  4. Roy - Nah, E3 is an import rally car, can put Tassie SI rego on it though... my old GTR which still has it years later! phunky - Road car, 3.2's are cheap now for what they offer, but 996 C2 isn't that much more and offers more go a proper roof, and less stick from mates!
  5. I hadn't even got around to actually buying the Boxster yet and I've copped it from so many corners I put line through the idea! PS. You told me the harder I pushed the more you liked it... theres no consistancy with you... geees xx

  10. Too right Snowy, EMod is an exciting part of the event marrying cost effective and iconic 90's cult cars with a competition that isn't full of pro-drivers or factory teams. Promotion of Emod at TT09 certainly provides a great opportunity to improve on for TWP and TT going forward. The new regs do see a lot of adjustment, and are hopefully much easier to read for everyone, both new to the sport and not so. Snowy touched on it above and when we spoke and I genuinely believe that these new regs will help make opening the tarmac rally door even easier for more people. As with so many decisions in the motorsport world there are the odd few compromises made along the road when trying not to lose sight of the big picture and based on the feedback Mark, Helen and I have received today the future of TT and TWP is very bright!
  11. toffy - yeah when we set up the revised targa class back in '04 we thought actual rules would end up seeing people excluded for no good reason and thats where the time brackets came in to create competition in the classing of a, b and c. The words limited modification etc were used to simply try and describe how modified the cars are, not that the cars actually have limited modifications the only real short fall in b is that unless you have a 4wd car you will always play second fiddle off the line and the if the 4wd is driven well for the rest of the race you may not be able to pull back the gap and overtake without breaking the minimum time... the shorter the race the worse the problem. therefore, anyone wanting to actually be competitive in b and have a 95% chance at the championship needs to have a 4wd car. as it just so happens heres a good base! the price is neg and its the ligher first gen body too!! http://www.my105.com/12415
  12. There has been rationalisation of the wording of many of the rules for 2010... the rules haven't changed, simply made easier to read and interpret. For Showroom, a simple replacement insert in the standard strut is the ideal and best low cost solution, but this isn't the lowest cost option with some current model cars such as Evo X further to a couple of reasons... accordingly cars like the Evo X and 3 MPS use a replacement non-threaded shock body with a fixed spring seat. Some cars use adjustable shocks, some don't. Remotes aren't permitted in Showroom, but with clever design some cars run larger primary canisters if the shock length permits. In SS/M1/S1 fully adjustable coilovers with or without remotes are permitted. The rules for SS/M1/S1 have been revised each year over the last four, particually in the CAMS days, and then after we swapped back to what our rules used to be to reduce build costs.
  13. I remember Heaphy telling me he was stoked about the fuel tank rule change so they didn't have to swap the 12hr tanks over for TT Showroom back in April... sorry for the assumption on my part!
  14. salmons car was fixed. the 12hr and targa car are one and the same
  15. I always thought this was cool because it looks crazy! Maximum Motorsport (Herridge) built it I understand... not 100% sure though. This is about as good as it gets without going totally nuts.
  16. this simple diagram might explain what i'm trying to say better... consider the brown lines to be the outside edges of a tree! both methods work, both can be improved and any side instrusion is still allowing for the crash that might never happen. in each of my cars I have ramped up the bar work with every project... maybe i'm just becoming a lady as I getting older! bottom line is racing a car with a cage has to be smart than a bike!
  17. A triangle is strong on the surface, but consider the force being applied to it... in a side impact for which the intrusion bars are designed, unless the point where the triangle creates a cross has been gusseted (which isn't the case with most, or my RX7), or reinforced in the centre with a vertical bar to the floor (eg V8SC or WRC) the weakest point will always be the join in the centre, which is what Troy is talking about. With the ladder bar you not only have two horizontal bars, but also reinforcement of those two bars every 300-350mm with a vertical bar in the case of my Evo. In the event of a big side impact the ladder bar will hold up better than a simple cross as there is there is more material to bend at the weakest point... not that I have or ever want to find out!! You can rego the cage as soon has the builder has filled out the CAMS carbon sheet form. In the case of the RX7, it’s still not back together, but there were questions over the changing cage regs when it was about to be built, so I got a logbook for the car issued without the cage, then rego'd the cage and had it noted in the logbook... the car is still in a million bits though! In principal the car is meant to be competition ready when the logbook is issued.
  18. I find the straightness of bars is always an interesting one to debate with some scrutineers on cages that are constructed to the standard CAMS manual design model with mild steel. Some say, (thanks to a little ambiguity in the manual in a couple of para) that the top windscreen bar is in theory meant to be straight, as is the A-pillar bar with only one bend at the dash area... the a-pillar in one of my racers has no less than three bends (all thought only one major) to be fitted as tight as possible to the a-pillar (as one para in the manual suggests) and welded to the pillar instead of plated... and as you can see the windscreen bar has been positions as far forward as possible too with five bends. Although it could be argued that this isn't appropriate for the windscreen as it doesn't follow all that closely to the shell... anyway, all ticked off and registered now. With my next race car, who knows what that will be! but I reckon I'll run a ladder style side intrusion like in my Evo, but with a Sainz bar... and maybe a little higher up than the Evo.
  19. Mid-this week Ben
  20. with new rules for 2010 the intercooler and plenum can stay as is!
  21. The following stuff is all new in the box or packet. Never used, but bought for projects of mine. And I’ve still got heaps of CC Lancer bodywork including lights, doors etc which are spares for the Evo. Oh yeah and the Evo is for sale too! http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=12688 Drop me a line on stuart.benson@octagon.com if you want anything, my PM is full and no time to clear it right now.
  22. its a four gallon bottle too, not litre!
  23. searoad and tt are both about 450 to freight melb to devonport... extra 50 if it cant start on tt. its about 600 to get toll to freight from melb to hobart i've done all of them and no dramas.
  24. i considered a custom cages cage for the rx7, but whitey ended up doing mine... i wonder if their fitment would be as nice and tight as his work? (importand in an rx7 cause there's hardly any room as it is!) darren elphingstone near burnie is another option to weld up a kit for you, he did the cage in my evo and was very reasonable on price for the whole thing.
