  1. Err, why pay for a mechanic to do it? IMHO that's just a waste of money since a PFC is essentially a plug and play device. Sorry, but your friend was just stupid. Driving around on a base map with a rebuilt engine is a silly idea. LW.
  2. Well, according to SK in a previous thread, proper hi-flowing costs about $200 per injector -- a little less if labour is free -- and on that basis its cheaper to buy new ones. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...19&postcount=15 Haven't been able to find the thread warning against hi-flows yet (as per Megalla's post). LW.
  3. No, the look hideous: bring on the D-Speeds LW.
  4. Fixed that one for you Andrew LW.
  5. raz0r$harP: Interesting: can you PM me who this is through for interests sake. Ceffo: re: dock/wharf charges -- how long was your car sitting around on the Sydney Wharf though? Did you use a customs agent? LW.
  6. /me starts chanting "Go Troy, Go Troy" I can see it now "Jerry Springer: Type-R Edition". LW.
  7. meggala is right. I remember a thread a few weeks ago where this was brought up (sorry, can't be more specific at the moment). LW.
  8. Is there some way of converting KPH to RPMs? LW.
  9. Personally I think the white cars look great with black TE37s or LM GT4s. Better than white/white IMHO because of the contrast. LW.
  10. Its been posted before. LW.
  11. Thing is, not only are his comments inflammatory, but they are stupid. Nothing wrong with making an argument backed up by some evidence, but when you just make claims with no basis in reality why are you suprised when people jump on you? LW.
  12. No doubt, but its also the ultimate expression of a particular tuning philosophy (at least related to Skylines). While you can't "compare" various tuning styles, I think you can place relative weights on their importance to one's self. I think since my car is going to have to encounter corners that tuning for a dyno or drag is useless. Obviously this will differ for each person, but lets be sensible for a second: I would guestimate that 99% of us can't afford to have a car just for dyno or drag runs -- invariably our cars are daily drivers or at least tun on the streets and around tracks -- so I think "response tuning" is far more relevant for the majority because its about balance and usable power, not outright "my-dick-is-bigger" tuning. Anyway, that's my overrated opinion LW.
  13. Gojira / SS8_Gohan: the Mines Response R34 is my idol car. If I can get my GT-R to be even 1/10th of that car, I think I will be a happy man Its all about the response children. LW.
  14. Insurers cannot offer third party + fire + theft in NSW: there is no provision for it under NSW law unfortunately. As for AAMI, I was told by a quite knowledgable spray painter / repairer to steer well clear of AAMI because they well send your car to absolute dodgiest/cheapest place they can find without exception, and that generally they are a PITA to deal with so repairers don't exactly make an effort. LW.
  15. No, but "powerful" can mean a lot of things. 1000HP is a lot of power, but if its not delivered till 8000RPM is it really that powerful in the real world? To drag out the age-old Mines "Response" R34, that's what I call a truely powerful car: not only does it have power in abundance, but it can actually get it down to the ground, and its useable from pretty much anywhere in the rev range. I have massive respect for that car, whereas another 1000HP dyno queen bores me (or even a car like FLYBYE after reading last months SPEED). Mr (or Mrs) X. will surely have some idea of the "type" or power they want ie. down low, up high, etc. LW.
  16. They are "cut out" at the factory (basically, the letters are clear plastic) and, as Shan said, an EL sheet is used on the factory version. Edit: doesn't seem to be any for sale at the moment LW.
  17. EL, LED, lets not split hairs I'm thinking one of those would be a good way to remind those behind what the car is /me hits Yahoo JP LW.
  18. To steal Funkymonkey's image from another thread: LW.
  19. No, on the R32 there was an option for the centre panel to have the word Skyline LED-lit. LW.
  20. funky: any idea where I can source one of these panels for my GT-R (gun metal)? Any idea on the costs? LW.
  21. If its well priced, well maintained and the conversion was done properly (with ecu, diff, etc, etc switched), wouldn't bother me at all (although paulr33 makes a valid point). LW.
  22. MR2? Hmmm.. bit tail happy for a beginner I would think: if you ever lost it (round a corner I mean), good luck getting it back as an inexperienced driver. LW.
  23. I agree kw's can be useful to evalute modifications, but only when RPMs are taken into account. No point slapping a T04R on and just pointing out the huge rwkw increase without also noting the huge lag... LW.
  24. The national average sale price for a MY00 is $24-28 -- the price jumps substantially for late 2001 models: http://www.redbook.com.au/Vehiclesearch/pr...sp?key=SUBA00CT You shouldn't be paying more than that for an R33 GTS-t, so the value is almost exactly the same (or slightly in favour of the R33 I would think). LW. LW.
