  1. Well, that's the problem isn't it? It stops the consumer who can't afford the cost, but not a competing commercial entity who probably can afford the cost... LW.
  2. People should also consider the different nature of the two engines. RB30 obviously has a larger displacement and more torque, but you will sacrifice rev's for it, and viceversa with the RB26. LW.
  3. BMT: Do you have any bigger pics available? What was the leather like when cornerning (ie. slippery, or the same as the regular GT-R fabric)? LW.
  4. But even then, its not like you are ordering blind. Invariably the menu lists everything in the dish. To drag this back on topic, what it comes down to is the proportions and the way they are mixed. To use the cooking analogy, you can give two chefs the exact same ingredients and they can come up with two dishes that are entirely different. My point was not that Roil should list the proportions or how they were mixed (the "reciepe") but that there was no reason why the contents (the "ingredients list") shouldn't be made available. Its not going to divulge anything a half decent chem lab couldn't find out anyway, nor is it going to provide a complete receipe for how to make the stuff. It would just allow a discerning consumer to check what is in the product. Instead, we are stuck guessing and emailing suppliers, etc. Lucien.
  5. BMT: Wow. Very nice price then LW.
  6. If you consider that the government represents the general public, then yes. Moreover, when the patent lapses or expires, there is a complete and accurate description of how the product is made, that is made freely available to everyone. LW.
  7. Rubbish. So what if Coca-Cola doesn't have the ingredient list on their product? That doesn't stop a competitor from taking to a lab and working out what's in it. In Coke's case, its more about "mystique" (the 'secret herbs & spices') than protecting their product. Moreover, the point of a patent is to make the knowledge available, not to hide it. In return for protection of a product, the government (or holding authority) is given the complete details of an invention. Check your patent law history. Edit: Speaking of the mythical '11 herbs and spices' of KFC, some consumer organisation actually had a priece of KFC chicken anaylised in a lab and found (from memory) that it had 4 fats and 3 spices. KFC doesn't advertise 11 herbs and spices anymore... LW.
  8. BMT: Hard to tell from the piccies, but did they also do the door trims for that price? LW.
  9. You Nismo whore, you If this is the Nismo wheel(s) you mean, I prefer the look of the Momo Millenium: http://www.takakaira.com/asp/template.asp?...iEfFfacBd%60gCb However, I might just have to get a Nismo boss emblem (or better yet, a GT-R one if you can source it) Lucien.
  10. tangcla: small world, eh. Well from my understanding of the law, it doesn't matter if the projector housing is the same, and you will need the washing function if you don't have tilt auto-adjustment. If you can find an engineer who will disregard these things, then lucky you Again, I am just making sure people are alert to these problems as Skyline are a big enough target with the cops and they could make life difficult. Anyway, I have said enough. On with the selling LW.
  11. 2rismo: will call him tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation. rs73: yeah, local places seem quite pricey. Another SAU'er recommended me to this place which appears to be run out of Singapore and has good prices: http://www.mikimarketing.com/ Lucien.
  12. Tangcla: Not trying to rain on your parade, but people should be aware that at least in NSW, it is illegal to retrofit Xenon without an engineers certificate. Furthermore, a requirement of the engineers certificate is that the lights have a self-washing function, which AFAIK no Skyline has from the factory, so you will need to modify your car. The legislation in other states may vary: check with your road authority. MRPREZ: 8000k is a waste. Anything over 4300/5000 is a waste: you trade power/brightness (lumens) for colour. I suggest you (and other interested in HID) have a read here: http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com Lucien.
  13. Hi Guys, Looking for recommendations on where to buy MOMO steering wheels locally. Just trying to price the local retailers against the overseas prices. Cheers, Lucien.
  14. Did you have the wheel arches rolled? Do they scrub? I would hate to see your tire bill LW.
  15. Providing a list of ingredients doesn't give you the proportions, so its not like you could just read the label, go home, and knock up your own batch. It also makes no difference in terms of your competitors, as they can just send it off to a chemical lab to have it processed and get the exact proportions and contents. In other words, there is no reason why it shouldn't be listed or at least made available somewhere in the company's materials on the product. LW.
  16. SS8_Gohan: Amen. As an individual, I think you would only ever bother going through this process if you really want the car If anyone is interested, I have been keeping a diary of my import process in the hope others will get a first hand account of exactly what the process is like: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthre...threadid=256673 Lucien.
  17. T0nyGTSt: yeah, that's what I would think... I can understand some rich playboy/girl splurging for plates for their (truly) prestige car, but who the hell else would? Spend the x thousands on the cars itself FFS Although, having said that, I quite like comedic plates. Any plates that are along the lines of "I am too good", "My car is too good", "You are envious of me/my car" should be destroyed IMHO (or be forceably changed over for "WANKER" plates). LW.
  18. raz0r$harP: excellent news. Look forward to the "my new car" thread with lots of pictures Lucien.
  19. vspecv: Intersting: can I ask what the determing factor is in making the RB26 that much harder to get in/out? LW.
  20. Can't wait to see the results (heh, I can imagine its worse for you ). Any chance of getting the dyno graph to include RPM so we can have a look at response (the whole KMH thing is too hard for my tired brain of an evening)? LW.
  21. Merki: wicked. So when does it hit the dyno? LW
  22. I have always wondered about those ads in the trading post for multi-thousand dollar plates: is anyone vane enough to spend that much on a freaking license plate? I can think of so many other things I would rather spend the money on... can't others? Weird. :headspin: LW.
  23. As a very general rule of thumb, supercharging is good for down low, but useless up high (and turbos are the reverse). Basically there is no particularly good reason to supercharge a Skyline, in fact many would argue its an inferior technology (including the man who designed the supercharged-6 used in Holden's Commodore). LW.
  24. OTT: Joel, just noticed you have a Citroen DS. Nice to see a follow Citroen-ite amongst the SAU faithful LW.
