My dollar per kilomtre ownership ratio on this car is even worst than the GTR or the RX7... maybe the two combined! For anyone interested check it out - http://www.my105.com/12415 RX-7 hits the tilt-tray to go get the engine back in it today, fingers crossed I can get it ready to use at a circuit event next year. Pretty sure I have all the requireded parts now. Already searching for the next toy in Japan, expect something very different from the previous!
  20. Minna Road was good too, its a quick one with good road surface and some exciting drops to steer away from! Collinsvale is pretty fast... I pucked fourth in my old GTR there! Domain is awesome if you have an Evo! Dystart (and old one) used to be much like a flatter version of Minna Road. Eagle Hawk Neck was the best and longest, maybe it will run again one day.
  21. yeah yeah benny, taspride's 'whoe whoe whoe' party, can't miss it mate. you're still coming down obviously? i've lined up all your fav boys to lick you down just before you're rolled in glitter! mainlanders putting my drinking efforts to shame... bring it on! anyone in onyx at the end of tt this year would know my committment... and so does everyone that was out the front of wp at about 3:30am!
  22. by this time next week i'll already be at buller... and outta there before the last of you piss heads arrive!... far more important xmas parties back down here that weekend
  23. I did mention to Tony that he could obviously run in Modern like Matt Close and other do and have done with Early Modern cars, he was considering that option.
