  1. Yeah right... good luck with that! I'll see you at the top!!
  2. I know a couple are registered, but I don't know how many in truth as I'm not that familiar with the Skelta. I understand the issue maybe over the requirement the constructed vehicles to be 'manfuactuered' to an identical technical configuration, there are three engine configs the Skelta comes in. For anyone that might remember it, I always thought Ray's previous carbon fibre bodied widebody clubman was far far cooler looking car than the Skelta. That said, a set of 18 or 19" rims and the Skelta could make it look heaps better. On the topic of this kind of car... Michael Stoschek from Germany (previously ran Porsche's (classic 911 ST and wicked black 993 GT2 in Targa) is behind this awesome bit of kit. He reckons it's goes and sounds even better than it looks! http://www.new-stratos.com/en/ Good work Snowy. I got the 7... it didn't stop raining the whole time we loaded it up on the trailer!
  3. Yes the Daytona is eligible and two will be at THC. Since 2001 ten fully assembled ADR complied road vehicles have rolled out their Dromana doors and hit the road, so this model it ticks the box. The two Lamborghini's are a work in progress and being made eligible... Super Loc Racing and White Hot Motor Sport are all working hard to make it to the event.
  4. yeah there are some big drops that will have everyone's respect. a lot of people have been through so far and some great feedback. have you dusted off the two ton pussy yet?
  5. this is good buying josh and the price is neg' i know the car and its been very well looked after. i've also supplied many top quality components for it - http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=16859
  6. For anyone wanting to drive over the 28 and 10k stages on the Jamieson Eildon Road I certainly wouldn't take anything too flash as there is 14km section of road construction as detailed in the recce notes. The 14kms is now 1000% better than it was just four months ago and will continue to be improved. There was hope of it having a seal on it for the event, but too much rain means it will more than likely just be compacted road base and only partly sealed... for 2012 it has potential to be the longest targa stage we've seen. Jeff's right, on these two stages there are no houses, no business, no nothing... but we do have excellent communications, tracking and incident response!
  7. Dunc - 400R, ATTKD and Z Tune are all still eligible.
  8. M7. Modern Vehicle List - is relating to Modern Competition only, some Early Modern cars are still on the Modern list, but will removed in due course. I have heard it said that Early Modern cars like 400R, Z Tune and ATTKD aren't really much of a departure from what was being done to those cars when they were at the front of the Modern Competition in years gone by...
  9. yeah those more cost effective E85s work under the regs. for THC mark and the team at race fuels will be doing e85 fuel service http://www.racefuels.com.au/, and there is a 98ron servo on the coursewe cross over twice daily (well prettty close on sunday anyway).
  10. touché... both the red and silver ones! word on the street is they're right up there with white gts-t's
  11. Ric's targa car doesn't have a tinted rear, wouldn't have a cams sticker on the front guards and he's always has Sparco seats not Velo. Ric does seem to have a cookie cutter approach to preping FD's, I guess that comes from years of experience building and racing them... would be a good car no doubt either way though... not a patch on the Mazda RX-7 SB specification though
  12. 1995 BMW 318is See the Car Sales advert for full details, but its a tidy 1.8 twin cam 5 speed that looks similar to an M3 with Genuine BMW M-Tech bodykit and Genuine BMW 17" rims, so cheap to run and insure. Good tyres, power everything, tinted windows, new BC Racing coilovers etc. Selling it as I got in part trade for my previous Evo race car, have kept it as my road car for the last 8 months and now want to inject what it owes me into my current race car... if it doesn't sell I'll keep and maybe turn into a replica M3 for racing. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...3&silo=1011
  13. i've always enjoyed the destroying bit... its far quicker to see results than the slow rebuilding process. the hardest bit i find is explaining to non-car friends why you took a nice perfectly drivable car and pulled it part!... and then once its finshed they ask why you took a nice perfectly driveable car and turned it into a noisy impractical shitbox!!
  14. yeah snowy with all the other 20th anniversary specific activties happening the rookie is being sidelined for a year as we simply need the road closure time those entries use.
  15. yeah the selection progress goes r32 and GT-R and GTS-t, then r34 GT-R and GT-t, the R33 GT-R and GTS25-t and so on

    Targa

You've ticked a few of the bigger items off the prep list already so I'd stick with the GTR... any cheapy (Evo or STi) you get into will feel very disappointing compared to how lively a tarmac rally GTR is, although there is no such animal as a cheap GTR!
  18. looks basic for now, but going forward every part of your entry for octagon events can be managed online via an airline style databasing system behind that site... this new system brings an end to filling out those endless paper forms and allows for much much more!
  19. a great piece of viral marketing from vodafone, i know some tarmac rally guys with similar skills - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zf40OzfwOo
  20. Just contact the guys at the booking centre (http://www.mansfieldmtbuller.com.au/), maybe pick up the phone and have a chat. They have access to all the accomodation in the area and can put you in the location and price range you need. Personally I'd just spend the entire period on the Mountain for recce and the weekend, remember we will be competing up and down (part) of the hill so extra reece ops at the start and end of the day. I was up their yesterday and plenty of accomodation available still I'm told. Batten's car seemed to come up Ok on the scales... pretty light machine anyway I understand. Alloy cage is still permitted as it was a pre-excisitng structure... not ideal, but it's their choice. THC roads are plenty wide enough to thread a GTS-t past slow GT-R's Woostar!
  21. thc website isn't far, the requirements placed on our new developer meant things are taking a little longer than hoped. tony seemed pretty happy when i spoke to him this morning. his plan was to always offer his evo ix to market post-tt10. he isn't confident evo x is the right car for him going forward. i think he'll be happy to play with his off-tap fd3s track car for a little bit, going by the engine and body bits i ordered for him today! the tt tv show will never keep everyone happy... but i've worked in this office for ten years and near nobody complains compared to times past. em coverage wasn't great, by by the time the leading cars crash out, blow up and are excluded you aren’t left with much... unless you want to commit a massive injection of funds to redo the show as its required to be finalised very shortly after the event. over all its a good piece with awesome photography.
  22. I'm selling my very comfortable spare Sparco race suit. It's had minimal use (worn at five events) and condition reflects this. Latested FIA 8856-2000 tags, black and silver, no embroydery or stains. Size 54 which means it's ideally suited to someone 172-186 tall. Comes with Sparco suit bag and delivery for $525... new replacment cost would be $1049 PM me or email [email protected]
  23. It's a pretty close replica... a lot of time, effort and funds went into producing it out of many genuine and custom produced parts, but this 'opportunity' allows it to be improved further. Don't be fooled by the older (pre-993) RS and RSR 911s either!... but from a competition point of view, the replicas are going far far quicker than any of the genuine ones ever have
  24. Yeah Dan, both ways! Mansfield Whitfield Road will be split into three stages each way. Re Eildon Jamieson Road, the shires had plans to seal and this has simply been bought forward. It will be in final prep as roadbase ready for sealing at THC so we will simply transport over it, but will be in good condition as sealing is due to take place in the week(s) after the event... hopefully with a year to cure it will make it one of the best targa stages to be found. The surface will be better than simple spray and rock speard which has pretty short life, expect to see something much the seal at the Jamieson end which is next up from spray. Cage sounds like a good idea Jeff... you just can't trust those Queenslanders!... but if you can lend me the key that would be great, I'll be over Thursday to do the roadbook! Just leave the key under a pot plant if you like!
