    Tas Whoretown

There is always the TasCommodores organised East Coast Cruise this weekend you could join in with. Invited pretty much anybody along as long as they behave naturally. When: Sunday 16th November We will be meeting at the Campbell Town football oval (just north of town centre) at 10.30am in preparation for an 11.00am departure. We will be heading east through Fingal and St Marys to St Helens where we will stop for lunch. Then continue north through to Scottsdale and back to Launceston via the Sideling. The cruise will entail approximately 280km and should take somewhere in the vicinity of 4 hours including the stop for lunch. Was an absolute blast a couple of years ago in the Hatch. Not so much fun last year in the Adventra.
  4. Glad I could be of assistance. I have used that a fair bit to help guys work out gear, wheel and tyre combinations for race use. As you can see it predicts exactly where in the rev range it will drop to so you can alter your gearing to keep the engine singing at the sweet spot instead of dropping down too low in the revs. With enough data you can set up a car with different combinations for circuit work without actually having to try out all the wheel tyre diff ratio combinations first hand. Also helps out for drag racers as it shows that you don't necessarily have to hold it redline for each gear change depending on the ratios in your box. Sometimes it works out to be quicker to short shift one or two gears.
  5. Clicky Here!! Thats the best one I have found to use so far. Fairly easy to use and also very detailed in the info its spits out for you.
  6. Thats the joys of coil-overs unfortunately. So easy to adjust height but so expensive if you need to keep paying somebody to do wheel alignments. I am actually currently looking into some fairly cheap (relatively speaking) alignment gear for myself so I can do wheel alignments at home. Not for beginners but definately worth the investment when you consider what four or five alignments a year would cost if you had to pay for them.
  7. I am still curious for clarification on the V66 Skyline plug in model. There are so many stories going around about if it even exists or not and what specs it is. I was originally told that the V44 had 4 ignition outputs so a wasted spark set up was used on 6 cylinder cars, the V88 had 8 outputs so two were not utilised. To overcome this a cut down version of the V88 was produced for the Skyline Model that had 6 outputs. This sounded fair, till I started asking around and got differing stories from different suppliers. So, I went straight to the company themselves and all they could do was to point me to the link on their website which didn't tell me anything until I downloaded the manual for the Skyline Version and it appears that it is a V44 with connectors already attached for the Skyline loom. So if anybody can 100% definitively answer this question I would like to know. I will probably still end up purchasing one of these in the next month or so for the GTR once my other car has been sold but I to would simply like a straight answer to a simple question.
  8. Clicky Here!! Try that link... Download the one you need and away you go.
  9. Thats the Japanese Manufacturers Gentlemans agreed value that all cars will not exceed. Its been covered on the forums a number of times now. Cause if the GTR only has 206kw then there is something seriously wrong with both my V8's that make more than that but dont perform as well.
  10. There is minimal surface rust under the car. Mostly on the lower edges of the sills. Pin dents on the doors?? Spent the whole day detailing it yesterday and could only find two stone chips that had been touched up. The mirrors and bonnet and boot lips are pretty average in the paint department, maybe thats what they are referring too?? Both the lips actually look like they were painted with a brush rather than sprayed. I personally believe that its in pretty damn good condition so the people doing these survey sheets must be pretty damn fussy with their job. I probably should have put that I already have the car here at home with me. I was just trying to nut out what it says on this sheet so I can include it with all the other doculments I have that detail my whole importing experience. Call me fussy but I like to keep everything neat and organised.
  11. I am not after a full translation here. I simply want to know the basic details listed that I assume are the extras on the car. I can see ETC and figure that's talking about the E-Toll thingo that was stuck to the dash. The writing and lines pointing to the area just behind the front guards I assume is indicating the "dents" from being incorrectly jacked or lifted on a hoist at some stage. So basically anything on the lines next to the picture or what is described in the picture would be great. Thanks heaps in advance to anybody that can help out. I probably should point out that I am expecting it to list a few items like the stereo, remote, Turbo Timer, Strut Brace, E-Toll thingo, Aftermarket Wheel, CD Stacker.
  12. Yep that is the actual brace that was "taken". Picture was taken while still in Japan. If anybody sees it for sale (fairly obvious clearcoat peeling) I would be interested to know. Already looked at both those but the insurance people would rather deal with a business that actually holds stock, not buys from auctions apparently.
  13. After finally taking delivery of my car I discovered that the NISMO Strut Brace had been removed somewhere along the journey. After enquiring with the shipping company they have asked for a quote on replacing the brace. I contacted Unique Auto Sports regards a replacement but they informed me that NISMO no longer manufacture the Strut Brace that went missing. I have a picture of the brace below. I am looking for info on a business that may be able to source a similar brace for my R32 GTR. The shipping company require a quote on replacement to put the claim through. Anybody with any leads I would be grateful as I have about out-Googled myself on this one. As long as it is a similar style and sturdy looking like this one I will be happy. I like the extra bracing on the mounts and the sizing of the bar itself.
