Inspecting my first 32 GTR...

Oh well that one turned out to be a bit rough. He said 52k, the odo said 42k the sticker for timing belt change said 72k? In other words a wind back also judging from interior wear and condition. It was pretty straight though. When I asked myself would I be happy sacrificing my 33 for this the answer was no. Plain and simple. May be faster and handle better but that was about all it had on the 33. Only the 1st one though. The search continues... -

Yea don't worry I'm not taking it as a given. Even if I see log books stating such I guess they can be forged. I'll go on the condition of the car. Bit like the 25t it say 59k but I don't believe that. More like 100k I reakon. Far as I can tell the timing belt is original and the 25t is 6 yrs younger also. -
Get someone to run the motor 10 mins 1x a week maybe. Put cover on.

89 model, rego 6 mths, safety cert, 52000 clicks (apparently), stock standard apart from 3 inch cat back zorst, Kenwood sound, gunmetal, import papers, $26k ono. I have a feeling it could be this one if so would mean he got it on the road for about $22,500. Good thing its ono cos i wont be giving 26k. In theory a 52k motor shouldn't need a rebuild. How much does it cost to rebuild a RB26DETT anyway?

Isnt $63,500 a bit on the cheap side for a 34GTR? Like too cheap to believe? More like a good 33GTR with mods price isnt it? -
My driveway is a bitch Just went out and measured my 25t's mspec front bar and it has 165mm clearance at its lowest point at the bottom and front of the bar. Can someone tell me what the clearance is on a standard R32 GTR front bar? Just so i know beforehand if my driveway will be a bitch to my 32R also.

mmm. looks like I'll have to think twice about importing an accident grade R32GTR under SEVS probably not worth the risk.. dam. -
lol, u funny! PS Post August 1991 bugs etc were ironed out. Does this make post Aug 91's series 2's? What did they upgrade? :aroused:

Anyone heard anything about when this will be available. I've searched these forums - nothing found. Searched the RAWS list but no go yet. Read on Prestige that it is expected to be available this year? Can anybody confirm? Must be a few of us who are interested???

Keep R33gtst or sell & buy 89 R32 GTR
zymotic replied to zymotic's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Totally agree. But statistically speaking the probability is higher in getting a flogged 89 than it is a 94. 5 potential extra years of flogging. Of course, this is pretty 1 dimensional thinking other factors like weather, congestion, storage, driver behavious all affect condition. Bla bla bla. :bat: = zymotic in his R32GTR..... one day. -

zymotic replied to zymotic's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yea thats what I'm getting at. Potential for an extra 1-4 yrs worth of thrashing. I'm learning towards importing a gunmetal or blu (fat chance) one. 92-94 <=120,000 clicks. I would even consider accident damaged provided it was an good A1 or A or RA rating and was given assurance by Geoff that repairs were good. Either that or a 90-91 grade 3.5 maybe 4.0 I figure I'll have around 1,000,000 JPY FOB so the above should be reasonable with reduced demand for 90-94's. This would be contingent on R32 SEVS compliance at similar cost to 33. Also can anybody tell me the model variations of the 32 GTR from 89-94. The only thing i can find seems to be a revision (second series?) from August 91 on? Thats one BIG FU#$OFF smilie that I felt I needed to include in my post :sadam: -
Pretty rough 33GTR for that price I would have thought? Besides look what John has done to it. Its a bloody nice looking car.

Get that midnight racer guy selling his for $25,500 to send u pics of his. Its a beaut, an entire level above that one. Dam thing is white though and I refuse to get white or pay $4k for a respray. Thing is the km on that are stated at 127,900 but at least thats probably realistic. Unless they are in very very good nic its hard to believe that so many of the 10+ yr old GTR's have less than 100 clicks on them. Has anyone here rebuilt there RB26DETT? Is it cheaper than buying a whole new motor? -

Just got photos of that white R32 GTR for sale for $25,500 very nice car, 94 model too. Only prob is its white . I figure a total budget registered and alarmed of $25k should in theory get me a good 89. The thing I am trying to work out now as stated by Pentae is whether to search for a later model as FOB prices are actually cheaper for these due to the 15yr rule increasing demand. Maybe finish paying of the 25t (only $2,800 left) and search for a latter model at a better price than an 89, by that time its poss that R32 SEVS compliance will be available which in theory should be $4,500 + tyres. Assuming the savings in FOB equate to the higher costs in compliance I might be able to get a good 92-94 model in stead of a good 89. Eg. 810,000 FOB for this 92 model. It's only a theory I don't have a crystal ball -
Tips against Cars being stolen?
zymotic replied to Viscount's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yes I was thinking about GPS trackers don't know how much they are now but surely they will drop in price. FS you'd think I'd know GIS is my living. Anyway, Commonsense old fashioned tactics like; 1. Assessing where u will have to park ur car before u go on a trip, eg. where are the cameras if any in carparks, where would it be hard for a thief to conceal themselves 2. Keeping someone elses car parked behind urs in a driveway. 3. Dogs (unreliable) 4. Installing motion security lights in driveway. 5. Lockup garage. It sux don't it. The price we pay for driving nice cars. No the jealousy and opportunism of unethical people. Who Fu#@in Suck. -

Tis logical mate but lets be real. $25,500 is an exception not the rule. Most 94's are 30k+. Besides if its that white one on the forums no good i want gunmetal. -

zymotic replied to zymotic's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Have u bought yours yet? Any indications on time frame for SEVS 32 compliance. Wonder if the 1st group of SEVS will charge an arm and a leg for 32 compliance. Makes me wonder if 33 compliance has dropped now that there are more 33 complaincers. I paid $3,500 + tyres 8 months ago. I might start doing some research on 90+ models and their FOB's. Based on the above I guess you would be ahead if u got it for $2500 less (assuming $1000 for 15 yr compliance) due to a younger car. Maybe the other thing to consider is how safe the storage will be if it has to stay in Japan for a few months. -

Keep R33gtst or sell & buy 89 R32 GTR
zymotic replied to zymotic's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
According to JSPEC 89's are more expensive than 90+ models due to higher demand. So it might be more sensible of me to wait for SEVS compliance so i can get a 93-94 model instead. Unfortunately, I guess it may be some time before R32 SEVS compliance is available - possibly on 1 Jan 2005 when the 15 yr rule dies. Anybody have any info on when workshops will be able to SEVS comply 32's? In the meantime I will also keep my eyes peeled for local 32 GTR's. -
