  1. When you've got kids as old as Nick is young, then it'll be safe to say that your hands are free, and with that, your priorities now shift to pursuing things you want to do I can only wait patiently for that time to come. Your choice of car and your username is very misleading LOL Nick happens to be the youngest of the group though. You can kinda tell by the way he mods his car. The bulk of us are mature enough to realise that keeping things original (especially engine wise) is the way to go
  2. Don't think I can do a run up to the sunny coast just for lunch these days. Got plenty of things to do around the place. Have 'priorities' nowadays. Stay single as long as you can and whatever you do, don't get kids until you're truly ready May be able to squeeze in something closer to home though.
  3. I would go option 3 which is to get some bilstein struts on stock springs and also get some standard nissan shocks to store in the cupboard. I now understand why people rave about Bilstein's because the MRs came from the factory with them. I do have some spare struts for the Caldina stored away for when the stock TRD (kyb) ones die. Won't need to get spares for the MR because Bilstein's last forever. My research indicates that the Nismo S tune's are really good but can be a tiny bit harsh for our roads. Wouldn't want a mid-corner bump to unsettle the car now would we? Who's doing the replacement of said bushes and the wheel alignment for you? Black V35? If so, it looks horn. I really think it's time 'certain people' organised something for both the old heads and to welcome the multitude of new people that have popped up in this thread. I'm new here myself so would love to tag along
  4. This is something nobody should discuss on a public forum. Any decent brand will do. It's the quality of installation that matters. Hell, a $150 system with a $700 install will stop damn near anyone without access to a flat bed truck. I believe the man himself will confirm this (his rates are more reasonable than this of course) The extra cost he warrants is definitely worth it imo...wouldn't want him to cheap out on quality just to save a few dollars. My custom job that finished recently with him (cos them Melbourne boys took priority ) cost just north of $1k. Was tempted to go a few hundred more for the 'watertight' treatment but felt it was overkill for a car like mine. He also gave me some free stuff like a covering of concrete dust so I've now got the matte paint job I've always wanted
  5. Just wondering why would anyone go to the trouble of installing a GPS tracker but not have a proper security/immobilizer system to stop the thieves in their tracks? Only ignition damage? You're basically telling us the car's bare bar the tracker. That's sus, I'm sorry. Pay the vendor fees so you can promo your shiz please
  6. They could be dicking you around I got my compliance/plates done within 2 weeks and that was close to the Xmas period too (early Dec 2013).
  7. That's a bit sad. I suppose if you had bonnet cut outs and exposed carbies, rain wouldn't exactly be a good thing Fingers crossed the weather stays good at next month's meet.
  8. Might have to pass this month. Wife started work this week and was told to come in today. Have to look after the little fella I had the caldina all prepped up too but she's taking that to work
  9. The one at Coles/Kmart on Ruthven st
  10. Try to eat the fish from your local woolies/coles and you will Raw fish if prepared well and fresh, you'd have no problems.
  11. Only cos Nissan got lazy and sat on their asses. Look at the incremental development with the evo over the years and compare that to the GTR. An R34 isn't that much better over an R32. & of course your 9 is a couple generations younger than even the latest model R34. Evo doesn't hold a candle to a GTR in terms of road presence too. Dollar for dollar though, evo does win hands down. A 20k evo 8 would go a lot better round a track than a 20k 32GTR.