  14. So post away... If its been on the dyno then you should have a sheet... Or did you end up deciding again that all Tas Tuners are crap and did it yourself and worked out power the the seat of your scrawny little pants???
  15. ahh no.... The GTR will not be at the gravel hillclimb. Thats just stoopid. Its far too neat of an example to waste throwing around a gravel road. It will make a trip or two to Symmons Plains and down the quarter. Probably the numerous hillclimb's and the Smithton Kart Track Lap Dash events as well. All depends on the financial situation at the time. If its like now, wont be doing squat...
  16. The Nismo Strut Brace. My near perfect condition mats were swapped with some sh!tty old worn out ones. Thankfully the original owners manuals and full service history and documents detailing the fitting of the Stereo, Exhaust, Turbo Timer, E Tag thingy and Bilstein Suspension are all still in the car.
  17. Yeah thats one of the 149 pics I got of the car in Japan. Was actually pulling the kick panel out to check the ECU and sort out a rattle when I found the clips on it which reminded me of the pic with the orange thing in it. I figured it was something like a flare but after the other stuff had been taken I thought I may as well ask the question.
  18. Well I came, I picked it up and I am back in Tassie. Lets just say it was a pretty interesting day in good old Melbourne. I have to agree with you guys about St Kilda and the beach etc... Spose the fact it was in the 30's helped a lot as well Wont say too much about the car, it was damaged in transit and I was never told, bits were stolen and then compliance cost me more than I was quoted by a fairly big margin. What do ya do when your in a foreign city by yourself with no transport or friends?? Not mentioning the name of the business as I dont want any warnings etc and they are yet to be contacted in regards further developments. Headed back towards the Spirit, missed a turn, went round the block trying to find somewhere to grab some lunch and good old party lights behind wanting me to pull over. Crime cops bored with nothing to do as the drug dealers don't get up till 3pm, he told me, so they pulled me over cause I didn't have any plates. Checked the permit stuck to the screen, took it and my licence and spent 15mins in the car on the radio while his partner inspected pretty much every bit of my car while at the same time telling me he couldnt give a rats about cars they dont interest him. He actually thought I was joking when I told him that yes it is a genuine 32 GTR not just a badged up Skyline as he thought it was. His partner finally finished whatever the hell it was he was doing and proceeded to read me the rules and regs off the permit and explain what I could and couldnt do even though I had just copped that lecture from his mate who knows nothing about cars. So when he finally finished I thanked them for filling in an hour of my otherwise boring day and went and sat outside the gates to the Spirit terminal for about 5 hours till it was finally time to get the hell outta Melbourne. Off the boat the next morning and straight to Symmons Plains. Passed about 15 different cops out on the hwy and not one of them even looked twice at the filthy GTR with no plates touring in the middle of nowhere. ahhh.... I know why I live over here. Least the eye candy was worth it.
  19. But this then brings me back to my original question... Why??? If the Japanese tyres are removed and replaced with identicle tyres bought in Australia whats the difference?? I understand its illegal, I just dont understand why. There is no logical reasoning for it.
  20. Straight off the boat into Tassie and met by yet another import. And then straight down to Symmons Plains. There in an official capacity so I only managed two laps dropping gear to flaggies etc but still on a race track at full noise on the first day.
  21. So many questions... You sound more excited than I am!! Yes its here. Damage is not bad but will require a full front bar respray. Its the stuff that got stolen that pisses me off. No the Hatch is still in the driveway behind the GTR but we are still talking with that person you put me onto. He is keen, just busy with work apparently. First place she went, down to Symmons. Only did a couple of laps in an official role so couldnt really do much.
  22. Sorry I probably didnt type exactly what I was trying to get across. If the tyres on an imported vehicle have the DOT markings and everything else exactly the same as tyres that are purchased here in Australia then what is wrong with leaving those tyres on the vehicle and allowing it to go through compliance and registration with the Jap tyres still fitted?? I understand its all about political mumbo gumbo and the like but I fail to see why a person should have to pay for a second set of tyres to put on a vehicle exactly the same as the ones coming off it just so it can be complied and registered.
  23. So if the tyres that were on my car when it was imported are in fact marked exactly the same as a set of tyres I currently have on my personal Australian vehicle and there are no visible signs of deterioration or damage etc, whats to stop me from leaving them on the vehicle and using them?? Hypothetically of course. Its one of those long winded discussions that I seem to get in regularly and we can never find a black and white definitive answer to the very basic question.
  24. ah cool. Well if its a flare then it all makes sense why its not there anymore. That one I can go with for a number of reasons. Unbolting and taking my strut brace is a whole different story... Thanks heaps guys.
  25. I am hoping that somebody can tell me what this object is that was under the dash clipped onto the passenger side kick panel. It appears to have had an orange lid. I have looked through the owners manuals, both the original Japanese one and the Aussie one supplied when complied, also the entire workshop manual but cant seem to find out what it is. Its just another of the many things that went missing out of my car on its way to me from Japan. In case it helps the car is an R32 GTR. Thanks heaps to anybody that can let me know.
