Usually guys that hang blankets and quilts from ceilings and walls are doing it to deaden the sound of the room (e.g. make a drum kit sound less boomy), not necessarily trying to sound proof. Generally acoustic room treatment doesn't have to go hand in hand with sound proofing.

Sound proofing is extremely difficult to do properly, it really needs either a lot of concrete for the walls or floating floor/room designs..... a combination of both work well but is expensive.

I'm thinking the same thing. To have access to the extra revs above 18K (in conjunction with unlimited engine usage) and double the KERS power alone should make these low budget teams competitive or even dominant.

I think they've taken this too far...... it's not really going to encourage teams to be outside of the budget cap imo....

Just a shame the game is going to be decided by umpires....

IIRC you can actually record or sequence the output (MIDI data) of the Kaos pad, then have the sequencer replay the movements for you on playback....

I got the 003R sent form the USA (much cheaper than it was here) about 2 years ago, don't remember what I paid cause I sold my old 001 at the same time. Pro Tools LE won't work without Digidesign hardware and Pro Tools M Powered required selected M Audio hardware. Probably the cheapest option would be finding a second hand M Audio Audiophile 24/96 or 192. Connecting a synth to the computer is simple too, for data you connect it via MIDI either to your sound card or USB. If you're going to go the Pro Tools route, try to stay away from the USB interfaced devices. Firewire devices are much more stable/reliable for use with digi hardware or any ASIO compatible hardware.

Having had a good look at the proposed regs for 2010 it seems there is going to be an incredible amount of differences between the teams that choose to use the budget cap and those that do not....... Unlimited number of engines (and no rev limit) for those 'capped' teams along with unlimited testing might be deal breakers for the 'uncapped' teams.... Should be very very interesting times...
