  1. I'm more than happy to give you a hand with stereo related issues. www.fhrxstudios.com shameless free plug
  2. Custom boot setup? Rough price? Somewhere between $200 and $3500000. Have you looked at our website and many others at just how silly you can go with a custom boot set-up? :D
  3. Remember also that more often than not when the system is struggling it 's the amplifier you're hearing struggling rather than the speakers. If you're planning a speaker upgrade you might want to consider an larger external amplifier to provide more clean power to them than the headunit's comparitively small internal amplifier can provide.
  4. Calm down, I wasn't going to charge you anything to sort it out. I was just offering to have a look over it and point you in the right direction.
  5. We fully drain the trickle the Optima's too every twelve months. We must have sold nearly 2000 batteries over the years and we've had but a few ever have issues. From that few all except two were from lack of care.
  6. DaGr81, I see you are in Sydney; could you please bring your car down here so I can sort it out for you mate? By the tone of your post and certain afore mentioned key elements within it, I suspect you might not be getting the best sound possible from your sub. [email protected]
  7. Without going through a shop yoyu can send them back to Pioneer to be serviced. They take them apart, clean them and check them over for a minimal amount.
  8. Just focusing on the power levels and THD, what is the power output at 12 volts, 13 volts and 14.4 and what resistance are these measured at? Now I'm not having a shot at the amp at all or denying the claimed power, I'm simply interested.
  9. Many people would disagree with you on that point. Many people...
  10. Oh bollocks, you just don't like it because you're too tall to fit in it! :jester:
  11. Guys, take it easy and all calm down. Mick, while trying to sound as modest as possible, many people know me as I've been in the industry a long time and have made many friends. Now this being a public discussion forum, we're all free to put our points of view down. Mick, you say systems should have caps. I say they are very rarely needed for systems. There is nothing at all wrong with us disagreeing in our opinions. This is what a public forum is all about. We should be wise and mature enough to disagree and still continue on with our discussion. The fact that Sliksilvia agrees with me is fine and should not intimidate you like it seems to. Others would disagree with my sedimates as you do. This is also quite acceptable. So how about we dispense with the name calling and keep the discussion on topic fellas? Now what is everyone elses opinio on the cap debate?
  12. overboost, I don't suppose you have the specs to that Pyle amp anywhere do you? I'd like to have a look over them if I may.
  13. Parallel importing also damages the industry and dealers like us too.
  14. The 8650 is quite a good model. We do many of them. They tend to have all the useful features you need while only having minimal amounts of useless ones you don't.
  15. Yeah Clarion make nice decks too. That's true.
  16. With all due respect Mick what you have written there is totally incorrect. I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but please review it. We've done literally thousands of systems over the past twenty years and never have they needed a cap with the exception of dedicated SPL competition vehicles. Don't just take my word for it though, ask on forums such as Car Audio Australia, Aus Car Audio or go to some of the US forums such as Carsound.com and point them to this thread.
  17. Not as good quality? Who told you that dude?
  18. In a sealed enclosure the shape won't make any difference at all within reason. Yes standing waves can be an issue but your enclosure will need to be meters long for this phenomenon to occur. As for the argument of sealed vs ported being better for SQ and SPL, either enclosure can sound fantastic and either can blow your head off. It is all about power and careful design.
  19. Kill HSV, half the info you have been fed is incorrect I'm afraid. Seeing as you're in Sydney, can you come down and see me sometime and I'll sort the whole front end out for you. There are many things that can cause (crackling) and I have not got time to write a thesis on it here I'm afraid.
  20. Forget the cap as they're a bandaid fix for a larger issue. If you're going to fork out the money for a cap then instead, get yourself a quality deep cycle battery like an Optima D34. That said though, you should not need any power storage upgrades with only one amplifier on board.
  21. I would rather the Pioneer over the Alpine myself but when comparing these two products you cannot really go too far wrong as both ranges are very similar as they go up.
  22. Seeing as you're in Sydney go to Daystar down at Mortdale. We use tonnes of the stuff and that is where we get it from. Polymer/Daystar 3/10 Hearne Street Mortdale, NSW, 2223 (02) 9533 9222