  12. Lemme know and I'll come along. Caldina this time cos the Evo is still with Chris Rogers. Only get it back Sunday.
  13. Bookmark this thread, Alex and check back here often. We're always catching up and do go for runs with a lunch afterwards - mostly weekends Small group but cool dudes
  14. Then you already know what you have to do Go test drive one. If you do end up choosing an evo, get one from the 8 onwards. The diff has been beefed up to handle twice the torque the older AYC diffs can (7 and older). 8s onwards also come with stronger engine components like forged rods. As others have said, it is the more reliable package and doesn't require as much prep to keep reliable for track duties. Notable pluses for the Evo: Newer car with potentially less wear and tear on components (7 onwards) Oil cooler from the factory which keeps getting bigger with each model. Re-mappable factory ECU that puts rivals most aftermarket computers - even anti-lag is merely a few keystrokes away to activate (lacks data logging tho) Lighter than a GTR (marginally) Makes more torque and sooner (390nm by 3500rpm for a stock car) 4 cylinder rego and cheaper insurance Simply the better track car - have a look at the millions of Best Motoring videos where they pit the gtr, evo, sti, nsx etc... against each other and the evo trumps the gtr in most of them. My question to you is do you need the four doors? If you don't, get the GTR. Personally, I don't give 2 hoots about the benefits the Evo brings. I own one but only because it was a compromise with the wife between fun and maintaining some practicality for family reasons. A GTR is just what it is.............a GTR. Screw the downsides and make it work I say
  15. Thank god Team Wild Speed turned up. That way EvoOz can continue to bolster it's membership. I'm expecting them to become platinum sponsors real soon
  16. I agree. He's about to finish work on my car and then he's taking off to Vic for some lucky sods who managed to pool together to secure his services in making their cars just a wee bit harder to steal. This car will be the 3rd car of mine he's worked on. For the record, he's also willing to humor any sort of security idea you might have and he'll shoot you down if it's not worth doing. Fortunately he gave mine the go ahead BUT you better have money ready. Quality work does not come cheap. Not saying I'm rich but I'd rather spend the money on a good security installation than an exhaust + tune only to lose everything when the car gets taken. An insurance payout isn't exactly the same as your pride and joy is it?
  17. Make sure its RP HPS at the very minimum. Has all the additives in adequate quantities to prevent wear and tear to your nether regions
  18. Yeh, totally understand man. Surgical procedures to your behind are never cheap. Do they accept credit card tho?
  19. Definitely in. Depending on my schedule for the week, I may have to miss bowling but I certainly can make food and drinks. Unless of course it's this coming Friday where I know I'll finish early Can't do karting. Would rather save that money for a Happy Laps or for those BBS wheels I want.
  20. They don't have a theme as far as I know. They just welcome anyone and everyone. All cars seem to be welcomed as well as long as they aren't idiots and abide by the rules of the cruise. I didn't make it. Nobody seemed keen enough and I'm not rocking up alone. When's the next TSO + E run? I spent most of the day either running errands or watching the bathurst 12hr. Fking Nissan decided once again to prove they're shit by supplying blindfolds to each of their drivers and use it they did! Can't wait to see what cars run at next year's. I'm surprised that none of these rich people chose to use an LFA or a Koenigsegg or an Aston Martin. If they can spend stupid money fitting a 5ltr V8 into a Ford Focus and turn it RWD, they should have gone for something that exotic just for kicks.
  21. Will never talk about anything security online. Didn't even reveal the setup in the old 180 to it's new owner until all the monies had been handed over and he was about to drive away in it
  22. LOL alright then. We'll have to do our own sometime soon to make up for missing this one? Besides, I haven't gotten the call from Chris to say I can pick up the new girl. At least I know it's not a rushed in/out sorta job...or perhaps he just wants to keep the evo for a little bit to enjoy himself
  23. I'll prolly come along with you. Meet up at at HQ around 9:30? I have no idea where this silly lookout is and cbf'd googling. I only know that north st passes straight thru the heart of derelict central in Toowoomba Alternatively, could meet up at mine cos I think I'm closer to the lookout yea?
  24. It's on their facebook page - Last Place Cruising. Meet at the lookout at 10am. 10:30 cruise starts heading out to ravensbourne lookout and photos taken. 12:00 - 12:30 back into toowoomba parking at the duggan st parking then into the gladstone for lunch n drinks. I suppose from ravensbourne, we could then decide to go our way and have lunch at the withcott pub? I personally wouldn't buy a swift nor a focus but apparently some of these guys have had their share of modded imports in the past. I have been known to discriminate against certain cars and mod trends but I'm trying to change my stripes Did you get a number or get him to have a look at this thread? Could get him to join us unless of course he likes driving/hardparking alone
