APS used to make bolt-on turbo kits for the 350. Some 350s for sale here are turbo'd. The old girl isn't anything special. She makes a great street car - got the brakes and takes corners like a pro but she can get unsettled depending on what sort of bump you hit mid-corner. Coilovers just suck plain and simple. Bilstein shocks and eibach springs all the way IMO. Today's little session revealed my current alignment setting lacks turn-in compared to my previous setting but I don't have to fight the wheel so much in regular day-to-day commuting. Sad I can't have my cake and eat it. When you do get a ride, you'll miss the torque of the LS and I thoroughly enjoyed the torque of the VQ. Boost however, can get addictive.

I think you would have completed the picture, Nick They are solidly built cars. Drive brilliantly and by the seat of my pants, I believe they have greater mechanical grip in the twisty stuff. Their seats also hug you as good as early GTR buckets (I rate them the same with 33GTR ones) with the addition of power adjustment and heating. The engine has plenty of torque from the get go and nothing beats an N/A for response. Steering is very direct and the brakes are good but a bit too touchy for my liking. Didn't get to brake too hard in it though so I can't tell how they compare to the setup on the 180. Suspension was stock and didn't roll too much in the corners. Rode bumps and imperfections brilliantly - this made me hate my coilovers even more! I really ended up liking the car very much in the brief time that I drove it. My comparison is of course based on my experience driving the old girl and being in a few skylines in my time (not just TSO member cars). I know they're newer so I am comparing apples to oranges Makes me wonder what a turbo'd 350 would be like LOL

I use electrical contact cleaner which is essentially the same thing bar the price. Bunnings have them cheap. Sad you couldn't turn up today cos of the car. We were wondering where you were. Had a fun drive today. Even got to swap cars and drove a 350Z. Bloody spectacular cars even stock standard. I personally believe a it would run rings around my 180 on the track apart from the straightaways. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 3 or more seconds a lap quicker with me behind the wheel of both cars (depending on the track layout). The Perrenti got all the attention from people up at Picnic Point and had a few requests for pictures. Nobody cared bout the 3 Japanese buzzboxes parked right beside it

It can't be 2 hours to get up the range can it? Personally don't think they'll work on ANZAC day? Thats disrespectful if you ask me.
-
TSO pretenders no more The leader has returned!
-
How much longer do we have to wait before you can officially join a cruise with the beast?..................
-
OK, am heading out now to fuel up the old girl and check vitals (oil, water, tyre pressure) in preparation for tomorrow
-
OK, am home Garry, you game? If so, I'll be there at 12 sharp. Not a TSO thing then...more like the TSO pretender crew
-
LOL guess my interpretation was slightly off. Sad its now much more expensive for non-members to join in with a great bunch of guys on the track So nothing on for Thursday? Is this because you guys are working Friday?
-
No, Nick. This is me hoping for something to happen on Anzac day. If nothing gets planned then I'll prolly still roam the streets somewhere with Garry. The twin silver brothers together again after a long separation LOL Would like to go to Happy laps especially since they reduced the prices for "invited guests" of SAU QLD members However, the wife would want to come along but isn't in any state to be experiencing G Forces atm.
-
Ok, question. Anybody keen for something on Anzac day? A cruise or a run and I'm happy. Seriously been working too hard the past 3 weeks or so and I need my brothers to keep me sane. Might have a friend in his car come too. We can meet at the carpark as usual. Where's our fearless leader?
-
Blanchview is free, Nick Non-members still pay a fair bit. I'm not poor but I have reasons to be saving as much as I can at this point in time so I'll have to pass on Happy Laps until things settle down a little on my end. Moreover, am looking forward to catching up with everybody and any new members that show up BTW, why does everybody think Chris drives his car slow? My reputation is unmatched 'round these parts.
-
Fussy is good. At least I know that should I ever need a panel beater, I'll be well taken care of Might have to get you to tag along one day when I go looking for a new car. Could use your expert opinion/tools to supplement my meager knowledge. So when are we going to do another run? Wanna drive the old girl as much as I can, while I still can
-
It's already on EvoOz, Terry. Looks clean and good price! Still recommend buyers take any import in for a pre-purchase inspection before buying. I'll prolly cop a warning for this, but mind PM'ing a link to your 8MR build thread if you have one, Terry?
-
Sorry guys, I really couldn't ditch work. Made a promise. Now if I had made a promise to turn up for the cruise, I would have, by hook or by crook. Where's my pictures, ppls??? How many turned up? (especially the tbar crew LOL) What sort of cars? Did everybody get to do a blanchview? (downhill touge ftw)
-
& 180 Nick isn't allowed to come for this one cos he's not a skyline owner, right? Just so you know: My brakes and hubs are off a skyline. My vehicle security was done by one of your own. The father in law used to drive a Hakosuka. Do these count? What if I rock a GT-R badge on the front and back? Bah, I'll be working anyway Spewing I can't even tag along with someone... Post up lots of pics in here or somewhere on the SAU mother forum, please. That's all I ask.
-
Eh? I haven't done anything bar posting in here and on TSO facebook... Old girl's still out of action AFAIK
-
I believe you're under estimating the ability of the average person to unlock the door and hot wire a car. Mine had an alarm and immobiliser professionally installed and all it took was a length of wire, pair of side cutters and 30 secs of a certain person's spare time to bypass everything and start the car up. Said person is of course a professional (and I don't mean thief/criminal) but still... If your car had no protection, it doesn't stand a chance!
-
All this talk about racing and nothing's happening LOL When's the race on? I will come watch. I'm also willing to bet that the old girl will keep up with the GTRs without too much difficulty should I join in. As for the strip, I reckon she'll do a blistering 14sec pass with me behind the wheel
-
Been patiently waiting for you to organize another run but I can't make it now. Old girl is out with a busted turbo/manifold gasket. Sounds like I got a screamer on boost
-
Soooooooo why you no bring this frens along to the driving time? We can have many many more fren. Always only two or three or four car come for driving. Is very boring like that you know? Next time you call all you fren to coming ok? Many love and for long long time, Nick

Chick in a blue natro R34 I know her personally. Not as a good friend or anything but you can say that we meet every so often for a little chit chat. I don't think she's into cruising etc... Not too sure if she knows much about the skylines/imports either cos she's seen mine and never talks cars. Welcome Another member to the TSO would be cool especially one of the opposite sex - cos Humbla isn't really QLD based. I hope you'll turn up at our next cruise, whenever that is. Its a pretty small group despite the amount of skylines in Tbar so you'll get to know everybody quick. Me gots a strange feeling they have no idea about the TSO. Its a pretty exclusive club. Besides, not everybody drives a skyline cos they love the car.

Power came back on late arvo today guys. Rain also stopped for now so I don't have to sleep with a mop and bucket/oil pan in my arms. Thanks for dropping by, Chris. Good chat Apart from my struggles, I've got some good news to share. Picked up the old girl now equipped with a big F**k O** Koyo rad and new thermostat. Now all I need is a 40degree day + aircon + stop-start traffic/spirited driving to see if that done the trick. Just need to fix the rear end alignment issues and I "should" fall in love with her again.
-
Awesome time boys. Loved every minute of it! Great chat, great food - talk about cheap and cheerful. Would love to go bowling or mini golf LOL I suck terribly at both so would be great for me to come out and give you guys a few pointers In other news, the rear end is the least of my problems. The car was overheating on the way home. Needed some lovely aircon and nekminnit the gauge started climbing slowly. Reached the 3/4 mark just below the big "H" as I drove into the garage...watched it like a hawk the whole way home I did too. Sooooooooo.....next cruise, if the old girl's not up to the task, I'll be in the Caldina but will have to hitch a ride in one of the 'lines. Wife has banned me easing it down mountain passes

Thanks for the offer I think I should be able to get the buzzbox serviced on Saturday at the very least. Still waiting on a few things to rock up in the mail so I can drive the new girl instead. Fingers crossed Burstons can get em cheap. I scored 5ltrs of Motul 8100 for $50 on the weekend off EBay but would like to go back to RP for the next oil change.
